India's diary

It's nice to hear you have a well thought out plan, so stick to it! It'll make going to dinner with your boyfriend that much more special!

Welcome! With all the help and motivation you can get here... you'll be sure to lose that 17kg by the end of the year!

Have fun with your boyfriend tonight!

Last night before going to bed I was so hungry I ate a snack. I felt a little guilty later, but then it was a low calorie one (86) and at dinner I ate less than I could have so I guess it's all right.

Today I feel the urge of weighing myself but I'll resist the temptation. I know that the weight would be more than I would like so I'll wait for wednesday, which is my official weigh in day.

Good Morning India!!
Or is it afternoon already for you. I can never get those time differences straight! LOL :smilielol5:
Did you have a nice time with your boyfriend? What movie did you see? I love, love, love, going to the movies. I am hoping to talk my hubby into see that new National Treasure movie next week.
What will-power you have to not weigh yourself everyday. I couldn't do that.
I use the scale as a tool to remind me of what I am eating on a daily basis.
I know that it will fluctuate up and down but as long as it is in a general downward trend I am happy.
Thanks for stopping by and saying hi.
I gotta go so have a GREAT WEEKEND!!!

thanks bmohearn!

Bellaryna it's 8 pm here right now. :) Yesterday night we had a good time, I talked the bf into watching Ugly Betty and it turned out he likes it more than I do.
My will power failed at last 'cause when I got home from work I jumped on the scale. I've lost 0.5 kg (more or less 1 lb) but I know the first 2 or 3 kgs melt off easily so I wasn't excessively worried about that.

Today has been an awfully long day. It rained most of the time and the kids at school were louder than usual, 'cause they were stuck indoors all morning. One talked a girl into believing she was spidergirl so she tried to climb on a wall, failed to do so and cried for 2 hours straight. Boy, what a nightmare. I couldn't make her stop. I believe at least her lungs do have super powers.
After that I went to the hospital visiting the bf's granmother who's there because of high blood pressure. She's a very sweet old lady and I like her a lot, but unfortunately she's in a room with a crazy woman who got her butt cut on a chair(don't ask me how she did it...) and went around showing it (yes, her butt) to everybody. Gross.

I felt hungry most of the time. I still believe it's my stomach adjusting to smaller portions. Did any of you experience the same?
My menu for the day was:

breakfast: 5 crackers, 125 gr yogurt, 1 cup of tea
snack: 1/2 banana and a mandarin orange
lunch: 90 gr pasta with tomato sauce + 1 scrambled egg + 2 slices parma ham
snack: 1 apple + 1 chocolate cookie
dinner: 90 gr bread with 80 gr ham + salad with 1 teaspoon olive oil + 2 mandarin oranges

Any girl named India I would like to know as I love India. Funny you are Italian. But I was interested that you meditate. I do too. I have been twice to India and married an Indian (and divorced) so my boys are half Indian. They are 18 and 15.

You are doing great and I hope you are finding daily inspiration on the forum. You will definitely lose weight.. You are on the program now wait for the results. Don't give up before you see results. Hope this finds you healthy and happy.

My one year anniversary on the forum is coming up on Jan 7. Last year I lost twenty pounds (in four months), maintained for a while and managed to gain ten back, so my net loss was ten pounds.

I lost my enthusiasm for the forum for a whle, didn 't think I'd get it back, but the enjoyment is returning. Just like listening to music while I jog.

Find something you enjoy doing and it will keep on giving to you. Goodnight, I've got to go to bed.

Love Kelly

So you are a kindergarten teacher. Those kids must be so cute.

My name's quite peculiar, I know. :) I only hate when people say: "India? Like India Wilkes of Gone with the wind?" I read the book just to make out who she was. Unfortunately she's not a very nice character so I stick to the "India like the country" answer.

Happy anniversary!

Heya, so how have your hunger levels been? Have you tried switching over to high fiber carbs and avoiding low fiber carbs?

:smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5:* Laughing so hard about the crazy lady with a butt injury!!! *:smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5:
Just wanted to pop in real quick. I'll have more time on Monday.
Have a great day!

Hi all!

lanadefemme yes, today I ate mostly high fiber carbs and it was much better. Thanks for the good piece of advice!

Bellaryna thanks for stopping by.

everyone else, I don't have much time tonight, I'll write in all your diaries on Monday. :)

Today was a good day food wise. I didn't have much cravings but I'm going to the cinema in 40 mins and I'm worried about popcorns...I love them! It'll be hard not to buy them.

breakfast: 30 gr toasted bread, 1 cup soy milk
snack: 1 apple
lunch: 90 gr. pasta with cheese
snack: 1 pear + 1 orange
dinner: 90 gr. bread + 140 gr. roasted meat (sp?) + peas + 1 kiwi
cinema: nothing hopefully!

Maybe you can air pop your own popcorn and bring it with you? Air popped popcorn is pretty high in fiber and low calorie. Move popcorn is only bad for you because it's oil popped and butter laden.

Good job with food. Try to get some more protein! it will keep you very full, and will help with urges to munch throughout the day.

This was a funny funny funny weekend. And it was great foodwise. I've got to go to work now so I'll post something more tonight.

Have a great day everybody!

Dude, I feel for you. It is SO hard for me to go to the movies and not eat popcorn. Real easy if I'm by myself, but so hard when I go with my mom or somebody. I never buy popcorn but I always have to have a little of someone else's!

Good luck India!

About your diet - it is very rich on starch, and it’s obvious that it was made by an Italian doctor - so much pasta and cheese?? Without being an expert, I would say that you need much less of that, some more meat/proteins and way more vegetables.

1. so much pasta and cheese?? If you read my menus attentively you will notice that I get to eat cheese only twice a week. And cheese isn't all the same, there's also low fat cheese you know.
Pasta is like bread to us italians so I don't see what's wrong with eating 90 gr of pasta per day. It's a normal portion.

2. it's obvious that it was made by an Italian doctor duh.

Eating the typical white Italian bread is very likely to cause you to have food cravings soon after - it would be better if you could replace it with the dark whole grain types we eat in northern Europe.

Word is on the street that we have whole grain products in Italy too. Who would have thought?

In conclusion, I'll tell you very plainly what I think. I don't trust people who advertise so blatantly (user name, link, signature) crazy diets that promise a loss of 15 lbs a week, and who have joined a month ago but only have 3 posts total. I also think non-expert people should refrain to advice others to change their medical approved diets, since they don't know their overall health situations. I, finally, believe that induce people to think that certain foods are bad, when we all know what problems this could create is wrong.

I think I made myself quite clear.

If you have anything to say, please PM me. I'll be glad to tell you my thoughts on these matters.

I agree with you. Fad diets are ridiculous. And I don't usually trust when people tell me EXACTLY how to diet. I like suggestions. Maybe something I'm over looking.. ya know? But we (or at least I) am in this for a lifestyle change to lose weight... not a temporary fad that makes me deprive myself of everything until I lose 15 lbs a week. Your doctor knows you best, and HE/ SHE is the one that can tell you what you should be doing. No one else.

Dear India (sorry - not allowed to pm you)

I’m sorry if you and others saw my post as an advertisement - it wasn’t meant that way.
If you read my post carefully, you would see that there was no solicitation for you to use any one-week diets - I totally agree, that if you can manage it, a lifestyle change is much better - that’s why I suggested a curve to help you keep track…
But I firmly believe, that it would be better for you, if you could find a way to eat some more vegetables - the suggested salad has helped both me and others, who - like you - are not in love with green stuff, to actually being able to eat (and like eating) much more vegetables. To avoid making the post even longer, I just linked to the salad, but next time I want to suggest it to someone, I’ll type it directly, to avoid being accused of spamming.

Hope you will give the salad - and yourself - a chance, even if you decide to edit out this post also.

Best regards Karsten
