It Starts...

No she isnt a virgo. We have 2 kids silly.

J/K I don't think so. She was born in September. What does that make her?

LOL... September would make her a virgo.. unless its late September. Us virgos are list makers... I even keep mine in excel!

Quinoa is kind of an aquired taste - very few people I know like it on the first pass..

if it's not rinsed -it can be a litle on the bitter side...

Bulgur wheat is another nice grain to play with (google taboulleh salad (or search this site, I know i've posted a recipe for it) which is a lovely middle eastern salad with bulgur, tomatoes, cucumbers, parsley, and lemon juice - and a few spices... the longer it sits - the more flavorful it gets...

I am up for trying new things... I will search for it. I love a good salad!

September 22. That much I know. I have never really got all that zodiac stuff. I am a scorpio, I know that much. Now what that means I have no idea.

So Mac reminded me of this whole mind lagging on me thing.

Yesterday Step and I went shopping for a few things for our trip. I wanted to get some shorts and possibly a nice summer dress to wear. So we went to Old Navy, not my fav place to shop but they usually have good prices. Anyway, we browsed through grabbing things here and there... and I was grabbing size large dresses to try on and size 12 shorts because that's my size right??? And Stephen even asked are you sure you're a large... and I'm like OH YEAH... well I get to the dressing room and nothing fits... its all too BIG! It was weird, I don't see myself as a medium or a 10.. and even the size 10s were pretty big...

We later went to target and I found a nice dress to try on and I grabbed a Medium because of the previous experience and it was too big too!! I ever thought I would be a small!! Needless to say I didn't get that dress, it was cute but not worth the price.

I ended up with 1 pair of shorts, a mini skirt (I only bought it because Stephen said so), a summer dress, and a nighty... I also got 2 new pairs of sun glasses!

THIS WEEKS PLAN August 4-8

Monday: Circut + Stretch + Abs

Tuesday: Academy Loop Run: 3.5 miles + Stretch

Wednesday: Salsa w/hand weights

Thursday: Circut + Stretch + Abs

Friday: Academy Loop 3.5 miles + Stretch

All of these events include Stephen and myself, except for Friday. Stephen works Friday AM and we fly out that afternoon. I am really pumped up to get these workouts in before we leave. I also have about a jillion other things that need to get done, but these are TOP priority.

I am also working on some kind of plan for next week while we are on vacation. I am thinking it will consist of mostly running and stretching. Possibly some biking depending on what rental prices are like. Also hopefully some frizbee and stuff on the beach!!! I want to take a workout video with me, but Stephen won't allow it!!

Does it feel good to grab your "old" size and realize you are now smaller? It's great to be smaller but a pain to get dressed again and go out and grab the smaller sizes. LOL Keep up the great job girlie. Your workout this week sounds really solid!

Yeah it was weird to think that a Medium was too big in some brands... I thought I would be a LARGE my whole life!!

Thanks for the boost lady! I feel like I am on a good track and the week has only just begun!:biggrinjester:

Yup Virgo... I think alot of the zodiac stuff is a load of crap, but some of the stuff you read hits my personality dead on....

Dvd players in hotels are tough to come by... you've got the beach - walking on the sand makes for a great workout...

And who wants to be inside when the beach is right there anyway!?!? I plan to do some running on the beach, it should prove to be a great workout!

Getting into a smaller size than you actually thought you were is always such a good feeling :) I would be all over that beach! It sounds like it's going to be a great trip your going on.

-Sam

Thanks Sam, I am pretty excited for it! I just wish Friday would hurry up and get here!!!

Thanks lady!! I haven't been shopping like all summer mostly because I hate to shop... but for once it was a good experience!

Ugh, I hate it too... and I LOVE subway!!! But I also went to a different one that usual, so that also could have been the reason....

As for me, when I began my initial battle I used diet pills and starved myself... it worked of course, but my all means not healthy... as I matured I began to look at foods differently and then when I hired a trainer he had me eating veggies, chicken, and brown rice... for weeks... granted I lost weight, but talk about boring!! No fruit no dairy no red meat... I stuck to it but was glad to start "eating normal" again.... And then my Mom acutally discovered weight-watchers and all of our dieting was over....

I myself am a huge Fan of weight watchers because they basically calorie count for you by assigning foods a point value and each person get x amount of points based on their weight. It also encourages the good ole food pyramid.... suggesting to eat foods from each category... And that is what I stick to.

My current challenge is learning to cook meatless meals. My honey doesnt think its possible to have an all veggie meal that doesnt consist of pasta.... And he is pickey, me I love most veggies and am willing to try new things... so thats my biggest issue as far as cooking goes...

Hello!! My first time here, actually following Alta around today, she knows the cool people. lol

I didn't know you were also doing WW! Me too! I've lost 32 pounds since February 08 on WW.

I really know what you mean about the dieting being over. My whole way of life and eating has been changing for the better. I love that i choose what I want to eat, and I am not restricted. It's helped me find foods that are just as good as my old fatty favorites.

I too have been really wanting to go meatless. I love veggie burgers, veggie sausage, veggie chorizo... but I need to try more stuff, I can't eat that all the time. I even tried the veggie ground beef and made tacos with it.

It's different, but I am hoping over time that I will learn to love the new flavor and stop missing the real stuff. I want to do it for my heart.

I hope you are having a great week!! Go WW!

I have gone meatless, but recently have begun to slowly eat more meats. I find it to be much easier to not completely restrict yourself from meat, but to eliminate it as much as possible, and to especially stay away from processed meats and red meats. I have kept fish in my diet and eat it daily. It is super low in saturated fats which makes it a much healthier choice. I also prefer the organic meats, because the meat is leaner since the animals are farm raised and have an opportunity to run around. Other options are beans and anything soy. Also protein shakes. But I am not going to sit here and tell you that I don't miss a greasy hamburger every now and then. But having made the choice I have, I am "not allowed" to eat them, so I eat tuna burgers and veggie burgers instead.

One thing to note though. Many veggie burgers have nearly the same amount of saturated fat as regular meat does. I discovered the fish burger yesterday, and for more than half the amount of saturated fat those things are super awesome.

Oh and I recommend trying tofurkey. Deli slices made of tofu that taste like real meat. Can't go wrong!!
