It Starts...

Mornin MissD!

Looks like your working hard! Congrats. Good luck with the push-up. Another good progression is to do leaning push-ups and work your way down. Like start at 60 degrees, then 30 and so on......I read that that is actually better because the "girl push-ups" don't recruit all the stabilizing core muscles that you need to do real push-ups. In honesty though I don't remember where I read it, so I can't guarantee its credible. You seem fairly athletic though so I am sure all you really need is to set your mind to it and either way will work.

Thanks Steve, I will put together some exercises and send them your way for a review.

Thanks for the good wishes Ed, I love that you think I am athletic!! I mean I know I am but I don't think many get that impression of me.

So, I thought I would just make an update of things. Its not been a great week needless to say and its only what Wednesday... well almost Thursday now. We woke up yesterday morning to find that Step's truck had been stolen... from our driveway. Not a great way to end a nice long weekend let me tell you. So yesterday was a whirlwind of running around and filing claims and dealing with the police and freaking out about everything. Well needless to say it we don't expect to get the truck back and we just have to move on. I didnt make it into work yesterday morning, but after my mid-day classes I went back as usual, but it was busy so I stayed till just after 7.... by that time I was tired, emotionally drained, and still in shock. I attempted to come home and go on as usual, but it was hard. I did get some homework done, but that was about it. Meaning I didn't get any strength training in, but considering the reason I am not too worried about it.

Today both Step and I have tried to go on as usual, but regardless its still hard. We struggle money wise to being with and something like this is a huge blow... but like always we will manage. We both might have had a little cry in the doorway this morning and I think since then we have been better.

So today was better, I am still fighting this head cold. I get cough attacks frequently and my nose drips at random, but I really don't feel that terrible. I think I am tired though, but trudging on. We got a late start to our evening hills, but at least we got out. We ran 5 times at 60%, 70%, 80%, 70%, and finally 60%. It wasn't as hard as I expected, but I was breathing pretty heavy after each hill. I forgot to stop my watch, but I am guessing it took about 30 mins most likely less. I remember hearing my watch beep at 9:00 and we had just finished our last hill and were cooling off... so about 30 mins sounds right. I felt really good my legs were for sure burning, which was the goal of the whole thing, so mission accomplished!!

Back on track for tomorrow, that is the goal! Its a strength night, I'm going to put together a quick routine at some point tomorrow. It will for sure incorporate push-ups!!!

That's all I have for now! Its late and I have an assignment to submit before midnight... ha I just need to press submit, but still...

Nightly Night!

Wow, that really sucks... so sorry. Stephen drives a Dodge Ram, right? I think I remember you saying that, or maybe I'm mistaken. I know, after buying my new Ram, I found out that they're the most stolen truck. Something with the lock mechanism and door handle makes it very simply to steal... I heard all you need is a screwdriver!

I hope he had insurance that will cover this.

And hopefully nothing major was in the truck at the time!

When I was buying my truck 3 weeks ago, they had asked if I wanted this special security feature. It guarantees they locate the vehicle within 24 hours. It works via satellite. Maybe it's something I should have considered!

It was acutally a GMC, but it had lots of custom stuff done to it, including a lift and custom scooped hood. Both of us were really bummed becuase we loved that truck!! There wasn't anything valuable inside expect his glasses which are easily replaceable. And he is currently going through the run-around with the insurance company. We are just lucky that it was paid for.

I have heard of that location device, its a great idea!! I think if he gets a new truck we will FOR SURE get that. I might even consider getting it for my car.

My cousin has that tracking system for his cars (he has some nice cars.) He said that there is a household rate where you just pay one price for all your cars. I imagine that it only pays if you have more then two cars, though.

Yeah, we have talked about getting that once he gets a replacement. I don't really worry about my car since its always in the garage, but it would still be worth having.

Well I thought I would check in.... Needless to say its not been a great week both exercise wise, food wise, and life wise. But all I can do is move forward, note where I went wrong and learn. My lesson this week was to be prepared for ANYTHING and cope quickly. Unfortunatly, Step's truck getting stolen pretty much threw off the whole week. But I have a feeling tomorrow will be better.

We did get 2 runs in this week, but no strength. Maybe tomorrow we can make up for that and get both a run and some strength training in. I think I under ate most of the week, but honestly I don't know because I didn't track a single thing. I wrote stuff down, but never got the chance to put it into fitday. But from what I did write down I don't think I ate anything that would be terrible... other than the ice cream I had this evening... But I wanted it and I shared it with Step so I have NO guilt. I ate alot of soup and oranges this week, due to my little cold. I did NOT get enough water or enough veggies for that matter. I don't worry about eating junk or fast food because I just dont buy it. And as far as fast food goes my system can't handle it. It makes me sick so I avoid it as much as possible. Its funny because Step used to eat fast food alot more often before we moved in together and now he can't stand the stuff!! I love it!!!

I got off at 2 today with intentions to come home and work on homework... ha yeah right. Step was like come lay down with me for just a min.... ha 3 hours later I finally get up... with a terrible headache I might add. I don't nap for short periods of time only long... and recently when I wake up my head kills me. But I was exhausted. When I finally got up I went out to Whole Foods real quick to get some veggies for our fijatas. I got a really odd mix of things.... 2 bell peppers, some salsa, 1 honey greek yogurt (everyone here raves out greek yogurt so I thought I would try some), and 2 pints of Ben and Jerry's. Maybe its not that weird, but they all looked weired sitting together on the counter. Anyway, dinner was fijatas and some spanish rice. They turned out petty yummy. We are such hermits... its Friday night and we are having dinner in watching Harry Potter... ha ha... terrible.... and now its not even 10 and Step is already in bed and I'm headed that way soon.

Hopefully tomorrow we can get some exercise in. I am also hoping to get caught up on all my readings for the week. I have 2 exams on Tuesday, which I feel mostly prepared for. I decided to drop my microbiology class due to scheduling issues. MWF I was going from work to school then back to work and then back to school... and it just was too stressful to have to change gears that many times. And I can pick it up over the summer or in a few semesters. It was a huge relief when I finally decided to drop it. I think it will work out better in the long run.

Thats all for now, I could easily ramble for hours seemingly, but I'm sure no one wants to read that. Hope everyone has a good weekend!!

Night Night!!

Eating Healthy doesnt mean not eating good.

I just thought I would post a pic of breakfast. I was quite proud of our little mini feast, which consisted of:

2 Special K Waffles
1/2 orange
1/2 c watermelon
2 Jenny-o Turkey Sausage Links
1/8 c syrup
10 sprays of I can't believe its not butter.. Spray
Total Calories: 407
Right on target for what a meal for me should be. (I get about 1700 cals per day):drool5:

Note: Stephen had one more link than I did, and more syrup too. But hes a boy and weighs only 180 at a height of 6'4"...

Yummy.

I haven't had waffles in quite a while.

My breakfast consisted of oatmeal, raisins and honey all mixed together with some protein powder in milk and a handful of almonds. Quite filling. :)

MMM, I haven't had oatmeal in a long time and that sounds quite good! I usually don't put anything but honey in it, but the almonds sound good... and I am addicted to dried cranberries so I might throw some of those in next time too... ha I just decided what I'm having for breakfast tomorrow!!

How funny...I eat steel cut oatmeal on most mornings with dried cranberries and shaved almonds. With the cranberries I normally don't need a sweetener. Yum!

But I think what really helped my flexors was foam rolling. If you're not doing that, I highly suggest it. If you aren't familiar with what it is or does, do a search for self myofascial release. I actually had success with a foam roller and a lacrosse ball.

Foam rolling. OMG I've never felt pain like that from just rolling over something in my life. Afterwards it feels pretty good, but during uggh, and it's not even really hard to do.

Is there a difference between steel cut oats and say quaker oats? I didn't have that for breakfast this morning, Stephen wanted banana nut pancakes, but tomorrow for sure!

When you first start foam rolling it is pretty painful but the more you do it the better it gets, but its great for working out soreness and knots.

Hey there my Dear just thought I'd see how things are going. I noticed you are having trouble fitting in workouts and good eats, whereas both of these have just become so much more easier for me to fit in. Hopefully you can find a routine that allows you to stay on track soon. How is school going for you??? It's going pretty well for me. Found out this morning that my 8 o'clok monday morning class is actually an online course AND my Biochem lab is only every other monday, so I will have every other monday off!!! Woohoooo!!

Hey so I know your bday is coming up! I was gonna see if I could get your address and I'd send you a little funny present, but then I thought you might find that a little creepy. You can give it to me if you want though and I'll send you something :)

So do you have any plans for the big day?

Hey lady, thanks for stopping by! I think last week was just bad because Step's truck was stolen and it threw both of us for a loop. We have since regrouped and hopefully are back on track.

School is a little overwhelming. My A&P course is a hybrid course, meaning its half online and half in the classroom. We only have class once a week and lab once a week... but there is just soooooo much info being presented its hard to keep up. I'm really going to have to stay on top of things to do well. My other classes are okay, once again I am disappointed with my Nutrition class. My professor just reads things directly from power points and doesnt offer any thing other than what the book has to offer. We have our first exam tomorrow so we will see... You are lucky to have a day off in there, I'm working 30 hours a week so when I'm not in class I'm here at work... bleh!

Ha ha I will PM you my address and thanks in advance... Um, I don't have any plans for the big day, more in likely homework will consume most of the day.... Stephen might have something planned, but I doubt it... and that's fine... Its just another day!
