It Starts...

Race Day! We were up and out of the house right at 6 this morning... headed out to civic plaza for pre-race festivities and to cheer the marathoners at their start. I wrapped my quad for extra support and took it pretty easy. The course was an out and back and was VERY flat. There were about 200 5K runners possibly more. We finished in just over 38 mins which was good. I had yet to finish in under 40 mins. Overall it was am awesome experience, despite the cold. It was in the 40s this morning with a slight breeze. I feel pretty good now other than a bit of a sinus headache.

Yea!!! I'm glad you enjoyed the race. :hurray: Did you get a cool shirt or medal out of it? I've become a medal whore lately. In the last 12 months I have ran one 5K, one 10K, 4 half marathons and 1 full marathon. I've got a lot of cool shirts now and 5 really cool medals including a Tiffany's necklace I got just recently when I did my full marathon. Getting the little rewards at the end are nice reminders of all the training and hard work you put in.

Keep up the great work! Let me know what you sign up for next. I'm going to switch to triathlons and I want to take some swimming lessons over the winter to prepare for a spring triathlon.

Hey, I like your new plan my dear :) I understand about your time managing--see, I let all the housework go and go to workouts instead, so there are all sorts of projects I haven't finished and tidying up that should be done, but isn't. It's pretty shameful, good thing I seldom have any visitors!

Nice with the run! Too bad about the C :( Take care

Yeah time management is a bitch and she gets me every time. Hopefully I will find a balance someday.... I feel like my plan will work out... hopefully!

Ehh its just a C, not the end of the world at least its passing. I went to lab today and the majority of people got Cs so I'm assuming it was average... which sucks, but again I'm still holding a B... and I plan to hold tight to it!!

Hey Lady! We did get pretty cool shirts, long sleeve mock turtle neck made of a breathable material... Getting shirts is the best part... or that's what Step says... He has tons of shirts from races he has done. We also got some cool pins and all kinds of little stuff in our race packet... it was pretty awesome, no Tiffany's necklace though... that would be Sweet!!

We were hoping to sign up for a race this coming weekend, but we just couldnt swing it. However we are going to our first road runner's meeting next week, should be exciting!!

Again congrats on your marathon!! You're still my biggest inspiration!! :hurray::hurray:

October 28

Good Morning!! Its Tuesday and I am ready to be off work even though its only 10 after 8... UGH! Anywho I got my butt outta bed this morning and got 25 mins of cardio kickboxing in. Felt pretty awesome and was feeling my workout from last night a bit too!

It looks like today is going to be productive on both fronts. I have a nurtition exam next week that I am wanting to kick some butt on. I'm really going to hunker down this week and get my studying in so that I am prepared by Friday evening and then just review my flash cards and notes before the exam.

Um, other than that things are going pretty well. I think Step and I got our costumes decided for the weekend and just need to hit up the thrift shop and piece things together. I am excited about getting dressed up and going to a party... its something Step and I have never done together so it should be fun!!

That's all for now!

Breakfast:
1 cup Kashi go lean honey almond
1/2 cup ff milk
1 cup coffee w/dry cream and sugar

Cool. What are your costumes?

Well its been a huge debate and we are now between 2 things... since the party we are going to its like a couples party we were trying to come up with couples ideas... buuuuutttt... I think we are just going as action characters... Step is going to be Indiana Jones and I am going as Laura Croft!!! Our other option is JFK and Marlyn Monroe (god knows I have the figure!!).

Both would be pretty easy to put together, I am all for the action characters!

That is cool, especially since you and Steph are going together :beating: almost like a date! :D

Totally!! Last year we wanted to have a huge party and starting planning like as soon as we moved in together... but Step shattered his wrist and our plans kinda went in the toilet... so I think this will make up for last year!!

AM Snack:
1 trail mix garnola bar
1 Lg banana
1 sm cappuccino

Lunch:
Turkey and swiss sandwhich
1 dill pickle spear
1 cup fruit

I'm sitting at just over 1200 cals now. I still have a run tonight ahead of me and we are having fish for dinner tonight!! So I should be all set!

October 29

Sooooo its Wednesday and I'm feeling alright. My plan for getting exercise in is somewhat working. I just cant believe how quickly time files. I had every intention of running last night, but it was bedtime before I knew it. We needed to get rodents for the creatures and while out we did a little halloween shopping as well as grocery shopping. Then it was home to start dinner and by then it was already 7.... and almost 8 by the time dinner was ready.... so by 9 I was ready to run, but it was too close to bed time... so we fed the creatures and went to bed.... But I don't feel too terrible since I did Kickboxing yesterday morning...

Today I hope to be very productive school wise. We have a review in my nutrition class and I want to make sure I am fully versed in the material so that I can ask questions or understand the questions asked. So far its kinda busy at work, but it looks like things are starting to slow down.

Ummm... yeah that's pretty much it. I ordered some leg holsters for my costume and am going thrit shopping today during lunch. I'm hoping to get away under 30 but we will see!! I think I might be going as two different things... we are having a potluck at work so I might do the maryln monroe for it and then the Laura Croft for the party that Step and I are going to.... but again we will see what happens.

That's all for now!

Breakfast:
1 Cup coffee w/dry cream and sugar
2 svg rolled oats w/dried cranberries and almonds

What kind of creatures have you?

We have 4 snakes.... Step is a Herpetologist and is wanting to breed rainbow boas

Bella --> Female Ball Python ~ 18 months old
Sapheria --> Female Rainbow Boa ~ 15 months old
Dixi aka Switch --> Male Columbia Red Tail Boa ~ 6 years old
Jake --> Male Corn Snake ~ 15 years give or take

How cute! :beating: I never read that about Steph. I heard there is lots of money to be made, belly dancing with boas. My teach said, "Just make sure you never dance with a Python."

Yeah I might have mentioned it... its more of a hobby for him than anything. I myself know more about reptiles than I would like... but it comes with caring for them.

So why boas and not pythons?? From my undestanding they are both pretty even tempered... There are several types of pythons that get big such as the reticulated and burmese.. but ball pythons are pretty small in comparison.

If you ever want to borrow Dixi... feel free... he's about 7' long and about 15lbs... not huge... but big. :)

YAY I can borrow Dixi! :hurray:

Hmm, I dunno--I don't know about the difference in temperament. I was just trusting that my teach did, but then again, she's no Herpetologist (or girlfriend of one :D)

well I wish I read that post when you were still online because you might actually be able to help me. Let me tell you what happened. I have a shneider skink and a bearded dragon and they have lived together happily in a 60 gallon tank for over 3 years. Now I am anything but consistent with feeding them and I think this may have been the cause of the problem. I went to the tank one day and noticed the skinks leg was swollen and immobile. I considered the beardy chomping on it but also considered it getting stuck under a rock so I ignored it. Well I went downstairs yesterday and half of my skinks tail was gone. No where to be found. I have since separated them.

So i called the vet who specializes in exotics and she told me 95 for the physical, 38 and upwards for antibiotics, and more money if they have to bandage or stitch it or whatever. I do like having my skink but that is just some money that I can't bring myself to spend on it. So here's what I did:
I let all the wounds soak in mild soap and water for about 10 minutes. Then I tried to get as much sand off the wound as possible. Unfortunately I couldn't get it all he was in a lot of pain when I touched the wound. But I tried real hard. Anyways, After that I put some antibiotic ointment on all the wounds and then put some liquid bandage on them. I also changed the substrate to newspaper. So now my question. Is this what you would have done? I had 3 options, 1. blow all that money on the vet, 2. Kill him (I didn't have the heart) or 3. Try to help him myself and if he doesn't survive then I know I did what I could.

Is there anything else you might be able to suggest for my little cute skinky???

Yea he's soo cute. He's a schneider skink which is way cuter than any other skink lol.

Here's a pic for anyone else. He's not mine but you can see what he looks like.
