[insert witty title here]

Well, the scale is up to no good again... and it seems I am to! Food-wise I've been doing well, but I didn't workout Mon or Tues. That means I have to workout W-Su in order to get my 5 days in. Sigh, that is going to be hard, especially since I am going out of town tomorrow or Friday for Easter. I CAN DO IT THOUGH, RIGHT!?!? I just need to run, run, and run some more. My 5K is coming up soon and I HAVE to be ready!

The scale was up 4.8 pounds this morning (to 194.4). What the hell. Hopefully it will back to 189.6 by Friday morning, then start going under over the weekend. I've have yet to gain weight for a Monday weigh-in since Dec 28, 2008 - and this week will be no different. I will get back to 189.6 (and hopefully under) no matter what it takes :) I do think 100% of the weight is water, I've been drinking SOOO much these last two days (just water :)). I actually feel kinda skinny ;)

I'm going for a run after work today (finally back in the office) and hope to do around 3 miles of running and then 30 minutes in the gym tonight after dinner. Good luck to me, and the scale!

Hey DW. I know how you feel.

You made a comment about something that got me thinking. I think I'm going to go over to the "On Topic" section and post a new thread about this. Just curious as to how other are going to deal with Easter.

Well, the scale is starting to go back down. I was at 193.0 this morning. Hopefully after my workout tonight and a fairly healthy day I will be at 189-190 in the morning. I still feel as though most of it is water weight. I'm really really hoping for 187.6 on Monday, but will be happy (almost) if I can just maintain the 189.6. I know that when I drop bigger numbers the following week is not as good. I just DON'T want to gain. That really would upset me.

I am so EXCITED because my wife and I are FINALLY going on a real date tomorrow night, the first since the beginning of Jan. We are hitting up our favorite mexican restaurant (which I haven't been to in quite some time) and then going to see a movie, maybe sunshine cleaning. I plan on getting my normal food at the restaurant, which isn't very healthy - BUT I plan to eat slowly and stop when I become full. I think it will go well, and I will be doing some major working out on Saturday and Sunday to even the calories out.

So, here's hoping for < or = 189.6

Woot woot!

Well, it's Friday and, as normal, the scale is back down to my Monday weigh-in number. So weird, but oh well. I have a cheat meal tonight, so hopefully that won't bring the number back up too high. Then, I should have a pretty good active and low calorie weekend. I plan to run 3 miles twice and hit the gym on Sunday night when I get back in town. Here's hoping for 187.6 on Monday morning!!! Have a nice easter everyone

good luck with the weekend DW. Especially with Easter on Sunday.

My goal is to avoid family members that will try the guilt trip on me to eat more than I should.

I hate when they pull the guilt card! I plan on having a grilled chicken breast with sweet potato casserole. Yum!

I weighed in this morning and am happy to say that I maintained 189.6. I survived the holiday and feel VERY proud of myself. I had a glorious cheat meal on Friday, and then ate very well for the rest of the weekend; and, if anything, came in under my calories. I did 65 minutes on the treadmill Friday morning, and 1 hour run/walk on Saturday, and no exercise on Sunday. I really believe that if I could have done my normal Sunday (90 minutes cardio) I would have seen a nice lose. But, I literally did not have the time. My day started at 7am and did not end until 11pm... SO BUSY!

I feel so happy with my diet and lifestyle change right now. I'm in a good place. I'm not rushing the weight off, because I know that eventually it will come off. I really believe I will have an awesome weigh-in next week! I am still on target with my original goals and feel healthy and happy.

Granted, I can't wait to see the lower 180's! and even the 170s.. that will be nice. Buy why rush? Last time I lost weight I rushed and rushed... starved myself and overworked my body. I gained it all back, plus some. This time I KNOW that slow and steady wins the race and I am making a life commitment... not a Jan-Jun commitment.

So, my goal for next Monday is set at 186.6. Since I didn't lose this week I am hoping to lose 3 pounds next week, I CAN DO IT!

I'm so sad... I didn't make it to the gym yesterday! ugh. I don't usually go to the gyms on Monday because they are very busy days for my family, but I also didn't have a chance to go on Sunday and I really hate missing two days in a row. I HAVE to go tonight!

The good news is the scale has been very kind. Since I've missed the gym twice I lowered my calories slightly to compensate. Usually the scale jumps up after my Monday weigh-in, but it is actually going down. I think I am going to have a really good weigh-in next week... possibly 3-5 pounds. I just feel it :) WHOOHOO... but let's not count the chickens before they hatch.

So. Gym tonight. 1 hour. Pinky Promise.

Im with you! I hate missing the gym as well.. actually last week that happened. Sunday my gym was closed so I asked a friend if I could use her treadmill.. Only got in 2.7 miles but better than nothing.

You have alot to juggle! Does your wife workout too? My husband does not and sometimes it gets to him that I am at the gym. I do make sure he and my daughter have dinner and homework has been done before I go.

Last night I did the first night of week 4 on the c25k!! Yikes the 5 min about killed me now the 3 min are easy and I look forward to them! hahah Im doing the incline like you suggested, hoping it works for the asphalt. For now, im just in the gym. So anyways last night I worked extra hard. Every other Tuesday I have bible study so I will be dying that I cant be at the gym. I soo need it though :)

You will do great this week! I love the attitude.. super positive. Thanks for all the tips

Tootles!

I've have yet to gain weight for a Monday weigh-in since Dec 28, 2008 - and this week will be no different.
wow, that's amazing, it shows you've consistently achieved weightloss since december!

3 miles: 32 minutes, 40 seconds
congrats! that's some really good time for three miles!...and all running too! i hope to eventually be able to run at some point in the future when i'm at a weight i'm comfortable with...so it's really motivating to see other people's progress.

Wow - congrats on making it to week 4 of C25K, that is awesome! My wife doesn't workout either, and I have a huge guilt complex when I leave for an hour every night (after being at work alll day). She has been amazing though, and has never once made me feel guilty. I try to work out 'less' on the weekdays (I go after the kids are in bed, or only stay for 30-45 minutes) and then I hit the gym hardcore on the weekends.

Thanks Cherry! Sometimes it helps to step back and look at the big picture and to really see how far we've come. Yes, i still have weight to lose, but look how much I've accomplished :) It's so easy to lose sight of that, ya know?

I can totally see you running someday soon :) You gear up for a 5K and I will bring my family over to the UK so that we can run it with you!

The scale is going DOOOOOWWWWWWNNNNNN

  188.0

I was so happy last night when I got on the scale and saw 188.0, and had I not drank three huge glasses of water before bed I probably would have seen 187 this morning :)

I did so wonderful yesterday. I went for a 45 minute walk during my lunch break at work, and then did an hour on the treadmill last night (HR=130). I am going to make a repeat performance today to see if I can get the same results! I am eating the same throughout the day, and if weather permits will go for another walk during lunch. I would really REALLY love to see 185.8 on Monday next week. That would put me right back where I'm 'supposed' to be according to the goals I set in December. I really think I can do it.

Woohoo for the 188!!!

You will do it and see 185.5 on Monday!

That's a good tactic, to walk durin lunch =)

Thanks! I went for a 50 minute walk at work today and it was VERY hilly. Tonight I am going to attempt to run on the treadmill (which I hate) so that I can continue preparing for my 5K... I want to do 3 miles at 6.0mph. I CAN DO IT! I can't believe my 5K is next Saturday, I am SO excited.

Instead of watching the TV in the gym tonight, which I usually do, I am going to take my iPOD. I always run with my iPOD outside and maybe this will help me not get so bored on the treadmill. When the commercials come on all I can do is think about the time and how long I have left.

i see your making good progress.

i actually laughed when i read your last post because i thought i'm the only one who has the big debate as to whether i should use the ipod or watch the treadmill telly (because i also find the treadmill SO boring, but some things just have to be done right?).

So, Initially the first few days i only listened to my ipod which was great for starters but started quickly getting bored with it because i didn't have the discipline to keep switching up my music often (i have the teeny one, the so it can only hold like 120songs which still never seems enough lol!). So just recently i started watching the telly when on the treadmill, i'm usually on the music channel but when those commercials come i just want to SCREAM because it's like they last forever, so i switch channels to the news or some boring programme thats on, then switch back to the music channel which then begins doing a repeat of songs that have already been on...then i end up finally switching back to the ipod....go figure! lol!

and yes, all this time i'm looking down at the time left....i always find it hilarious because the last 2-3 minutes on the treadmill are the HARDEST....i always feel like they drag on and on, but i can never bring myself to hit the stop button and always let it countdown and stop on its own.

haha Cherry, it seems we have a very similar internal debate! I use the treadmill quite often. I walk at a 3.8mph pace with a steep incline (between 6 and 9) to keep my heartrate up. When I do this I watch TV and usually plan my gym time around a good show, like the biggest loser, which I actually did last night :)

BUT, running on the treadmill is a different story. It's hard for me to keep the pace and I just stare at that damn clock counting every last second. I am already really clumsy, so I am scared to fool around with the remote while running... which makes changing the channel hard.

sigh..

Running outside is SO much better, but I won't have the opportunity to do it today and I have to practice for my race. I am going to find a good CD and listen. In the end it's only 30 minutes and I will survive. I hope ;)
