Hangs head in shame....back again***Diary of Kaplooie***

I've been lazy about doing meal prep lately. I used to do it every week or 2 and make a big lasagna or enchiladas (or both) and have lunches for quite a while. Just grab one out and go. I should really try to do that again.
It's amazing how fast the fitbit encourages you to doing more moving around.

Ah the drink be a terrible curse (and long may it be so) My pal Dianne, got so mackerelled when she passed a big exam she fell in a ditch on the way home from the pub. It was like a comedy film; one minute she was there, the next gone. We were all looking around for her and suddenly, this thing emerged soaking wet and covered in mud and leaves. Happy days.

HAHAHA, thats funny Polly! I'm quitting the drink till Halloween but one special beer with a friend seems okay considering its sriracha flavored! Seems like it'd go good with some hot wings...or maybe some ice cream, lol.

Heya.
I have just read your first post and I love your sense of humour. I haven't got time right now but I will definitely go back and read your diary.

Katehunibun: you have to have a good opener, a hook to catch people and reel them in...and then you just get really boring after they are invested. Its a lot like marriage.

So, today was kind of a bust for productivity at work. One guy is sick, the other guy is so lame to work with alone so I left him to his own devices and ran errands and did paperwork. My office is on the back of some of our apartments that front a warehouse where our tool room and shop are. Its a huge warehouse with a big echo. One of the little girls that lives in the apartments got a Karaoke machine for her birthday recently and I had to listen to that awful song from frozen on repeat for HOURS today. I wanted to kill. I got called in for a security issue at 0600 so I just left early...I couldn't take it anymore. If that continues there will be a noise complaint. NOBODY should EVER under any circumstance buy a CHILD a machine that generates SO MUCH NOISE!!!!!! I just want a big glass of wine or whiskey after all that.

I'm going to take my dog for a long walk and look for some blueberry bushes to raid. Its nice out and I stopped by the DMV and got my car its new registration so I can drive it again to the good trails, all the trails in town suck and are full of too many people to have good blueberries and the dog is not as people and dog friendly as she should be for walking on the busy trails.

Note to self: Dr. Martin steel toed work boots...not good walking shoes. Didn't even consider changing shoes till we were at the trail head and now I regret that oversight deeply. Deeeeeeeply. The dog however...pretty indifferent. If she realized it cut our walk in half and that's the reason we didn't make it to the blueberry bushes (she knows how to eat berries off of bushes, its so funny) I'm sure she'd care.

Ah, karaoke kids... Didn´t not "let it go" was still a thing. Hope your feet aren´t too bad now that you´re out of those boots! Shame about the berries, poor dog... Our (ok, officially my sister´s) previous dog would eat anything she´d see us eat, which means all the fruit and veg in the garden had to be fenced in. She even tried climbing trees/high bushes to get at low-level bird nests.

I need to take a pick of my beats, peas, carrots and strawberries in my garden, they are in a planter three feet off the ground so Hazel can't graze.

KP- you are such a likeable character & very entertaining & funny. No wonder you have so many friends! Ouch! Walking in steel capped boots. Ouch. I can't wear them any more at all. What sort of a dog is Hazel?

She's a yellow Labrador retriever. And too smart for her own good, but luckily a huge fraidy-cat so she doesn't get into as much trouble as she wants to.

I made cold brew coffee last night! I'm just waiting for it to finish filtering right now so I can drink it. Made enough so I don't have to make coffee for the rest of the week, just pour out the concentrate, mix and go. I'm turning this once a week cooking into a way of life, lol!

I'm having shoe anxiety right now. Went for same walk yesterday with kiddo and dog, wore reasonable shoes. We walked all the way to the blueberries and picked some, ate some, and then walked back and my feet after I sat down in the truck to drive home were killing me again. Maybe it was just leftover from walking in bad shoes the day before. IDK, but it was a 3.5 mile walk so not even that strenuous.

First day of school for the kiddo this morning. I think we will have a good morning routine this year. I get up and go and unlock the offices and wake him up on my way out the door, he gets up and showers, I get home and yell at him to hurry up for about half an hour and then he's out the door and I've got the house to myself for an hour before I have to go to work...lol! He maybe have got an evening job babysitting my friends three year old for an hour three times a week while we work out. There is a pool with a cardio room overlooking it and if it flies with the pool management he will take the three year old swimming while the Mom and I do cardio for an hour Monday's, Wednesdays and Fridays. I love this plan because I love my friend and she is really desperate to get in shape because she's a newly single mom and ready to date. So ready to date. Lol! Not that she can't date in her current weight because she is gorgeous no matter what, but you all get it... I don't need to explain. Anyways, hoping my flex works on the elliptical because the treadmill feels like hamster wheel to me. I've read that people are getting about half the step count on ellipticals, so I might have to just log an activity on the dashboard instead of depending on the step counts.

So once a week cooking is working great for me! Except that my fickle kiddo always wants whatever we are not having for dinner. I ended up having to make him bacon pancakes for dinner last night and also made him blueberry pancakes for breakfast this morning at the same time with the fresh berries we had just picked. I had chicken breast mixed with a bit of bbq sauce and some cole slaw mix with ranch on it (NOT the cole slaw dressing...ew...shivers...). Ate that while watching Extreme Weight Loss. I love that show! I got so weepy during last nights episode.

Anyways, I'm rambling and I should be going to work...lol! Have a great day ya'll!!

Hi KP. It sounds like you are going to have a great routine. I hope it works out with the pool & your friend etc. That sounds perfect! It will probably take a few days for your feet to recover from the hike in the boots. What shoes did you wear this time? xoC

Ya, it will probably take a day or 2 for you feet to calm down, depending on how badly you hurt them and how much you do on them the next couple days.

See if you can elevate or ice your feet to keep the swelling down, if there is any current swelling. Apart from that, loving these posts

I agree with all of the above :) Only thing I can add: if your feet are already hurting make sure to wear proper socks to minimize pain and further damage and of course take care of any possible blisters before you go out again.

Heya.
I was breaking in some new hiking boots on Tuesday and the bottom of my feet were sore. The next morning they were fine but that evening I went for a run in trainers and half way thru they started to really hurt again.
I think it just takes a few days for them to heal.

^that is exactly how they were feeling, the bottoms were burning, lol!

Well, my work out companion ALREADY brought the flake. The first night we were supposed to go she decided she couldn't so I went for a long walk again with the dog. And then last night I asked her if she wanted to go and she didn't. So I didn't do anything last night which is fine because I'm struggling with an outbreak of a skin condition I've struggled with for years and its not pleasant.

I'm getting low on pre-made food!!! I hope my containers get here soon so I can spend the weekend filling my fridge with supplies. I have two thighs left and two breasts, just enough to get me through to Saturday night. So I can basically just go shopping and do my weekly cooking all on Sunday and be ready for another week.

J has been working all week this week, I saw him once yesterday when I dropped off a hot cup of coffee for him. Hopefully tonight we can get some snuggle time in. I know we haven't been dating very long but I miss him! And for the first time in a long time, I have NO weekend plans. I can just...be. Be lazy. ;)

"brought the flake" -that's a doozy! I have never heard of that expression. I think we call it piking. A week-end of just ....being ;) sounds like a nice plan :) xoxo Cate
