India's diary

Lol, India I felt the same way about w77's first post (I actually gave it negative reputation)! Honestly, I think it was more offensive that w77 came on here to attack your diet and the doctor that prescribed it based on some far fetched idea of how bad Italy's cultural food is supposed to be for you. Do what works for you on the program that was made for you. And stay strong, though you obviously have it under control. :)

Hiya

Thanks for popping by my diary I thought i would come and say Hi and see what your goals are, which will be met by summer i bet

Take Care
Sarah

CaseyAtMArtin, bmohearn, lanadefemme I'm glad you agree with me. I found extremely offensive the way W77 talked about my diet and my doctor. I think it's obvious that my diet reflects my origins. If it's gonna be a lifestyle change it has to be something I can deal with, not something completely different from my tastes and habits. My goal is to improve my eating habits, not to change them radically.
And I still think that was a simple case of spam.
I won't waste any more time on this subject. It's not worth it.

Rah thanks for stopping by! I wish I could reach my goals by the summer but I'm giving myself time, b/c I know I might get off track sometimes, so if I'm aiming for december I will not panick when this happens.

Tomorrow's the official weigh in. I'll keep you posted :D

Today's menu:

breakfast: 4 biscuits and 100ml milk soy
lunch: 90gr pasta with pesto alla genovese + 2 scrambled eggs + zucchini (sp?)
snack: 3 mandarin oranges + 1 apple
dinner: 90 gr bread + 170 gr fish + salad + 1 little piece of chocolate

Yesterday the kids at school brought me chocolates. I told them I couldn't eat them because the doctor said so (it's difficult to explain the concept of diet to 5 years old) and today they brought me flowers instead. How sweet they are! Of course they also have very sweet parents since they bought the flowers...I was happy all day and dieting was more easy than ever. Pity the bf came bringing chocolates tonight...But I hate only one very very little piece of white chocolate. Couldn't resist :)

very fast post b/c I've got to go to bed, I'm exhausted (11.30 pm here)

breakfast: 4 biscuits + 100 ml soy milk
snack: 1 clementine
lunch: 90 gr pasta + 150 gr trout
snack: clementines + 1 chocolate cookie
dinner: 90 gr bread + 60 gr spek (Does any of you know it?)

weigh in: 85.3 :D I've lost 1.9 kg i.e. 4.2 lbs . Oh, the joy of the first week of diet! I'll enjoy it while I can.;)

ciao!

The first week of dieting has gone great. It took some days to get used to the new way of eating and my stomach sometimes felt empty, though I had just finished eating. I've noticed that my mood has much improved and that my stomach feels way less bloated.
I'm pretty happy with the results, I've lost almost 2 kg. I know that during the first two weeks it's easy to drop weight so I'm enjoing it while I can. I know it'll be harder next week but I'm also looking forward to start losing some real weight and not just water weight.

The forum is helping me, especially through the challenge I'm in.

Next week I'm having surgery done to my jaw so I'll not be able to eat normally for a few days. I hope it will not interfere much with my weight loss.

Way to go on the weightloss!
How sweet of the children to bring you treats. And then to tell their parents that you can no longer have chocolate and to bring you flowers instead. Just gives ya a warm fuzzy feeling on the inside. I love that age group.
And just so you know tis okay to have a small nibble of chocolate as long as you fit it into you cals/diet. Which ever way you are figuring things out.
Hope your surgery goes well.
Ciao!

Hey India!

I had jaw surgery about 8 years ago. I lost about 15lbs the month following. It was pretty major surgery though, so all I felt like eating was liquid meal replacement drinks like Ensure and soup.

Congrats on your weight loss so far!

HI India,

Thanks for stopping over to my diary..so I came to check out yours!!
I am originally from Europe, just moved here about 8 years ago.
how much water do you drink during the day? It really helps curbing my hunger feeling. I sometimes substitute tea (fruit flavored, no caffeine, nothing in it) for the water. I drink about 80 oz of water a day and for me it is very helpful.
I hope your surgery will go well.
have a great day!!
Hajni

Thanks CaseyAtMartin, Steve and Hajni!

Had a day off today so it was much easier to control my eating. :) I also had time to post in some of your diaries and I enjoied it.

The bf's coming over for movie night. I'm planning to make him watch dances with wolves 'cause he's never seen it and I can't believe he hasn't.

Heya! We can be recovery buddies, haha.. although our surgeries are completely different. Glad things are going well for you! It's always nice when you can feel in control of your food. If only life was always that easy.

Man, I LOVE that movie. :D Sooooo romantic. Hehe.

Awe your boyfriend is such a sweetie! India-- it sounds like you are doing GREAT! I agree with you about people being 'know-it-alls' about food. There are so many different cultures and cuisines in this world and there are ways to eat healthy in everyone of them. You even have a doctor's advice-- which I'm sure many on her do not (I don't). Also it sounds like you eat fish often which is sooo good for you. You don't sound like you eat much processed food or fattening things like mayo and butter.

Good luck with your surgery!!

By the way - subliminal messaging writing "hate" instead of "ate" the choclate! lol. cute!

Radiant Pebble yes, we could very well be! :) After all, recovering from surgery is always hard work, no matter what kind of surgery it is.

Maverik I cry everytime I see that movie. The end's so sad...but this time I had my boyfriend there to cheer me up. It was much better :)

Jessafur I didn't realise I had written hate instead of ate...Blame my mother tongue, h has no sound for us and sometimes I get confused. :p

It's true, I don't eat much processed food b/c I don't like it. Especially mayo. Just the smell's enough to make me sick. My overweight is due mainly to salty snacks like chips and such. And bread. I could eat tons of bread. I love it. Ok, stop writing about food I like now or I'll get hungry! :D
