true, now that i think of it my sensei is a bit of an ass sometimes... he's extremely strong and skilled at shotokan, but i dont think he knows how to teach it well... as far as the class being a belt factory, id have to disagree. 5 years is plenty of time to get a black belt, and as aevans has stated, black belt means you've just hit the tip of the iceberg and have just qualified to start learning real shotokan. its just that ive had a month of this "real" shotokan and it doesn't seem much different than "pre-black belt" shotokan. i just want to learn some other style of karate-do, or maybe a different sport altogether, perhaps boxing, as long as it's a physical sparring sport; im basically looking for a "fighting with rules" sport.
