Last night I cooked a healthy stir fry for tea. I think it was the baby sweetcorn that did it...Both of us were up all night with chronic indigestion:rotflmao:

Hi Polly
I am 60 so I know that losing it is hard. I have discovered that quick fixes are just that What I have decided to do is focus on a lifestyle change that will encompass not only losing weight but making healthier choices both eating and exercising. Being retired you have more time on your hands so it is important to watch out for what I call Boredom eating which I do a bit but I am now being careful of that as well as learning what foods are not good for me and why. I would like to keep in touch to keep abreast of our progress and encouragement. I have given up potato chips and lots of empty snacks and I am drinking more water best of luck keep in touch

Exactly what I'm doing. Good luck

Quite a warm day today so I have got out summer clothes. Lovely surprise... they are all much slacker around the middle:party:

Salad for tea this afternoon. Now there is just the two of us and we are eating healthily, Sunday Lunch doesn't happen very often. Tomorrow I am putting a pork and sun dried tomato in the slow cooker. My mum would turn in her grave at this next bit... Later on this morning I am going grocery shopping. When I was a youngster,Sunday morning was church, whatever the weather. Years ago, when I became a Humanist, she thought it was pagan!
Update on those birds: We now have house martins at one end of the roof and house sparrows at the other.. counting the days until they fledge and we can sleep past dawn.
A couple at the bottom of the hill has had their sycamore in the back garden cut down. There were birds nesting in it. Our close is in uproar

Is C.T. Connecticut John? If it is then I've been to Old Saybrook in the dim and distant past
It is Connecticut. Old Saybrook is a nice little town, and a completely random place to visit from another country!

Don't like house sparrows, they're loud and remind me of an avian episode of Jersey Shore.

I was working over there, a friend had relatives in Hartford, I loved Connecticutand we spent a holiday just poddling around.

I AM SUFFERING FROM SLEEP DEPRIVATION. The little b*ggers have me awake at dawn. A marching band could pass through our bedroom and my husband would sleep through it all. The house sparrows are the noisiest, and we have another sparrow who doesn't appear to be attached to any female. He sits on the TV aerial and chirps all day.We have named him Chops. The house martins are at the other end of the house so we don't hear too much from them.
Beryl, the blue tit nesting in a box in the garden has fledged all hers. We've put some food near the nest because she looked pretty bedraggled after they all gone and we are trying to build her upand hoping she is still around

I live in NY City. The elevated trains which run 24 hours is about 150 feet from my apartment. When they pass they drown out every thing. It is a beautiful sunny day I have gone to the park for my daily walk. The park is beautiful. There is a track that you can actually walk around and with a little music all you see are other people jogging, exercising and playing football. With the music playing it is a very serene place All the exercising is being done quietly with bits of people chatter or laughter. I watch people walking together while I am walking and stopping every so often to do squats or push ups. I am changing my diet as well. I have a bunch of articles about low fat carbs and low impact exercises I am saving and it is making me shop differently. I am starting a life style change that will not only allow me to lose weight and become more fit, but will stay with me through the years. I have some help that soon I hope to share with you and everyone. Thanks for writing back

PS I love gardens and peaceful surroundings I find you can concentrate better, think better and minus the early birds that are waking you up gardens help to relax you so I love your description of your surroundings

Yeah they put so many things in health foods that it will kill you but how else are you gonna get medical bills you can't afford?

Exactly. For years I bought 'healthy' low fat spread for my family. Then I saw an article about what chemicals were in these spreads:eek: and I changed back to good old butter. It's the same with coffee; they use so many chemicals to remove the caffeine from it that you would be wise to stick with 'proper' coffee than decaff.
How is everyone?I am being spoilt rotten. Because I have lost so much weight my husband has let me loose in clothes shops and I', shopping like its gone out of fashion!

I agree with Cate (as usual ;) ) and I can just imagine how much your husband enjoys watching you enjoy yourself :)

Excellent Polly;)
Always good to treat and reward yourself for a job well done So what did you get for yourself and what is next as you continue on. I haven't weighed myself yet, but I feel great just from doing the exercise and changing my diet. So I will continue forward. Kudos to you:hurray:

Well, to be honest I feel very guilty spending our money on myself. I have donated all my fat clothes to a charity shop (British Heart Foundation) they helped my husband no end after his coronary.

1 peasant blouse with navy embroidery.
2chiffon type tops 1 turquoise/whie 1 grey/white
3 gypsy (what I call boho) skirts 1 white 1 blue1black
1 pair of beige cotton trousers
white camisole
1pair silver sandals
1pair gold sandals
1 pair slippers to put on when I'd finished shopping:svengo:my feet weren't right until the nextday
