hi

hi everybody im new to this board

Im 14 years old my names Ray

I want to post up a pic to see what i can improve i want to work on my chest and abs. I do some crunches and push-ups and i play lots os basketball

I'll appreciate any comments :D

im jealous; you have a nice enough stomach. i say you should bulk; the only thing that looks small is your shoulders(not that i dont have puny shoulders too). Post another thread in the weight training section about how to bulk if you want to or you can just look through the threads and i am SURE you will find one. some of the guys you should trust around here are: mreik, cynic, bipennate, LV, evolution, jungleb, xtonyx ect ect. they know stuff

lol u think u ask a lot of questions?! u should have seen me when i got on first. anyway, bulking means putting on as much lean muscle mass as you can while also gaining fat. It sounds bad but it is the easiest way[gaining pure muscle w/o gaining fat is very very hard and not worth it(to me)]we dont care that we gain fat because after we gain a lot of muscle, we go into a "cutting" phase. Cutting is the efort of trying to lose as much fat possible while losing little muscle mass. This two phase cycle is very popular here.
 
i would start lifting...and mabye not worry about bulking too much yet....see wat u can lift....since ur just gettin into it start with lighter weights at first then u can build up...then once u start gaining some muscle mass....u should eat a lot....but a lot of good foods.. just my prefrence....alright gl man :)
 
lol wow this stuff is hard work but i guess hard work pays off in the end =D

do you guys have ne idea how many pounds i should lift?
 
Don't worry about shoulders. You won't get totally broad shoulders by just working out. Broad shoulders come with age. If you're young, you won't get your mature shoulders until you're about 21 or 22.\

oh yea i forgot to tell you when we bulk we only eat healthy foods but we eat a lot of high calorie foods that are good for you and we eat very frequently.

anyway,

if you start lifting weights, dont care about how you look and start with a low weight where you can get around 10 reps done without great effort. When you first begin, it is smart to do total body workouts so that....i dont know but it is smart. Dont work only your upper body....squats and deadlifts actually create growth hormone so if you are not squatting or deadlifting you are hindering gains.

i want to know how interested you are in this and where you will be working out...i personally w/o at my house kuz i have equipment in my room.
 
honestly i really dont have all these fancy equipments so i dont really have acess =( if you can tell me what i need ill try to get them
 
you really don't need fancy equiptment for weightlifting. Freeweights are key. Start out by getting a pair of dumbells. Go to a fitness equiptment store. In the midwest here they have a store chain called 2nd wind And check out those stores for dumbells. Test them out so they are challenging. Your goal is 6-8 reps for 3 sets (for bulking). Find out the best weight for that and find a cheap bench. And start doing some chest pressing with them. Mabye there is someone in your family or you know who has weights you can use. Eventually add other equiptment like bars and some adjustable weights. you can find decent sets for relitively cheap. But you can do so many exercises with dumbells. The only catch is that different exercises require you to use different weight. Obviously you will use your big boys for pressing and less weight for say bicep curls. But you have to start somewhere.
 
i got my bench for 50 bux at target and its fine. its the cheapest one i could find. i got a 160lb weight set from sears with a barbell for 30bux(was on sale from 59$). I dont use dumbells often.

it has some good excercises that you can do until you get set up with a gym.

Just remember dude, you're only 14 you have a LONG way to go so train smart. Find workout's that are going to train your stabilizer muscles, (i.e. compound) You have a great frame to work from, and if you do it right you will be a MONSTER :mad: in no time. Also check out all the other threads as this is a great resource for noobs and pro's alike.

do i have what they call "man boobs"? stupid question i know... :eek:

and on the left and right of my belly button i have like wrinkles there wut are they?
