Hello everyone! This is my first journal entry and I'm happy to say that already since I began my journey to lose weight (just a little over a week ago.. friday september 11th to be exact) I have lost 5 pounds!!! Once I stepped on the scale and saw 155.8 I KNEW I had to buckle down and take control before I let go completely!! Today I am 150.6 and feeling great about it! I have been working out every morning and it's really boosting my confidence already. It just makes me feel better about myself and makes my day SO much better! My goal is to get to at LEAST 135. But we'll see, maybe I can do better than that :p

As far as eating goes... I'm really eating the same things that I usually do, but I'm trying to eat a little healthier AND I'm keeping very close track to my calories. I'm shooting for 1,500 a day but somedays I come up short, some days I go over. But I know it's making a difference because I can guarantee you that when I wasn't counting, I was probably having around 3,000 a day!

My workouts so far are just tredmil (interval training - 1 minute running as fast as i can, 1 minute walking, keep switching off 10-15 times) and cross trainer (like an elliptical but has an incline and resistance options). I also lift some weights and do some crunches but I'm just starting so I hope to have more intense work outs as I go on!

Leave me some love!! Cheer me on!!!:hurray: I love hearing all of your stories they are truly inspiring!

Hey guys! (If there's anyone out there reading this :-/) Just wanted to post some pictures of me so far. Here I am 150 pounds, and have been working out regularly. I'm going to post pics along the way and when I meet my goal I will post the pictures I took of myself before I started my journey to get in shape!

Time to go to the gym!
~ Sarah

So just got back from the gym a little bit ago.... I did 60 minutes of cardio today! I might have to try biking tomorrow (I've been on the tredmil for the past 7 days and I think I need to give my shins a little break). I also worked out my abs which HURT SO BAD because I haven't done sit ups in sooo long before yesterday, but I stretched the best I could and did what I could and I'm HAPPY because I can already tell that my stomach is getting flatter. Not MUCH flatter, but I don't feel like I look bloated anymore. I just ate a honey wheat bagel with butter for breakfast... YUMMM but I'm still hungry... I think I'm going to eat an apple. I should be having around 400 calories per meal and the bagel was only 280. Well... time to get ready for class!!! I'll write later!

Good evening all!! Or should I say goodnight? LOL it's gettin a little late... I should probably hit the hay cuz I gotta get up early again tomorrow to work out! Anyway, had a good day. Here is what I ate:

Breakfast - honey wheat bagel w/ butter, apple
Snack - granola bar
Lunch - pb&j sandwich, string cheese, grapes
Snack - sugar free chocolate pudding
Dinner - lasagna Smart One's meal
After dinner - 2 beers

total cal: 1,400
total water: 64 oz

I'm totally stoked to work out tomorrow morning. I really enjoy working out now! I am going to follow a training schedule that builds up endurance in 8 weeks to run 2 miles straight. I'm following this schedule because I just signed up for a 5K run for arthritis!!! I can't wait to do it... November 8th! Gotta get in good shape! here is the link for the 8 week training program incase anyone is interested:

Goodnight!!!!! <3

Hey, best of luck!! You lost a lot of weight.. I have started my weight loss journey on Sept 16th (exact date). Not sure how mu8ch i weigh now as I have weighted myself (bought a weighing scale from eBay, Yet to be delivered).

Can you please explain how long you spend on exercise daily? And what's your present weight?

Thanks and best of luck for that race.

Good luck!! Good idea to keep track of the changes in your body through pics. It is not obvious when you look in the mirror, but before and after pics always tells you how far you have come and how far you have to go.

How tall are you, and what is your goal weight?

anand - thanks for your reply :) i haven't lost much weight yet. all i know is that i lost 5 pounds so far. i don't have a scale at college, so when i get home is when i weight myself. i'm weighing myself every friday. i don't want to be obsessive about it and get discouraged when the numbers go up! because they will! however, muscle weighs more but takes up less space, which is why i decided to do body measurements so that if the scale goes up one week, i can measure myself to see inches lost! so far i have been working out every morning, usually just a half hour on the tredmil. i just added in free weights and abs work outs. i also decided to boost up my cardio to an hour so as of yesterday, that's what i'm doing!

juni - i am 5'4 1/2" and my goal weight is 135... if i can get below that, great! otherwise, 135 is a fitting number for my body type and frame. thanks!!

time to go to the gym! man i love waking up early. feels great! every day i feel better about myself!!

i'll write more later!

Hello!!!!! Here is my update from yesterday on what I ate:

breakfast: special k cereal w/ skim milk, tost w/ peanut butter
lunch: salad w/ 1000 island dressing, turkey cheese mayo sandwich
dinner: chicken marinara, mixed veggies, skim milk
after dinner: 2 beers
total cal: 1,123
total water: 72 oz

today i did 40 minutes on the tredmil which consisted of warm up, intervals, and face paced walk on incline. i did 15 minutes on the cross trainer, then did a few weights, side bends, and crunches.

i'm really anxious to see what i have lost in this week... if anything at all. i feel like i have! i can definitely tell the difference in my stomach and its making me wonder!!! i can't wait to weigh myself on friday!

well... hope everyone is having a great day. now it's off to class! i'll update this later with my food intake for the day

Great Job!!!...You have a great shape on you and you will get to model status in no time!!! I'm rooting for yoU!!! Way to get up early too!! ;)!

Hey just stopping by. It's great that you are trying to take control of your lifestyle at such an early age. It must be really tough to be in college and focus on your eating and exercise. I know college was a killer for me.

I know that you are excited about seeing your results on Friday but you should already be so proud of what you have accomplished. Your eating has been great and your exercise has been fantastic. Those two things is what should keep you motivated.

Anyway, i was really digging this thread until i saw you are a Packers fan. Well, i might have to look past that.

What are you studying?

Matt

Haha, I'm SORRY I'm a cheese head, gotta love the Packers!!! :) I am studying communications... organizational communication to be exact! It was really funny actually, I've been so pumped about this whole weight loss thing, I haven't really talked about school much. My mom said to me the other day, "So let's talk about school, we never talk about your classes... I feel like I sent my daughter to fat camp" haha cuz that's really the only thing I've been talking to her about lately!! Anyway.. thanks for the encouragement :) I'm glad I started this diary.. even if I do only get a few responses.. I'm always checking it and it keeps me in line making sure to share my thoughts, very motivational!

There you go girl!...That's what i get out of my dairy too!...Some accountability and it keeps me in check a little!! .....:D!

PS- just saw your pics you posted the other day....

you look WAAAAAAY better at your 150 than I EVER did!!!! you can totalyl do this girl... you are gonna have a rockin bod once you get to your goal!!! you are already looking good!

Thanks girls :)

Unfortunately I feel like CRAP right now... I just ate a can of beef ravioli for dinner because I was too lazy to actually cook something HEALTHY. UGH!!! I just feel so bad now, I should not have ate it!! or at least not the whole can!!! This is my FIRST set back... and it's not like I weighed myself.. I guess i was just happy for making healthier choices and then I just ate a meal that I would have ate normally..... BUT i'm going to try to stay positive, everyone has bad days and set backs but the only thing you can do is WORK IT OUT the next day!! ha... can't wait to go to the gym now......

here is my food log for the day:

breakfast - honey wheat bagel w/low fat cream cheese
snack - granola bar
lunch - salad w/ light ranch dressing, half pb&j sandwich, sugar free pudding, grapes
snack - mixed nuts
dinner - ravioli (blah!)

total calories - 1,248
total water - 56 oz (ouch!)

back to the grind tomorrow.... day 4 of training for the 5K! plus the weekend starts for me!! YAY!! :) :) :)

leave some love <3

The weekend starts???? What?? Oh the college days, boy do i miss them.

As far as the ravioli goes, you can not let one meal effect you. This is a lifestyle!! Do you honestly think that every single meal for the rest of your life will be healthy. Let me answer that one for you, NO!!!

Figure out the calories and move on. It's not going to hurt you. You will be fine.

Keep up the good work!!!

Matt
