Is it possible to break a two year PLATEAU?!

It seems most people hit plateaus when they near their goal. I've thought about getting my hormone levels checked also.

Hey girl! I actually gained 12 pounds during the last 2 years of on and off again dieting. I was either eating below a normal maintenance level when dieting, or eating at maintenance when not. I was never just pigging out all the time, so clearly this is not about calories as many people seem to think. Rather, you can't magically lose weight without cutting calories, but when you do cut calories, you should lose and if you dont there's a problem. I think after I finish my book about bio-identical hormones (that had a hand in curing my mom of 7 years of severe illness), I will see if I can get this finetuned even more. So far I'm sleeping better too.

Keep it up girl, if it keeps moving down you'll be at your goal weight in no time!

OK, now I will promise to get off my soap box about calories! I realize I'm repetitive about it but I guess it got me angry and frustrated, thinking things are my fault when I'm doing the right thing and my body is not cooperating. Will try to refrain from griping about this as I am just pleased how things are going the past few weeks. After 2 years of frustration, I'm so afraid things will come to a halt again :(.
 
OMG!!!! I lost another half a pound and hit a new low of 144 lbs! I can't believe my efforts are finally paying off! I'm still very fearful that everything will stop again but here's to discovering new lows on a scale!

Hey Blancita! It's great to hear the train is finally pulling away from the station! I think you're right, hormones do play a role, especially if they're connected to the insulin system thing. Amazing how you're eating more calories now yet losing weight - I think there may be something in this quiche thing!!! You're giving me cooking ideas I never had hon! Good for you to go all out on the fresh veg!!! I think I'll do the same!!

Glad you had fun at the BBQ... you deserved the fun food after the work you've put in! Keep going and don't be afraid because you'll get there! Thanks for your encouragement in my diary! :cheers2:
 
What a nice message of support from shinsplint! Seriously, thanks :).

I packed a cherry tomatoe, cucumber salad for work since fruits and veggies are expensive down by where I work. I spent $16 yesterday on 2 fruit salads and a garden salad! After I have this I'll go out and get another salad (with less heavy things so its not so PRICEY) and also another fruit salad since I have to eat all my fruits and veggies or will get hungry. I started out the morning with a shake made of almond milk and 1/2 a canteloupe, plus I had an 8 grain bagel w/ butter when I got to work. Not sure what I'll do for dinner.. I certainly never thought I'd enjoy eating vegan, but I am!

Blancita- Vegan is like a secret little world isn't it? Glad we discovered it :) I can't wait until I can have grains and nuts.. that almond milk sounds so good right now.

If anyone asks me what vegans eat, i tell them to try eating only animal meat for a month. It's the veggies, grains, etc. that make it palatable.

Interesting about the low estrogen. I too suffer from that as well as thyroid condition. I wonder if adding estrogen would help me after I have this baby??? The doc didn't want to put me on the estrogen therapy until My thyroid was straightened out a bit. I may get the doc to consider this when I FINALLY have this baby. 14 more weeks!!!!!!

YES, being pregnant sucks ass. BIG TIME! But this pregnancy has been going so much better than the last. I hit the third trimester next tuesday. Yay!! I can't wait to start shedding these pounds. Only 18lbs so far!!

I've been eating really well calorie wise and also lots of fruits and veggies, but perhaps not getting enough protein and calcium. Here's what I had yesterday:

*2 chalah rolls w/ butter
*salad w/ romaine, carrots, cucumber, feta cheese
*fruit salad
*shake: cucumber, water in blender
*10 Club crackers w/ spinach/feta spread
*almonds
*almond milk

The scale was at my new low. Hope to see 143.5 lbs soon (????).

Im most impressed with your food, it is such a turn over from before...those fruits and veg it is awesome!!!

Thanx for the great rep by the way...speaking of which why wont ours go up any higher? Val was in the 100's I would be well into my late 900's by now lol!

Maybe you should look into it miss mod, ha ha ha, we are such rep whores...
 
Hey hey! I hit yet another new low! Another 1/2 pound down to 143.5 lbs. Granted I didn't eat much at all yesterday, but still, normally over the past 2 years when I would eat very little the scale would still just go up and down up and down, so I must say I am so very pleasantly surprised! Here's what I ate yesterday, nothing much healthy in there:

*2 chalah rolls w/ butter
*rice/beans/guacemole/romaine/tomatoe: only ate 1/3 of my lunch
*shake: cucumber, water in blender (this really fills me up for some reason!)
*1/2 green apple
*6 pan-fried veggie dumplings

I'm doing a pro bono (free) case, trying to prevent a poor family from being evicted from their home, so I have been busy and couldn't start back at the gym this week. Will try to do some exercise in the park and on the elliptical this weekend, though I need to run around again today for my case.
