So I decided to start you up today. I am here for one goal: to lose weight. I have ALWAYS been the fat kid, and I've always punked out and quit.

There is one thing that I hate the most: my chest. Typical man-boobs. I literally cannot wear the things that I like because of this simple fact...I'll tuck in a wife-beater along with a Tee in addition to whatever I am about to wear; just to make sure they don't shake as bad. I LONG for the day to be flat chested...like a male should be...and I've dreamt for the day all of my life. Ever since I was a little kid...and now I'm seventeen and I've still been fat. I won't even run because they'll start shaking and...I'm a GUY! So I work out alone in my house...put this freaking treadmill to some good use.

I've been a solo type of guy lately ever since my house was robbed in September. And recently they dropped the case due to lack of evidence (my atthetime best friend was our main suspect, and he switched up on me.) Now he's running his mouth and wants to brawl. Especially since he's in a gang now...I mean I've got my people but I just dont wanna ruin my life. However I would rather ruin it with some balls than run and live with my dads in the suburbs 20 minutes away..change schools etc. I HAVE TO LOSE WEIGHT AND GET IN SHAPE FOR THIS REASON AS WELL. I need to move, and know how to defend myself. Get stronger, tougher, and faster...as safely and as effectively as I possibly can. Just in case...I'm not out to start a fight or anything. I don't like fighting that much.

I am goal oriented and VERY DRIVEN. But at the same time I'm the biggest waste of talent ever. I'm a slacker in my mind...but I always seem to pull straight A's outta my ass. And Division I ratings left and right in my singing (which I love..).

I have never been thin. I see all these people on here who've dropped a ton of weight; and I will do the same. If not then I will not be happy.

I will be starting my food diary tomorrow. I'm planning on just, moderation. I love to eat and I doubt that will change. I just have to eat the right things more than I eat the bad things. If I crave fast food (and I usually do a few times a week...I'm in High School what can ya do?) I will just say "Okay go blow seven dollars at Subway."(I'm a penny pincher as well.)

I'm a carbs maniac...If yall read my other thread in Before and After then you'd know why. You know how hard it was eating a little cup of pasta for supper? But I did it. If weight loss was easy then there wouldn't be 31094913040431 people being obese in this world. I saw that posted somewhere :).

Plan is to burn 350 calories on the treadmill with a combination of walking, jogging, and sprinting.

MAX WEIGHT: 242 lb
CURRENT WEIGHT: 238 lb
GOAL WEIGHT: 200 lb (by June 1st, 2007)

OH, and if anybody has a lifestyle in mind that I won't starve and I still get to eat bread(and meat a few times a week), post it! :).

What sucks is that I don't really like salad and eggs. I am starting to really like fruit though. I'll throw up if I eat too much salad for some reason.

And I LOVE CARROTS and BANANAS lately ever since I started this thing a week ago...I usually have been going between 234-238..and I would like to get from 230-234 by valentine's day so I can look sexy for the Snow Ball ;).

You can definitely lose that weight. Sounds like you'll be smart about it too. Fruit rocks. I spend my old junk food money on fruit. Welcome to the forum.
 
I don't know what a lot of these actually ARE, but I'm estimating..I could have done worse today, but could've done better.

Breakfast: 540 cal :(

1 English Muffin Sausage sandwich w/cheese 400 cal
1 Skim Milk 90 cal
1 Orange Juice 50 Cal

Lunch: 715 cal :(

1 Chicken Sandwich on a wheat bun 300 cal
1 Mashed Potatoes and Gravy 250 cal
1 one cup of Pears...maybe 75 cal
1 Skim Milk 90 cal

Snack: 70 cal

2 Peppermints 25 cal ea.
ONE BITE OF A FROSTIE...probably like 20 cal lol:) from Wendy's

Dinner: 580 cal =\

1 Walking Taco 450 cal probably (had doritos, ground beef, cheese, sour cream and salsa)
1 Gatorade 130 cal

TOTAL: 1865 cal.

Damn actually that's not bad for somebody who's 240, is it? I have to eat like 2400-2500 a day to maintain my weight with exercise.

Exercise: Not yet...I'm beat from singing...do you think I should just get up in the morning and burn the 350 from yesterday, hence boosting my metabolism and I can burn another 350 that night?

Good points:
-I chose Gatorade over pop.
-Said no to Burger King
-Told close friends I was going to lose it so I have no turning back. Don't wanna be a liar now :).
- Said no to Pizza.
- Said no to cheesy bread.
- ONE BITE OF A FROSTIE FROM WENDYS AND I PUT IT DOWN.

What I think I should do:
-Spread out my calories more
-Smaller meals...least favorite part lol.
-350 calories is hard to burn for me...but should I amp it up? If so, when should I? After a month or something?
 
You might want to check out Sparkpeople.com. They have great food tracking programs & it has helped me realize just what I'm eating & how fast it all adds up. Like I know if I blow 900 calories on lunch, I need to take it easy on dinner.

Good luck & hang in there. Stress can be a killer on the diet, but there are only 24 hours in a day. If you can get through 'em you are one step closer to the future.
 
Also I'm not sure how you are doing on drinking water, but that can help with the in between food times & making you feel "full". It helps your metabolism too I have heard.

& you have my respect for passing on pizza. I have been craving it like crazy lately!
 
Yes and there's a birthday party with tons of it tomorrow that I am attending. :(.

UGH. I'm not going to eat just once piece. Just cant lol. Maybe if I do my 350 in the morning that will boost my metabolism so I can have four slices (which is like a thousand cal..=\).

But my goal is to eat two and chugg water (which I have been doing, just not a lot today because I've been at school all day).
 
Howdy, have you thought about lifting weights? If you do your cardio everyday plus lift 3 times a week you will increase muscle mass. The more muscle you have on your body the more calories you burn regardless of the activity. Plus, it will help you gain that chest you've always wanted. Good luck.
 
Good luck at the party.

Just remember where is it is that you are trying to get to & really think about whether that pizza will help you get there or just delay your arrival.

& the pieces that you end up eating, be sure that you are actually eating slowly & being conscience of what you are eating. You might find that you want less. I know I used to just inhale pizza & want more. When I started listening to my body instead of my hand & eyes, I realized that I could be satisfied with less. Its hard, but you can do it if this is what you really want.
 
Hello there! I'm 17 too! I was the fat kid that got made fun of in elementary. I know how you feel. I'm very driven also, but have no talent. I'm sure you have talent too. My dream is to be thin too, not just to look good, but so people will take me seriously. We seem to have the same goals. I know you can do it. Nothing is better than proving someone wrong. Victory not Vengeance! lol.

You did really good on your intake yesterday! Keep up the good work! How was the party? Pizza is a weak spot for me too, just eat them slowly like MoonGoddess said. Hope you have an awesome day.
 
Hey and welcome.

I am also a carbs freak, and I have always been really fussy about my food -I hate fruit, and I don't really like salad... or dairy products lol. Or much meat. So yeh, even if you're fussy it's possible :) You just have to grin and bear it. I've actually learnt to like a lot more foods now.

You sound like you're thinking long-term and planning things out sensibly :) so that's a great start. Good luck with this.

1 PC Taco Pizza 120 cal (BBQ as the sauce and full of lettuce and a little bit of cheese...it SUCKED)
1 Dab of Macaroni Salad 100 cal
1 Glass Diet Coke (made my stomach hurt...I'm not drinking pop for a long time) 0 cal

Good things:
-Diet Coke over Coke
-VERY Full so I can probably wait till eightish to snack on something
-Did my workout in the morning so I felt energized

TOMORROW I WILL:
-Drink more water
-Space my meals out more

I'll update this later after I go to the movies. I'll probably have a thing of candy or something. Actually screw that I'll have a few pieces and drink lots of water so I have to piss the whole time.
 
Hi there, my b/f had a problem with man boobs too and he started lifting weights and they've all but gone, not fully as he still has some weight to lose, but nothing like they were.
In males sometimes when they gain weight their hormones get mixed up and they produce more female hormones, thus man boobs!if you work at it now with exercise then there is no reason for you not to get rid of them completely but it has to be something you'll stick to.
One he does is what he calls jesus on the cross, he lies on the floor and holds his arms out off the floor for a count to 10 or 20 and he feels all the chest area tightening. And he's a pizza freak too ;)

Your lunch wasn't THAT bad, especially if you spread it over a few hours... but 6 slices of ambrosia is still a bit much. It could definitely have been worse though, so do NOT let it phase you!

How did the movies go?
 
Haha I went on a date and I didn't eat anything.

Bad thing though...had McDonalds, about 750 cal worth. It was at midnight too :((((( Gosh.

Oh well...I'm doing the best I've ever done in my life. I'll do better next week :).

I'm not very hungry due to the McDonalds but I will get some Applesauce this morning so I can speed up my metabolism a bit.
 
It's really not about when you eat, it's about how much...

Keeping your calories under what you need to maintain, and you will lose weight.

Do you have the ability to go to the grocery store and stock up on some healthier eating options?

And you're right, taking small steps, but steps in the right direction is a good place to start :)
 
Unfortunately, no. My mom however stocked the house with apples and bananas and all of the goods. Which sucks...I'm a frozen food type of guy...I get home and I want a hot pocket :).
 
I know what you mean, and frozen food is so convenient, too. So consider what I am doing, which is purchasing decent frozen foods you know will satisfy you.
I went to Costco and got Philly cheesesteak sandwiches (420 cal), and cheesy chicken chimichangas (300 cal), and a bunch of canned meats that come in servings in the 200-400 calorie range. They are cheap, taste good, and I can eat them and be full (most of the time).
Hot pockets aren't all that bad, if you avoid the REALLY fat-filled ones. I've thought about buying them before, but I just don't get filled up, so I have a couple of them which defeats the whole purpose. If they work for you... then they work, so set a snack into your meal plan that includes one.

The goal is to get your eating problem to where it isn't a problem. If you were already on top of your problem, then you wouldn't be working so hard to fix it and feeling bad because you enjoyed some cheating foods so much. Getting satisfied with a portion of food is a good thing... but try to have an apple or whatever while the snack is in the microwave :D

1 Half of Starbucks Mint Frap 100 cal.

Haven't eaten anyhting else yet. MY TREADMILL's CONVEYOR BELT IS BEING FUNNY AND I KEEP SLIPPING ON IT SO I CUT MY EXERCISE IN HALF (175 CAL) UNTIL IT GETS FIXED.

I also added some flat press reps so I can build some muscle by the time the the Sears guy comes out...

Question: Has this treadmill thing ever happened to anybody? How did you fix it? Maybe I'm dragging my feet too much...because once I got in my socks it was easier. But I've been running the same for like a week and a half now..=/

And my mom ordered pizza. DAMMIT.

Sounds like you are sticking with it even through the days you feel you didn't do so well! That's definitely a good thing, because everything can't be on spot every day!

I love Italian food, especially Pizza! However, when I do get pizza and it's ordered out, I go for the veggie pizza's with thin crust or just pepperoni (no doubling meat). I have also found that the Lean Cuisine Pizza's are really pretty good, and if you add to them some fruit or other healthy option to create a more balanced meal, that might be something you could aim for and still get your pizza.

Also, do you watch your fat intake?
 
No I don't watch my fat intake. I know it's a lot that's for sure (I'm fat :)).

Good news:

Had 1 piece of pizza

Bad news:

445 calories? JESUS! Bye bye stuffed crust..
Plus I had Two Crackers (70) and a banana (100)

So a total of 1695 calories. So I did good. Plus I worked out and burned 350..the treadmill went just fine today :-\.

Here's the plan: drink 16.9 oz of water in 40 minutes. If I'm still hungry after that then I'll just..ugh...I don't know. Do something to get this nice cheesy craving pizza thing out of my mouth.
