I feeeeel goood nananaaaana naaa

Hey Brawny, your post sneeked in there whilst I was posting! lol

I would love to get some low cal Tex Mex or Mex recipes :D We don't really eat a lot of it here, and all my American friends who have been to Australia tell me that our Mex Restaurants are crap LOL probably true!!! But we do have some of the best Asian food in the world!!!

Give the curry ago if you are feeling adventurous! it is pretty easy dispite the long list of ingredients!!!

I love mexican food. If anyone has some dishes, pass them this way. My mom makes a real good chili verde, which shouldnt be all that high in calories/fat. I'll try and snag the recipe from her.

I went Austrailia years ago. Had some great food, but I went to this "authentic" Texas steakhouse. Well I ordered iced tea, well that put them in overload. They finally brought out a glass of ice and poured hot tea over it. Now thats funny to a Texas boy.

LOL yeah some of those so called places are really bogus and we know they are not authentic!!! hahaha Same as the "Outback" steakhouses over there.. they aren't Australian either :p

We do have some mighty fine foods, and a huge variety, but Mex and or Tex Mex is not something we do well for some reason. Not really sure why... there are plenty of restaurants all selling the same old tired stuff. I only know of one good place in Sydney, and it does more Cajun style of food.. yummy though! And wow.. even though I love hot food.. the Jalepeno (sp?) poppers almost blew my head off LOL

Well... I know I said I wasn't going to .. but I just weighed myself and I have lost the weight I put on over the weekend... AND anothe Kilo :D OMG!!! So I am two Kilo's (4.4 pounds) down from my last weigh in on Monday!!!

 :hurray:

congrats on the weightloss kori! your doing fab!

i just noticed your from australia and was wondering if you were following this season of the biggest loser? i had been following it really closely from start to about three quarter way of the season, then only just today caught up on the finale...my goodness the transformations those contestants underwent in just 3 months was AMAZING! i almost couldn't believe it! (i'd never watched the programme before so it's my first time seeing the transformations).

there's a UK version that's just started, funny enough it appears kinda low-budget and rather boring in comparison to the australian version.

oh well, just thought i should give it a mention....otherwise glad to see your doing great.

Thanks MsY!!!

Thanks Cherry! :D

I started watching it this year (first time ever, I guess I was in a weight loss mood this year :p ) But gave it up when all the game playing and dramatics kicked in.. I seriously hate all that crap and never watched Survivor or Big Brother etc because of it!!!

I wish someone would do a proper weight loss show.. but I guess 1. it ain't sexy to show a 1kg a week loss.. and 2. The producers of such shows are lazy and want filming to be over in a few months.. not years!!! LOL

I love the transformations though! Wowsers some of those people did well - but you do wonder if they will keep it off!

lol! i know! once that 'game playing' started i was like WTF? if i want to watch people being all sly and selfish and kicking the good people out then i'll just go watch survivor!

it was so sad to see the people who were more deserving have to leave just because some selfish contestants are in it for the money alone. that's when i also started to loose interest so stopped following it for quite a while then caught up on the finale just to know who won and see how they transformed.

you definitely raise a good question, i'm also curious to find out if they'd keep the weight off. there's a thread i read on here quite a while back about a follow up that was done on some of the US biggest loser contestants a few years later (i guess the ones who were in the very first seasons), apparently loads of them have put back on the weight and then some! quite sad actually and quite frankly a little scary. i always pray when i get to my goal weight that i'll stay there for life and never ever put on the weight again.

Thanks MsY!!!

Thanks Cherry! :D

I know.. very annoying and in the end I just thought it was BS :icon_bs: To encourage the worst Bitchy Backstabbing behaviour in people when they should have been encouraging a supportive positive environment!

Some you think will make it long term, but I think others where there for the wrong reasons ie.. to win a game and large prize money...rather than to improve their health.. and I doubt those people will keep it off long.

Never watched biggest loser or anything like that but I LOVE those dosumentaries that show very obese people deal with their problems. There was one about the academy of the sierras (a school for obese teens) which was excellent. I also watch them if they are about surgery although (like most of us on this board) I am skeptic.

Have a great week, Camy

Ive not been on here in a while!! glad to hear you are doing so well.... I am also pleased with myself... having been thinking for a long time that my efforts havent been working I have recently been losing a lot of weight. I started out at 9 st 6 and I am now 8st 12. so Ive managed to lose 9lbs. I seem to be losing a pound or two every day and am aiming to get to 8 st. Although my BMI is in the healthy range, I am only 5 ft 1 and I used to be very small until I put on a lot of weight suddenly after going on the contraceptive pill at 16. So after 5 yrs of being unhappy about my weight im finnaly on the road to changing it. I too have tried many diets... this is the most successful ive been so far... just hope I dont slack or give up!! Ive basicaly been eating a small breakfast; i.e. Cereal or porridge... then working out in the gym everyday for a couple of hours... including walking 5km in preperation for a couple of charity races this year... i normally dont eat lunch and I have a light dinner. I have been taking ephedrine... only been taking a low dose.. it really has suppressed my appetite and given me the energy boost needed to get up and go to the gym everyday. I have been losing 1-2lbs a day.. and id say its down to a combination of my efforts and the ephedrine.. tho I will stop taking these soon as I am not wanting to become dependent on them for weight loss tho they have given me the kick start i needed. I have also just started taking alli - the frst non prescription diet pill availble in the uk. I had a dominoes pizza tonight... completley wrong of me i know.. well i ended up eating half and with the alli pill i am hoping that I wont have absorbed all of the fat which is in the pizza. Will weigh myself in the morning to see if the pizza made me put on any weight fingers crossed it didint. Ive not had any side effects as yet... but will keep this updated as i hear the side effects from alli can be quite unpleasent. any tips or adive please write back... im really hoping to get chatting to people who are in the same position... dieting is so difficult and weight loss seems to be such a slow process... just wish i hadnt have gotten myself into the size that i am now in the first place.

good luck to the fellow dieters!!

OH I think I saw that one! Or am I thinking of the brat camp Doco's.. or maybe I saw both LOL

Documentaries are about my fave non-fiction TV but I only like really well made ones.

Hey Kori,
Thank you for visiting my diary. I am quite complicated, I am originally from Argentina, but lived all over Europe in my childhood. Then I studied medicine in England, in London, and just started working last October in a hospital in Ghana doing "medicins sans frontier" type work. I work in a neonatal unit and a labour ward.
But while there I have applied to do my specialty in genetic counselling in Barcelona. Only very few places are offered for this specialty as it is quite different from most other specialties (very much leaning on psychology). I am hoping to start this October there. That is kind of when I would like to be at goal because a completely new chapter of my life will start then.

Where are you from? What is your story?

Hi Brawny!

Thai Turkey cakes (patties)

or you can make cocktail sized meat balls with the same recipe!

500gm (1lb) 5 star very Lean Turkey Mince (ground meat) - 735 (Chicken can be used in stead, just take note of the Calories)
2 tbspns grated fresh Ginger - 15
3 cloves Garlic - 13
half cup finely chopped fresh Corriander (Cilantro) - 10
Half cup finely chopped fresh Mint - 10
3 shallots (spring onions/scallions) finely chopped - 20
225gm tin Water Chestnuts chopped - 82
2 tbspn Sweet Chilli Sauce - 70
1 tbspn Red Curry Paste - 20
1 tbspn Fish Sauce - 6
juice and grated zest of half a lime
1 tbspn Rice Flour - 60

Total Approximate Calories: 1041 divide by the amount of patties. (7) = 148 each

Mix all ingredients together really well, and then with wet hands form
into small patties or even smaller cocktail balls.

Pan Fry in a non-stick pan until golden brown and cooked through - or bake in medium oven until done.

Serve with Thai Style salad, or Stir Fry Veggies, or with dipping sauce if you want the little cocktail ones.

Wow.. interesting, you must have experienced a lot of different cultures in your travels! It must be so different working in a 3rd world country as a Doctor I admire your commitment! I hope you do get your specialisation placement! Can't say I have ever heard of Genetic Counselling as such tho.. but then I am not a medical person LOL

AS for me.. I am Australian, have travelled a bit, plan on doing more... married to a great guy for 15 years, I work for myself in a creative field and am what you might call an artist I guess. Nothing so noble as what you are doing LOL

Best wishes for your new Chapter Camy, may it be all you wish for and more!

Hehe dont you LOVE THAT hehe. Had pizza and beer last night... buuuut... i dont regret it ONE BIT.... it was well worth it. ah..... RELAXING :)

Hey M_Marie!

I love spending time with Family and friends and having a few drinks (or many) is a big part of that for everyone I know.. I don't really want to give that up, so I have to learn how to moderate and "budget" for the calories :p

I had a few wines and a lot of talking and laughing with my hubby last night, and as it turned out I was still under calories for the day!! woo hooo! So that is what I need to be doing.. reducing the amount and frequency that I drink, and then adjusting food accordingly.. and looking on it as a treat thing.. But yeah it was a great night last night, very relaxing and fun!

Psyllium Husks are plant seed husks that are used as a fiber additive.. they basically are very cleansing for your intestinal tract.. I have a Family history that includes bowel cancer so need to be pretty aware of the amount of fiber I get, this is a really easy way of getting sufficient :)

more here...

LOL good on you for not weighing in until Friday!!! Maybe we should start the "I will ONLY weigh myself on a Friday" club :p

Thanks for your support!!!

:drool5: i am going to make this tomorrow night! thanks!!!

really enjoying your journal, btw :) great job so far

Hi jmlls!

I hope you enjoy them! please let me know how it went for you :) BTW.. the rice flour is pretty necessary, I found the first one I made (without the rice flour) just broke up in the pan.. if you don't have rice flour I guess any other kind of flour would do the job but I haven't tested that :)

And thanks! I am enjoying doing the journal, find it really helps :D
