Half of Me:The Story of Fat Girl Slim

I know it is a good thing, I am just still getting used to the idea of it all. So many wonderful things have happened to me lately I am starting to feel as if I am living in a dream or something :)

Good things? oooh, do tell, do tell!

As an aside, I was wondering about your arms. My arms look like yours did in your before pics. How do they look now and what did you do during your loss to get them where they are now?

I started doing weight training in october, mostly upper body work, but I am getting more into the core moves to work on my midsection.

You can see my arms in a post from last week in my before/after thread here, that will give you a decent idea of what they look like.

Short answer - weights, baby, weights :)

YAY! That gives me hope. I've had horrible visions of "wings."

You are your own worst critic. They look pretty good to me.

Well, I have been but not as consistently as I should. I have a wedding in three months - I need to get busy!

I am...ask around :) Thanks though - start small, think that anything you do is an improvement!

in reality I think I got out of the worst for my arms and legs. Legs look completely normal and my arms are pretty good but I fear for my stomach. I think this is why they started making everyone on the Biggest Loser start wearing shirts at the end.

That may very well be true, it is something you won't know for a while yet - all looked good to me :D I saw the pics...

As for my stomach...well, that has been oft discussed, I will have to see but it isn't looking good.

I know someone that lost a little over 200 lbs. in ONE YEAR. AND, he only did cardio - no toning at all. His stomach was the largest part of him. When all was said and done - yes he DID have loose skin there but honestly it was not near as bad as I would have thought it would be. AND, I saw another post on here from someone that was at or near goal, and she said that her skin began shrinking back after a while and after six months her skin was not as loose as it was in the beginning. AND she also stated that somewhere there is a recommendation that you wait 2 years after substantial weight loss to have removal surgery because your skin will continue to shrink during that time.

AND I'm done. :D

I am going to wait and see. I am open to the surgery if that is what is needed. If not, good for me.

Removal surgery freaks me. I scare very badly, not just the typical badly either. My scares are AWEFUL so bad that they stretch and get puckered. So If I an avoid cutting then great.

I guess I scar averagely (is that even a word?) I mean I have scars on my arms, legs, etc from life and my C-section scar but if I stay looking like I am, it may be necessary...I will wait and see how it comes out.

Maybe I will get lucky.

When I was pregnant with my first child it looked like Freddy Krueger got hold of me. I was terrified at how hideous it was! Thankfully it faded well over time.

My stretch marks aren't great, but they aren't terrible, either. It is what happened to my stomach after the baby came out that looks so bad - like a deflated balloon.

I think a lot of people can relate to saggy skin and stretch marks. I have a few stretch marks on my sides, and my arms... Nothing too noticable or awful but, they are there for good. My friend who just had the gastric bypass is already talking about cosmetic surgery and wanting to get it within a year or so... I want to tell her that she should probably hit her goal weight and maintain it for at least a year or two before looking into that. She is only 25 and I think with her youth on her side, her skin could do a lot if she just gave it a little bit of time, and probably some good weight training :)

I think you look great Ali! Congrats on the loss (I do pay attention to people's tickers sometimes :)
