Half of Me:The Story of Fat Girl Slim

What do you mean by-

Do you mean you have not wanted to eat for a long time or that you do not think you will want to eat for a long time?

Could just be one of thise things.

I don't think I will want to eat for a long time. It is weird, I just don't have any interest yday and today...

Yesterday you were all hyped up with work. With the adreniline and all that going on it does not surprise me that you were not hungry.
you may still be coming down from that today.....

Maybe - from someone who used to eat her weight in food, it is a weird feeling.

See, I am still always hungry. I am just eating much better hence the calories are lower.
The portion size is slightly smaller but it is the quality that changed for me.

For the last year or so though has appitite been an issue?

Ok apparently this is one of those days where I am just going to run at the mouth until someone shuts me up...

Today was a cardio day for me and I woke up sore as all get out this morning and could not remember why.

Oh yeah. I abused myself at the gym yesterday...I tried suppline rows which were really tough and I worked in some of the new stuff my partner and I were working on. I felt great, just sore this morning. My legs were sore also, which I could not figure out and then I remembered. It was that damn stair machine. :)

This morning I had to push myself through some of the same walls I had to deal with on Wednesday. I have an image that I keep in my mind and when things get hard, I hold onto it with both hands and so far, it has been pulling me through. I 'ran' that elliptical in the mid 80s for most of the workout and spent a good amount of time in the low to mid 90s.

When I was done I went to that Godforesaken stair machine again. Less floors than yday but at least I did it.

This is so much fun I can't stand it :D
Ain't it grand pushing yourself to new limits.:D
Just don't overtrain...

Thanks Brian...I will keep an eye on it...ironic that a former fatty doesn't want to eat. There is no limit to God's sense of humor apparently...

Ok, I am trying something new today - a new form of accountability.

My ticker always just showed what my weight change was, but not my actual weight. The reason for this was because I was embarassed about how fat I let myself get.

Today, I decided that since I am NEVER going back to that weight, I do not need to hide from it any longer. I have to be accountable for what I did to myself. It is a fact of life, of my life, and to deny it is to deny a portion of myself because I am stronger and better for having gone through this.

That being said, I realized that I never answered 'the questions' that you should take a look at when starting your diary. I am going to answer them here, from how I used to be, rather than how I am. It should be interesting to see how I have changed.

What is your current height and weight?
5'4" 264

If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be?
150

At what weight would you like to be at four months from now?
I was happy just to lose something, currently, 4 months from now, I would like to be at 150.

Why do you want to lose weight?
I have been trying to kill myself for the past fifteen years because I have been too scared to actually live. No more.

Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event?
Nope, just regular ole life.

What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals?
Lack of support, lack of dicipline, lack of drive.

Why do you think that you now have a weight problem?
Have you seen by before pictures? Clearly there was a problem.

What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight?
I can't think of a single thing I did before that would help me lose weight. I had to change everything.

Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight?
I have lost 50 pounds twice, once with Weight Watchers and once on Atkins. As soon as I stopped either program the fat came back and it brought reinforcements, just in case I had the termerity to try to lose weight again.

Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back?
I never made it a permanent change. I liked the lose it fast gimmicks and never understood that you had to change everything for it to work. What can I say, I'm a slow learner...

What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work?
Nothing worked. I never wanted it enough.

Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time?
I'm willing to try anything, I just am so scatterbrained that I forget sometimes (ok, most of the time).

Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook?
I try to cook at home as much as possible now, basic stuff. I am a good cook but I am no gourmet...

How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go?
Wow, I used to eat out all the time, all the major chains knew my smiling face. Now I hardly eat out at all.

What are your three favorite foods?
This is hard...there are things I like that I don't eat very often, which are their own category, like creme brulee, cannolis and fudge. There are other things that I will get if I am out, such as nachos, quesadillas or anything in a cream sauce. Eating at home, I liked pasta, BBQ and anything chocolate.

What are your three favorite restaurants?
I was an equal-opportunity fatty - anything would do for me.

What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food?
Eat less, own up to what I eat and eat better.

If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different?
Everything :) I would be thin and slightly built. Just enough to be sexy.

Do you eat when you are not hungry?
Been there.

Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)?
Done that.

Do you hide your food or eat in secret?
Isn't this considered normal behavior??? Oh wait, it isn't. That's why you were fat silly. Actually, I used to purchase cans of cake frosting and eat them in secret.

Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed?
For that an every other emotion on the spectrum.

Do you eat as a reward?
Yep. Another contributing factor to the fatness.

Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer?
Again, habits that do not exactly inspire weight-loss.

What do you normally eat for a meal?
Tons. I would have a meal before a meal if I could get to it. I am appaled by the volume of food that I used to consume. I have no idea how I wasn't heavier than I was.

What type of snacks do you eat?
I didn't snack in the normal sense but I would do what I call grazing...I would park myself in front of the fride and 'sample' from whatever was in there. At the end of one of those sessions I couldn't tell you 1/3 of what I ate.

In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing?
Before this, I did nothing. My exercise consisten of getting up and going to the fridge.

Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home?
I currently work out at my township community center, it is a gym/fitness facility - totally awesome and only $35/month.

What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise?
I like anything that makes me feel stronger than I did before.

What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals?
Just knowing how I will look at the end of this (not that there is an end but you get the idea) drives me.

Do you have rewards for certain goals?
I think I am getting a tattoo when I get to my goal...now if I could just figure out what that is.

Well, that was FUN. I can see that I have come such a long way, which is great to see...moving forward, that's what it is all about (just ask Toyota :))

Personally I do not think I can ever know enough people in the legal field....

Trying to cover as many states in the Union that I can...

You just never know.

That works well for those pesky crimes where you end up crossing state lines...

Ali, you freakin rock! The weight you have lost in so incredible. You awe me the way you have done it. I might of done it quick but you have proved that you are in it to win. You are in it for life. Very well done.

I awe you? That is just shocking to me - I have taken forever to get to where I am :) Coming from you, that means a lot, believe me.

So Friday night was my girls night out...I had an amazing time :)

Will post on it later.

Nope, trouble and I go hand in hand :D It is the only way to live, IMO.

I know it is a good thing, I am just still getting used to the idea of it all. So many wonderful things have happened to me lately I am starting to feel as if I am living in a dream or something :)
