Hey Lisa! I am still reading and coming to this site, I will keep up with your diary for sure! I just won't be updating mine as much
Holiday's were rough for me too... soo many carbs! Blah. But if you're still getting some exercise here and there, that's better than nothing!
The other day, I read my old journal and looked back at all my weigh in's and measurements. It was fun to read, especially seeing everyone's support (you, marie, melissa, marathon man). I miss it! It was also cool to see the exercises I recorded... for example, I wrote about using the elliptical with resistance at 3 and incline at 10... now I use it with resistance at 10 and incline at 20! I also used to run on the treadmill at 5.5 mph and thought THAT was fast... now I run at 6.8 mph!! So even though I did see how my measurements and weight have gone up which was a little upsetting, I was happy to see how much I have improved in my strength and endurance!
I hope you get out of your slump sooner than later... but this is what happens during the holiday's... it's normal!!
So I read what you wrote in my journal... and I want to say that even though you aren't at the same place that I am in my journey... maybe it's time that you too should re-evaluate what you want... (here goes my rant)
Now I'm not saying that you must change your goals or forget about them... but I think you need to look back to where you started at the beginning of this year and see where you are now and what has all happened in between. I've followed you throughout this journey... I KNOW you have drive and determination... I KNOW you have changed your lifestyle for the better... I KNOW you are strong... you have come SO far. But have you ever thought about where your body is comfortable vs. where you
feel like it would be comfortable?
Maybe you are fighting too hard against your body... as you read in my journal, I know that my body can't keep off the 20 pounds I had lost... but it CAN keep off the 15 or so! So maybe your body can't keep off the 80 pounds you had lost... but it CAN keep off the 70 or so! Look at what you are capable of and what you have accomplished and appreciate it for what it's worth! Are you really going to be happy, inside and out, if or when you reach your goal weight? Do you think this goal is realistic and that your body is meant to be that size? If you do... go for it! But if you feel like you are struggling too much to get there... it's not YOUR fault... maybe it's just because your body isn't meant to be that size!
I feel like our journeys have been so similar, we have gone through the same struggles in trying to reach our goals. I know I don't stand alone when I say that you have come a long way Lisa and you look AMAZING as you are already! You have gained so much strength and endurance... you ran a fricken HALF MARATHON in just a little over 2 hours this year... WOW!!! Did you ever imagine you could accomplish something like that? Do you realize how GREAT that is?! Lisa... you are AMAZING, strong, and beautiful! Give yourself a pat on the back for what you HAVE done... try to stop thinking about what you "haven't" done. You seriously rock, and you deserve to give yourself some more credit!
Ok... end rant!
I hope I didn't offend you in any way with what I said, and I hope you understand what I mean... wherever you are in your journey is wherever you want to be and I will support you no matter what. I just think that you and I both deserve a little bit of a break and some credit for how much we have improved ourselves and our lives from September 2009 to right now.
Enjoy the rest of your time off from work and have a happy new years!
