It Starts...

Thanks Relly! Things are really falling into place... at last!

February 21 update

Exercise:

Ran 5.25 miles [1:10:20] Stephen maped out a course on his bike and we headed out around 2pm yesterday afternoon. The weather was PERFECT hovering at 60 degrees with a slight breeze. The course was tough, very hilly. I did hit THE WALL at about mile 4.25 and walked for a very short min the got back with it. I didn't have much left in me for my final "kick" but I was able to half sprint up the last hill to our driveway. Over all it was a good run and I was very happy with the time.

My total mileage for the week is 13. I'm starting to see what all the running is doing to my body... my legs are getting lean and I'm feeling good.

Next week I will reapeat the same wo schedule. Should be good. :)

As far as food goes, yesterday was my off day, but I might have at least been in caloric range. It seems that I typically skip lunch on the weekends and then have a larger than usual dinner. Yesterday was no different. I had a bagel with lite cream cheese, 1 egg, 2 slices of turkey bacon, and oj for breakfast... then nothing till dinner. We went out to an Italian place and had salad and pasta... then some ice cream later on.... I might have been a little high, but not over the top!

That's all for now!

Yay! Running outside is so awesome. I always hated it growing up but I really took a liking to it in college and have kept it up. What great cardio and stress relief and I can't think of an exercise that makes me feel so accomplished afterwards.

I used to run outside a ton, pretty much every day, but I moved and my new neighborhood isn't so nice. I will still go occasionally, but it's just not the same.

Have you tried this site? It's got a really neat tool for mapping out your runs to see how far you are going:

Another thing that I LOVE is the Nike+ attachment for iPod nano. It has a "chip" that you put in your shoe and a receiver that plugs into your nano. As you run, you get feedback for calories burned, distance, speed, time etc. It also keeps track of your runs for you and keeps totals and also allows you to upload the data for graphing or sharing with friends. I think it's only like $25 bucks and it's well worth every penny. It is also surprisingly accurate!

Dee 5.25. miles is AMAZING!!!!! I have never run for that long. Since all my 5K's are out of the way and I have a 10 K approaching I am going to start my training today!! :)

I totally agree. I would so much rather run outside than on a tredmill. The miles and time go by so much quicker! Our neighbor hood is pretty safe, but I think if I were to run in the evenings when it was getting dark I would feel more comfy if Step were with me. But it won't be long until the days are longer and I can run longer outdoors in the evenings.

Thanks for the link!! I will for sure use it to track out some of my routes!

I did a bit of research on the Nike+ application. I wasn't too impressed with the reviews I read. Most people found them to be inaccruate. I'm currently saving my pennies to get a Garmin Forrunner 305 or 405. But I might look back into the Nike+ and see if anything has changed in the past 6 months or so.

Thanks! I never thought I would get past the 5k mark, but its not near as hard as I thought... I was overthinking it. I'm sure with your ablitlites you will do awesome in your 10K. When is it?

I also have a 10k approaching its March 15. My goal is to finish in under 90 mins. Then I think I'll do a few more 10ks then move on to the ultimate goal of a half marathon! Then maybe a full marathon someday... we will see!

Oh yeah definitely get a Garmin if you can afford it. I would love one, but I just don't have a use for it now. I got one for my dad for xmas. He only runs on the treadmill but he wanted a way to track his heart rate and be able to keep the data. He LOVES it.

I'm surprised people said the Nike+ was inaccurate... I compared all of my runs to that Running Ahead mapping link I sent you and it was always spot on!

It's Monday and I feel like CRAP! I think I'm trying to catch this bug that is going around... ugh. And on top of that I'm kinda blue today. I'm a bit frustrated with my weight. Its been fluxing btwn 135-137 but hasn't been lower than 135. I think patience is key.

This week there is some crazyness going on. Both Stephen and my parents are going out of town this coming weekend and I will be making multiple trips to the airport... I also get the pooch for the weekend which I am excited for. I am considering taking him on my long run, but he gets tired quickly so I don't know.

Because of all this crazyness I'm changing up my WO schedule for the week and might throw in something to add a little spice... we will see. I also plan to stay on track with my eating for the weekend... I've been bad about just stuffing my face and I really need to knock that shit off!!

But then again I slid into some "skinny" jeans this weekend so I can't complain too much... I'm really excited for the summer to be here so I can rock my new found confidence!!!

Anyway, back to work!

Sorry your feeling blue Dee. I wish I could run down there and give you a hug! :)
If your noticing the scale not moving and the stuffing your face recently, that may be why the scale isn't shifting??? Or maybe check your BMR and your AMR to see if you are eating at maintenance. Your AMR has probably dropped since you've shed pounds recently. Just a thought.

I have heard great things about the Garmin Forerunner and I soooo want one. I may pick one up off ebay in the near future. First priority though is signing up for a duathalon.

I'm sooo glad you have a new found confidence and you are finally feeling good about everything. I ran 10K today for the first time and it actually wasn't too bad. I burned 700+ cals and I think I can see now what you said about the running making your legs look sexy. With runs like that theres no way our legs can expand lolll.

I got a couple mid terms this week which sucks but oh well!!! Gotta get er done!! :)

Ha Thanks Amanda! Great job on your 10k!! Yeah I think its safe to say that running isn't going to make my legs any worse!

Good lcuk this week with your midterms. Just remember you are ALMOST done. I was stressing out a bit about school this week, but I got a huge paper done which took all the stress away. Now I just need to do a few readings and I'm good to go!

February 25

So I don't know if anyone remembers my Crazy 8s goal. I wanted to get down 8 pounds or a size 8. And I hit the size 8 first. Welllll, those jeans ended up in the back of the closet because after 1 wash they just looked horrible on me. Well this past weekend I tried everything I own on trying to get rid of all the clothes that no longer fit. Well those tiny size 8s are currently on and pretty much too big... at least in the waste. Crazy what a few months does, I really feel like my lower half is starting to catch up and my legs are starting to change... its pretty amazing!

The scale read 135.1 today. I'm hoping to see 133 by next week, or that is my hope. I've gotten a handle on my eating and found that haveing a protien shake as my afternoon snack really holds me over and having a higher carb breakfast too. We will see how today goes.

Happy Hump Day All :D

Just a quick update

My food has been spot on the past 2 days, I've been a bit under cals but not enough to make a difference I think.

I didn't run last night, just wasn't feeling great. TOM has arrived and a nap was way more appealing. And I only napped for maybe 15 mins but it made a HUGE difference in how I felt.

Stephen leaves today to head home for a week to help his parents out with their biz. I'm indifferent about him leaving, for one it will be nice to have some alone time, but then again I'm sure I will get super board. But I will have the pooch with me and the weather is supposed to be wicked nice, so I'm looking forward to some sun bathing and some hiking.

The scale read 134.5 this morning... it always seems like I drop weight around my period and it holds... weird stuff.... but I'm very happy. I hope to be seeing 129 sooner rather than later. At this point my overall goal is to get to 125 and then reevaluate and see where I'm at probably maintain for a tick and then try to really gain some strength.

That's all for now, I'm at schooly today. Currently ditching my small groups class, just not in the mood today.

Woooo! You are getting so close! Seriously... you are SUCH a motivator for me. Keep up the good work, I know you will be there in no time :)

Definitely feeling the no motivation thing today. Skipping calculus sounds sooooo appealing right now. The scale read 137.4 today woot woot!! you are 3 lbs below me! I'm catching up!! :)

March 2

Wowza its already March! Doesn't look like I'm going to hit the 120s anytime soon. Hopefully by April I will be rockn out!

Yesterday I went for my long run 5.25 miles. Stephen is outta town so I went alone... and I have to admit it was probably the best run I've had to date. It really gave me a chance to clear my head and think about me. I can see now why runners do it and why I will always do it. The longer the run the more time I have to just reflect on me. :)

This week is 16 total miles, with a long run of 6 miles. I'm looking forward to it. I'm getting stronger with every run and more confident that "hey I AM a runner."

That is how you will reach the 120s:)And where ever else ya wanna go:D

You are AMAZING!

Out of everyone, YOU have trekked on without stopping or stalling MUCH, and WOW 5.25 miles? You're so awesome! You deserve it all! :hurray:

Thanks Val. I think alot of it is my personality and because I want this so damn bad. I was in a slump for a long time, bad boyfriend, bad job, bad friends... and once I finally got rid of the boyfriend everything changed and I started turning into someone I liked and I think that motivates me more than anything.

My friend B met me right after I finally got rid of the bf... and she tells me I was a MESS and now she looks at me and is like "girl, you got it going on!" And that feels good ya know.

This is my life and I have control and I've been in some rough places in it, places where I thought I might be stuck forever... but the choices I've made have led me here and I there is no way in hell I'm turing back!!
