Can glycogen stores empty in one day through activity? I'm a wheelchair user and I'm working on losing weight but have read that glycogen stores need to be depleted for fat burning to be optimal. Can anyone tell me how long any physical activity needs to be sustained for in order for glycogen to empty? I guess it depends on what type of activity and how long for. I can push my chair around for up to a mile each day. Would this be enough to empty them? What about weight lifting? How long through lifting weights will glycogen be depleted?
Tomorrow I am going on a low carb diet, around 100g of carbs for a while.
Thanks.
