I'm tired of being shaped like a potato

I'm tired of being shaped like a potato/pear. It's time to start doing something about it. Starting tomorrow, it's on.

I just made an emotastic introduction post in the appropriate section, so I won't ramble too much here.

Any support you can provide me along the way would be much appreciated. I've been having a terrible time with weight loss and I need the encouragement.

Tomorrow's action items:
Weight myself and get a ticker working.
Sign up for zipcar. (part of my master plan to get myself an exercise machine.)

Hey! Welcome to the forum! I find posting what I eat/exercise each day really helps...and having people to chat with who understand how you feel is great! Keep it up! You sound like you're off to a positive start!

OK, but potatoes and pears DO taste good right?? Gotta look at the upside. LOL Congrats on your plan. What's this zipcar thing all about?

Hello and welcome to the forum! It's wonderful that you've decieded to change your lifestyle! There's a ton of support to be found on this website, and I hope it's useful to you!

!?!

Holy crap are you people responsive. I was expecting one, maybe two posts by the time I got around to posting today. Yeesh.

Thanks everyone. I do appreciate it very much.

Alright. I now have an operational ticker for my long term goal, which is in my signature.

I stepped on the scale today for the first time in a couple of weeks, cringing and ready for the worst. I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting 232ish, when it turned out to be 223. I'm not sure where that 10 pounds went but I hope it stays there.

My first short term goal is 210. I like to have short and long term goals.

I'd like to buy a pedometer, too. Due to factors outside of my control, I have to do a lot of walking on weekdays or go broke paying cab fees. I guess that's turning into quite a blessing at the moment. I'm going to walk that distance anyway, but being able to enumerate things helps me stay motivated, so I want a pedometer so I can count the steps and miles just for the fun of it.

To the person who asked, zipcar is a neat car rental service where you can rent cars in as low as half hour increments if you like, and usually on an extremely short notice. I live in a big city and recently sold my car because they are a pain to own and operate here, so it's awful handy for people like myself who need to haul stuff around or just want to go somewhere for the weekend and don't own a car. I still have to sign up for the service tonight, but I've dug up all the information I need.

Again, thank you everyone for reading/posting, and I'll be checking out your threads as well, sooner than later.

Action item for Friday: appropriate a decent pedometer.

Welcome to WLF and your diary Jeff; with a plan like yours, walking and getting a pedometer...you'll do fine. What's your eating plan?

Time for a proper post now that I'm not falling over asleep with work a disturbingly short number of hours away.

In regards to previous action items: I've signed up for zipcar and am awaiting my zipcard in the mail. It will take up to two weeks. Once that comes in, I'll start shopping the classifieds around town for a decent exercise machine. I don't want to pay a ginormous amount of money for one, and it looks like a lot of people want to just get rid of them so I can pick a used one up awful cheap. Once I find one, I'll just rent a truck through zipcar and haul it home.

Apparently I can't log in to update my ticker from here, so I'll do it later tonight on my home computer.

I expect my weight to fluctuate a lot. I weigh myself later in the evening after dinner, so it's always going to depend on what and how much I ate that evening. I also drink diet soda at a rate that can only be described as inhuman, so fluid retention will come into play as well.

2skinny: my eating plan is assorted crazyness. I know it's not the healthy way, but over the years I've found that it's the only way that has ever worked for me. I usually switch things up about every once a week, so I'm never following the same plan for very long.

Deanna Lynn: I'm not doing any exercise other than my walking. However, I do walk a minimum of about five miles per day on weekdays as part of my daily commute. I also did some extra walking yesterday before weighing myself. I gave up the car...but it seems I left a tire around my waistline that I'm hoping all this walking will help me get rid of. : )

Man, that was a terrible joke.

I'll post again really late when I get in from the concert I'm going to tonight with my daily weigh in and all that. I expect it to fluctuate upwards, and that's fine. Weight loss isn't an overnight battle, unfortunately.

Wow, you do stay up late. Those days are long gone for me. I used to see the occasional sunrise from hanging out all night. Now I regularly see it because my baby boy has decided he's ready to start his day. Anyhoo, have fun at your concert tonight. It's so smart that you gave up your car and are walking instead. Get ready 210, here you come!

Great job on the walking! I wish I lived close enough to something that I could give up my car and do some extra walking!! Sounds like you're staying positive which is great!

Remember to drink lots of water!
:D

Hello again, everyone. Life interrupted my daily posting goal. This can actually still count as my Friday post cause I haven't went to bed yet. Busy busy busy.

Thursday: 222. Here was the expected upswing.
Friday: 220. Followed by a slight downward dip.

I've bought a pedometer, and I believe my zipcard is waiting for me with my mail. It's been an excellent couple of days.

I'll post again later with today's weight. I'm exausted. I'm going for a nap before I have to get back up.

Hi Jeff. Hope you do well with your new way of living.
Tip: Try to get a lot of "every day" excercise. Walk/take the bike instead of driving your car. Rake the stairs instead of the elevator....that works for me..:)

Glad things are going well and you're enjoying yourself. It does sound like you should get more sleep though ;) It definitely helps with the weight loss.

Keep up the positive attitude, :D

Quick late post again. More to come when it's not so late.

Saturday: 220.
Sunday: 220.

Holding steady. I've been doing well on monitoring food intake, and I did a ton of walking over the weekend.

Tomorrow is an official day off from dieting day since I have a company paid lunch. Here's hoping I don't overdue it.

Night night.

Monday: 219.

I agree, I need more sleep. And more time in general. C'est la vie, no?

Cakeman, I've been working on that a lot recently. I always walk up escalators instead of just standing there using the lift. Stairs are a better option if they are available.

Deanna: I did get my pedometer, but it doesn't seem to work too well. I walked for 45 minutes to work and only seems to have recorded 15 minutes of it. I haven't had the time to play around with any of the settings or figure out if I did something wrong. I'll get around to it when I have some time, but it's not a big deal to me right now.

Sunshine: I've been drinking lots of water, but I find it annoying. I hate having to pee every 30 minutes.

They say after 2 weeks of chugging water, you don't have to pee as often? Hasn't happened to me yet, I still have to go every five minutes! lol.

How was the company lunch ? Lots of yummy foods?

Hey! thanks for visiting my diary. It looks like you are doing great! Keep up the good work, and if you keep dropping, you'll be at your goal in no time!

Good morning, all.

Tuesday: 215.6. Crazy! I expect an upswing when I weigh later today, maybe tomorrow. I'm guessing 218.

Nic: The company lunch was good. I swear food tastes better when it's expensive and you aren't paying for it. You can just taste the freeness. I'm proud of myself because I normally royally screw up whenever there is free food sitting around. I have a hard not not eating it when it's just sitting there and doesn't cost anything. I ordered my entree, which wasn't a diet item but wasn't flabtastic (I just made up that word. Isn't it awesome?). I had a bit of the appetizers and skipped on the free bread. Yay me!

Deanna: You're always so exuberant. I'm glad you post in my journal. I haven't input my stride into my pedometer. It's just laying around on my desk. It will probably be a great waste of $30. I'm still motivated to get out and walk without worrying about counting the steps or anything, so it's not hampering my progress.

Xorie: Thanks for the support.

It's been a great week. I hope it's going as well for everyone reading.

Did you manage to get the pedometer working?

It sure is hard to pass up the bread, but not even because its free, its just so damn good! Better than the entree in my book (unless you're at some really *flabtastic* restaurant.).

Let us know what you're eating and stuff.
