HELP! noob gained 10+ pounds in less than a month

Well, before I couldn't really say my body is well toned. But I really don't have much troubles with it. I am so much happy for being able to eat as much as I can and not gain much weight. Before, I swim once a week and do my martial arts training 3 times a week.

But a month since I graduated from college, I started gaining weight. I never really noticed but the weighing scale and friends all say that I look somehow bloated :(

This belly is really staring to bother me, and I'm scared it won't be long before I won't be able to hide it anymore:eek:

I tried doubling my training but it seems that it produce the opposite result. My shoulder become broader and yes this belly is starting to swell. I'm starting to feel depressed now, it seems like no matter what I do I just can't get this body toned :(

How many calories are you consuming? What does your diet consist of?
Remember diet is the most important thing.

errr...how do I know that? The problem is how should I know if I'm overeating or not and that I'm not starving myself?

Well, Overeating could be a part of it. But we are asking what your diet consists of? If its pizza, fast food, and fried chicken i just think we found the answer! So what do you usually eat and how much of it?

you can't just double training and not eat enough to fuel it and vice versa...you need to find a balance that lets you train as much as much or as little as you want with as much food as you want that results in fat loss

lol , indeed ur a fitness n00b

-

diet is the sole importance of a fitness goal

if u cheat ur diet, ur might as well, not gonna get the dream body your aiming for.

working out more, requires more rest as well as the equal balance of caloric intake with a deficit of course *in ur case* ur trying to slim down.

you cannot starve yourself and think, oh i'm just gonna not eat anymore

huhuhuhuh, that is the painful truth. I read in some website that to lose weight you have to force an imbalance between your intake and the rate you burn your food so that you could consume your stored fats....well something like that. So I thought, I could eat as much as I want and just double or triple my training.

But apprently, things are not going as I expected :(

About my diet...errr...well I don't eat at fast foods that much. Maximum is twice a week. I think my diet is not that bad either. My grandmother is the one that plans the menu and she's very strict about healthy diet. There has always to be veggies in every meal (except breakfast).

Another question....my friends say you shouldn't sit right after eating since this could also enlarge your belly...is this true?

hmmm.....Breakfast from monday to fridays, I usually have 3-4 slices of bread and ham or any cold cuts. Weekends are special, so I usually have bacon and eggs for those days. For lunch, since I go to work, I always have meat (chicken or prok) accompanied by 2 cups of rice. For dinner it's usually fish and veggies. We only eat meat thrice a week.

Well, this is kinda vague but I hope it is able to give you a brief description of my diet.

Another question, I have always been drinking milk as long as I can remember. But now, I think it's partly to blame why I'm suddenly gaining weight. When is the best time to drink milk anyway? ^_^

thanks again

whole milk?

ewwww, do you see the fat in just 1 cup of that?

The bacon and if you are consuming the egg yolk with your eggs can also contribute to your weight gain.

eh...i heard that drinking a lot of 1% and skim milk can speed up your metabolism... i drink milk and eat some cereal right before bed...you just have to eat more smaller meals (7-8). Dont worry about the yolk in the egg...its negligable and it has vitamins anyway. The bacon might hurt you. Try going for canadian bacon. Eat more protein from natural foods. Try eating good fats like the fat from olive oil, peanut butter, peanuts, ovacadoes instead of other fats. The thing about sitting down right after you eat something is totally wrong. I alsways sit or lay down right after eating...i am flat. I am also not an ectomorph. I am an mesomorph.

There are something like 7g of fat in a yolk and 2g of that is saturated. If you eat 4 eggs thats 28g of fat which is an extra 252 calories...hardly negligible

yes but you are supposed to have 2 eggs max of 3x a week
thats how nutritionists recommend egg consumption
if you want egg protein, go to gnc or something and but the powder

and also olive oil has like 16 g fat per tbs but it also has good fats i eat olive oil every day
peaunut butter: 16 g fat/2 tbs but it is still good for you
avocadoes: around 10gfat/ 2 tbs ^ ^ ^ ^^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

uh...if you look on any health website i am sure they will have something on eggs kuz they have a lot of collestoral; eggs are supposed to be used in moderation at least for adults kuz of the collesterol(spelling???).

do u mean for the eggs or for the nutrition facts for the pnut butter and olive oil and stuff? i got the nutrition info from looking on the back of the label.

i'm saying because eggs have cholesterol you should avoid them. You were saying you should have 6 of them a week

oh...you think that you should avoid eggs completely??? im kind of confused sorry...eggs are good for you basically and you should not eat an excess of ANYTHING. i think 4 eggs a day is too much. 2 every other day is even pushing it. i am basically saying that eggs wont hurt you if you dont eat a load of them.

ok i see what you are saying. im saying just eat the whites of the eggs. they have most of the protein and none of the fat and cholesterol. If you follow that, then 4 a day is perfectly healthy
