Here I am! Rock you like a Hurricane (hehe)

Hey Melissa... just wanted to say good luck today (you won't need it though) you're gonna kick some booty for sure!!!

I also wanted to ask... do you ever do interval training during workouts? This might help you push through those last few pounds. I was reading in a magazine... I think it was Shape... they had an article called something like "work out less, lose more weight" and it talked about how they did a study where they had a group of people doing intervals during their cardio workout (biking i think) and the other group maintaining throughout the entire work out... they found out that after 'X' amount of weeks that the group that was doing intervals lost 6 pounds while the group would maintained throughout their workout lost none.

Also... a trainer that I have worked with told me about how she got stuck at a certain weight for a while (she went from 192 to 122 pounds) so she started varying her calories a lot like one day she would have about 1,200 and the next 1,800 to keep the body guessing so it doesn't get used to what you are consuming.. that triggered her weight loss again.

Hope I could help a little bit... even if you don't lose the weight, you are at a great spot and have become so healthy which is the most important thing...

keep it up! Can't wait to see how you did today :)

Good Morning everyone! I had quite an eventful weekend so I wanted to share it with you.
Lets start with Saturday.
I had a 5K race scheduled for 9:00am. All race proceeds were going toward the local soup kitchens, homeless shelters, etc. I was nervous about this the night before because it was POURING outside.. .and very cold. It was forcast to rain the whole next day. When I woke up that morning it was overcast and sprinkling… but no rain. When I got outside, I realized it was warm and no longer raining… fabulous!!!!
When I got to the event I was shocked with how many people there were there….. so far I had done fairly small 5K runs and this one had over 650 people there running!
My time for that race was 25:46… which was not my fastest time, but the course I found out afterwards was a little longer than 3.2 miles so that may have played a part. The coolest thing though was that I actually won 1st place prize in my age group! ( 20-29 year olds)… I got a trophy!!! It was nuts… I had no idea I have placed in my age group. I think overall I may have been a little ahead of the middle of the pack… and nowhere near the top 3 females overall… but heck… I won my age group!!!

Sunday
I decided last minute to join the Sunday 5k. My friend who normally competes with my was sitting out Saturday due to getting over being sick… but wanted to run Sunday so I thought… oh what the hell!
I was feeling a bit lazy that day…. The race wasn’t until 2:00pm. There were 106 runners total in this race. It was a newer one and only the 2nd year for it. There was one girl there that ive seen at all my other races and I just had the goal to improve my time… and beat her. That’s all I cared about haha.
I crossed the finish line at a new PR of 24:48 and stayed ahead of that girl by about a minute. I also came in 2nd place OVERALL girls and 1st place 20-29 year olds!!! I received $50.00 cash as a prize

What a great weekend. Such an accomplishment for me… I am so stoked about it even still…… it was so exciting. I never ever have had a hobby my whole life… or anything that I do FOR ME. And ive found it…. Its such an exciting time for me.

So maybe my weight is staying where its at for now… but DANG IT I WON SOMETHING!!!!!!
some pics below... and ill add some in a seperate post since i have a limit on what is allowed hehe

Wow, she's hawt, athletic, and she has a winning personality to boot.

Dammit, she's just about perfect.

Hi sweetie!

Hello Everyone!

Things are going well here in my part of town. I am weighing in this week at 125.0 even... this is a good sign... lowest so far this month so that is good. Been upping the protein a good bit and cutting back the snacks in calories a bit so that i can hit about 1200 calories consumed each day give or take 100.

Been hitting the gym hard as well and then my runs obviously are great for cardio. Last night i did the cybex machine at the gym for 45 solid minutes. I ranged from resistence 30 with incline of 7 to a resistence of 50 and incline of 9 I burned 570 calories in that time frame ( according to the machine) Then it was arm day so i used free weights, pull ups, etc.

Abs also were yesterday so i combined 2 sets of 6 inches held for a minute each time, and then plank and side planks. felt gooood.

one thing ive also kicked up a notch is my water intake. i remember i was killin it with water back a few months ago and i may have scaled down a bit since then so i decided to get a large smart water bottle of 33.8 fluid ounces and just keep that filled every time i empty it get more water and drink it through out the day here at my desk.

This means lots of peeing thou:ack2: lol

also... a little bit of news:

I am signed up spur of the moment for......

A 10K this weekend...... :hurray:

im mega nervous but i want to stretch myself and see how i do!!! :)

man this running and racing is addicting!!!! :)

10K - wow that's impressive! Can't wait to see how you do. Is it Saturday or Sunday? If it's Sunday I'm assuming you are not partying for Halloween. If it's Saturday then you will be able to indulge in some candy when you are done! :pumpkin:
Good idea about the water! Keep it up, you are doing so good!

Girl, I am so proud of you. Not just for winning TWICE but for what you have become. I remember a few months ago I told you one of the things you can do to stay motivated is to focus on things like PR in running, or whatever physical activity you choose to get into. I totally pictured you as the type that would really get into a sport and excell at it. I am happy to see that I was right. You are kicking ass and loving every mile! You are becoming a heck of an athlete and you can and will do so many more amazing things. Keep enjoying the challenges you set for yourself! Also, as always, you look fantastic. :)

hump day and some success to share!! :)

Hey guys! I have great news! I FINALLY…. FINALLY broke my freaking plateau!!!!! Its been 4 long ass months… but I am finally past that 4 lb barrier that I have been stuck between since July 1st! I saw 123 for the very first time last night and almost jumped for joy!!! :hurray: This is wonderful……

Last evening I didn’t go too hard… mainly because I had a terrible headache and I was concerned about pushing too hard… mainly due to people in the office now being diagnosed with the swine flu! I wasn’t sure if I was getting sick or not…:ack2:

But I still did a nice workout. I did 30 minutes on the cybex machine and burned 410 calories. Then I ran 1 mile on the treadmill and burned another 100 calories and some change. Abductor and adductor muscles were worked, and then I called it a night.

Subway for dinner yum yum while watching biggest loser and Flyers hockey game

Thank you for all of you for all of your continued support… you are all amazing and love each of you!!! <3:beating:
Melissa

OH!

and as you will now notice in my ticker.....

I am at officially 30 lbs lost since i started this weightloss journey back on February 1st!!!! :)
:jump:

That's awesome Melissa! high five!!:hurray: I knew you would be down for the last week of the challenge! Way to stick with it!:hurray:

Congrats!!!!! :) That is awesome for you! Way to stick with everything and not get discouraged by that plateau! 4 months is a long time to wait but you came through and now I have no doubt that you can meet your other goals :D You got this!!!!

Hey guys! Gotta make this quick because its a busy day! Heading off to grab some breakfast with friends and then running some errands. I have a 5K today at 1:00pm..... decided to drop back and do a 5K and save the 10 K for another time... not feeling like i have it in me today.
