I really don't know if you are craving more because of your weight lifting... I would ask Steve and see what he thinks....

OOO, a night in the hot tub with the BF... sounds so fun!! So romantical!!

Im still here no worries

Hello all... its been a few days since ive been on here so i thought i would pop in and update people on whats going on over here in my life.
The last two weeks i have been lifting with some guys at the gym. I have also put on 2 lbs the last two weeks. I am not sure if that is from all the lifting i have been doing.. OR... maybe its because i did have a rough few eating days. The eating issue seems to stem from me feeling pretty weak lately... and like i need sugar or something in my body... so i guess i have been having some snacking and food cravings more frequently. Havent figured out if its related to the lifting and new workout routine.

Yesterday i went to the doctor regarding my passing out last week, and my near fainting spells the last few days. They took 3 vials of blood from me, and i am scheduled to go for a 2hr glucose screening and wear a heart monitor for 24 hours. I think that will be later this week. The doctor said in the meantime to up my protein, lower the carbs even more, and increase some salt intake also. She is leaning toward me maybe being hypoglycemic... but again... she is not sure.

SOOO... that being said.... derrick i did go to the doctor because between you and my boyfriend i was being stressed the hell out thinking WHAT IF haha... so that is all the update i have as of right now!

Last night i headed to the gym. We worked Back, Biceps, and Abs. I also ran two miles and made awesome time!!! trying to speed those miles up here lately!

Here is my food intake for yesterday! 8/3

1 pkg plain oatmeal w/ little brown sugar
cup of fruit salad ( homemade) blackberries, strawberries, melon, grapes, kiwi

1/2 chicken kabob

Dessert- large slice Banana nutbread, hot tea w/ splenda
Tonight i plan to hit the gym pretty hard and then go home and watch more to love..... i have to say im pretty into it. It does annoy me though that the show pretty much promotes people to gorge themselves on food and be ok with being obese..... i guess the idea behind it was good... but it just seems SO WRONG.

anyways, that and dating in the dark are my new guilty pleasures shows!!
:leaving:

WOW!!! I'm so glad that you went to the doctor!!! :iagree:

...i think a lot of people don't realize how many of us are Hypoglycemic.

There is this book of this man...oh man ...who is he...?!?!...anyway he has you do a basic hypoglemic test on your left hand. HOLD UP YOUR LEFT HAND, LOOK at your INDEX finger and compare it to the height of the finger before the pinkie. Is the index taller than the other finger? If it is..then you show minor signs of Hypoglycemia..(mine is...but then again I can adjust my hand and its the same size...but really...without adjusting it IT IS...)

...we actually study a lot about Hypoglycemia in Hypnotherapy..because people don't realize that the level of blood sugar has a lot to do with conscious and subconscious reactions that alter our behavior, our mood, create fears and irrational phobias that can be controlled and altered and reprogrammed with the mere adjusting of hypoglemic behaviors. :bigear:

....regardless....It's great that you got checked out!!!...and regulating that somewhat is as simple as what you are doing by getting protein snacks in every so many hours. :D! Good for you!

...I have TONS OF FAINTING SPELLS in my life!....since I was about 11 years old...in the most random places....at school, at church a couple times, at the theatre waiting in the hall, at a Rave,....at my dad's, under high pressure overload moments.....MAN AT LEAST 10-12 times in my life!!...I understand ..they are scarry!...but I go to the doctor and I'm FINE!....I feel fine, and I have energy, so oh well,....I'm FINE! :D!..and I beleive it...so I AM! :Angel_anim: Power of Faith!....I actually did that with Cancer Cells too a couple years ago....I beleived I was fine..and within 3 months...my everyday belief turned into TRUTH! ....true story...haha!

...have a GREAT WORKOUT TONIGHT!!...and get you protein!...;)!!!...I'm gonna go have a protein shake as we talk about this.....:auto:

Hey girl! I am also glad you went to the doctor! I hope it's not anything too major! I think less carbs is good at any rate, only for giving your muscle back some glycogen. Your nutrition looks awesome and I know of that show you speak of.. More to Love.. I don't get it either! Honestly, I'm pretty sure, deep down, they are all very insecure about their weight.. I don't think potentially having health problems in the future from being overweight is a good thing...I think I will have to take a peek at it next week...

Last night I went to the gym a little late so I was not able to participate in the WHOLE weight lifting night…. It was back and forearms so I got in near the end and did like two exercises and then hit the cardio. We did 3 miles on the treadmill. I ran the first two in 18 minutes flat which is my personal best. Then we walked 3 minutes, and finished up the 3rd mile. In total it was 3 miles in 28.20…… taking into consideration I walked for 3 minutes of that. Not bad.

Food intake for 8/4
Breakfast
Jimmy deans lite turkey sauage, egg, cheese breakfast- 230 cal
Coffee w/ cream and splenda

Lunch
3 slices ham lunch meat (120cal), 1 slice light wheat bread (35 cal), light mayo (15 cal)
½ can greenbeans (20 cal)
Light string cheese (60cal)
Fresh fruit mixture

Snack 2pm- slice of banana nut bread w/ butter and coffee
Snack4pm- all bran crackers 120 cal
Dinner
2 eggs, 2 bacon strips, 2 pancakes ( no syrup, little bit of butter)

½ a coke zero

Blood work came back fine for the first round… no iron issues, no pregnancy, and waiting on the B12 reading. Now I need to go get my glucose tests and get the heart monitor tomorrow….

Lately been feeling kinda blah. Im sure its all in my head though… I am thinking with the two lb gain… and me just feeling sloppy lately… that might be why. Either way it sucks…. I need to stop being so lame and shitty.

you are smart and beautiful! don't talk yourself down like that. just having a moment. you'll get past and grace us all with your seemingly undying energy and such. so now worries! what's new homegirl. i'm going to relax this evening, as yesterday wore me out completely. talk to yous soon!

Hi M Marie,

I've read your last few diary entries and I wanted to share my thoughts with you.

First, I commend you for sticking to your goals and for having the courage to share your experiences with everyone. I admire your courage and determination.

Second, I wanted to respond to a couple of things your brought up in your last diary post.

You mentioned that you've gained a couple of pounds after you started weight lifting. I wanted to offer you some explanations as to why that is happening. When you strength train or lift weights, you build muscle, so if your scale weight goes up it probably means that you're gaining muscle. However, it could also mean that you're gaining fat (I'll explain that in a minute).

You mentioned that you lift with guys at the gym. The exercises they do are probably not appropriate for you. It sounds like they do isolation or body building exercises. Since you have fat loss goals, it's better that you do compound or full-body exercises. These are the best exercises because they use a variety of muscles at once which burn more calories and more fat! The kinds of exercise you do will have a direct impact on your fat loss goals. The wrong kind of exercise can actually make you gain fat.

I would be cautious of the scale. Scale weight measures more than just fat; it takes into account the water in your body, your stomach contents, the weight of your muscles etc. Often times when your scale weight goes down, it's not because you lost fat--it's because you lost muscle. I would pay attention to how you feel in your clothes instead.

You also mentioned that you feel weak and "blah." This is a sign that your body is over stressed and will therefore be resistant to exercise. Exercise is a form of stress on your body and this is only a good thing when your body is healthy and not overly stressed. Based on what you've provided about what you eat during the day and not knowing more about what else is going on in your life, your body is probably stressed because of the kinds of food you put in it as well as other things. Drinking coffee isn't going to help you--coffee is a stimulant which causes further stress on your body. You very well could be suffering from adrenal fatigue, which is a result of exhausted adrenal glands. Did your doctor test your adrenals by any chance? If this is the case, you may actually gain fat.

I agree with your doctor that you need to up your protein intake. You should eat protein with EVERY meal. Proteins are the building blocks of muscle and you need to build muscle to burn fat.

I hope I didn't overwhelm you with information! I saw your posts and I wanted to give you some tips so you're not pounding your head against the wall wondering why you have no energy and your weight is changing.

I wish well in achieving your weight loss goals!

Well those are some things to think about in that post above. I know you already know some of those things Melissa but its good to hear new things sometimes too. Before I read that post I was thinking that "perhaps" you need a "break." Time off is needed every now and then. You have really been going at it hard for a long time. If you continue to feel blah, maybe you should consider taking a couple weeks off. You know yourself best though. Maybe you just need a few days to wait and hear the results of all the tests. Once you have peace of mind you can get back to it. ;)

Heya Pretty Lady...

I really gotta figure out that aol ... ive just been busy, I need to recreate a new account cuz I cant remeber the one I created before and Ive been meaning to ask my oldest to help me figure out how to get it on the blackberry...

Im sorry abt your passing out episode and etc, good to hear abt the blood tests coming back good...Ive had to have the 24 hr heart monitor before as well, what a pain in the ass it was...

I took way back when had faint spells, well black outs...UGH they happenned behind the wheel...so the last one I had, had me running a 4 way stop and bouncing off a bus stop pole...then i went to doc, lost my license for a year and under went every test imaginable...Nothing was ever found with me, in the end chalked up to stress...BLAH

I wish you luck figuring thngs out...maybe your just lacking something or not eating enough...or or or, I dunno

Im gonna focus on trying to post more an being more supportive and Im gonna post my food and exercise daily in my diary...

Ive missed you!!!

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

I agree with Derrik, maybe you do need a break and your body is telling you to slow down...

i actually do not agree with about 85% of that post..... but some of the thought behind the post was correct.... at least regarding taking some time off because i may be stressing my body.... i appreciate the posters time and giving advice to me though... its always read and taken into consideration

i did take last night off and i am feeling ok this morning.

I forgot to mention earlier that I enjoy dating in the dark too, LOL...I thought it sounded so stupid till I watched it and now Im hooked.I loved Mondays show, I missed most of it but say the end when all the wmn wanted him and none of them came out to the balcony...poor dude, LOL

hiya mel! derrick brings up a good point.. have you had a week off? since you started? if not take one off NOW. you absolutely need to let your body do a full recovery every now and then. i took mine the second week of june and i have been going stronger and harder since. because the amount we workout, our body never fully recover. so that week will be a blessing for you. i would recommend one every 3 months. its like a full rest on your body to process ALL the hard work you have put and you start off on a new level of fitness. If you have taken time off, then disregard this post. you know i care and just want you to be happy and healthy!

Hiya, just checking in - I know I haven't been on the forum much lately.

I think Derrick and Clarence have a good point - maybe a break would be a good idea, help your body rest and repair, and recharge your batteries. It seems like a number of people who have done so have come back better and stronger for it.

Lame? You? Give me a break! You are amazing and radiant. Don't ever let yourself think otherwise.

I hope you are feeling better today! And I'm glad you decided to see a doctor about what was happening. better safe than sorry. I hope the testing and monitoring go well, and we find you are healthy as a horse!

Maybe she took our advice too literally? Typing is work too you know. So we will see her in about 5 more days. LOL
