Hajni's Diary: I will do it because I can

Hey Hajni where you been for the last couple of days?

HI, thanks for checking on me. I have been mia, busy with work but most importantly I am not doing well in the weight-loss department. I am not doing horrible per say, pretty much just stuck. I am in between 147 and 144. For instance, today I am 146.8, while last Thursday I was 144.4. It is the same 2-3 lbs moving either way. I am not upset about it just a little disappointed. I think my body needs some time (could be months) to adjust to this new weight, feel comfortable where I am and then I can maybe try to lose some more. For the longest time I was around 166 which I had no trouble maintaining and it might take some time to adjust to the new weight.
I still go to the gym as planned about 4-5 times a week and try to watch what I eat. I am struggling with the food though. Some days I am really good other days I end up stuffing my face silly.
I am still on the look-out for lower cal recipes and food items and just recently discovered the hungry girl website which gave me plenty of good ideas. I am treating this as a life-style change and not going back to my old ways of eating, so in a long run I am sure i will lose some more weight but I think for now I am just going to maintain.

OMG haj! I have always maintained we are leading parallel lives. I just got done posting (after not posting for a few days, like you) about how I have been feeling blah, and lacking motivation. I'm not doing "bad" but I'm certainly not moving forward. . I keep gaining and losing the same 3 pounds, and I'm frustrated and so desperately want to get back on track!

Maybe there is some way we can motivate each other? I'll do "this" if you do "that" kinda thing? I need to stop talking the talk . . and WALK THE WALK!

I feel ya Haj! Ever since Sat. my weight has been up. :( I haven't been doing anything to keep it there - and now I think that seeing 167 was just a fluke!

hey haj.. nice to see you made it back to forumland.. haha i finally made it back too. although not sure how long... i kinda lack motivation and time to really workout lately with school in full swing.. haha anyways.. hope we can kick this weightloss back into gear and get down to our goals in no time.

Hey Lady!

Where you been? Hope everyone is ok and you are just a busy girl.

I "started" over today- recommitted as I am miserable with my choices lately to eat the wrong things, too much of them, and become a lazy arse.
You last post indicated you were feeling disapointed with yourself.
We all have our up's and down's. Let's turn that down feeling into a
down # on the scale instead!

If you need or are looking for a buddy - look no further .. I'm your chick!!

Hope to see ya check in soon!

HI All,

Sorry i haven't been around much. Same old story....up and down with the lbs, one day i over-eat, the next day I feel so silly doing so...
The positive thing is that I have been going to the gym religously and making it about 4-5 times a week. The negative things is that I follow my 1500 cals for a couple of days then I fall off the wagon for the next couple and seriously over-eat, undoing all the good i have done previously. My weight fluctuates anywhere between 148-145 now. So pretty much I am maintaining but I am not sure this is the healthiest way of maintainance.
Yarmiah : i agree with our lives being parallel.. I re-started on Monday fresh as well.... and while I stuck to my calories so far (gee it was only two days yet..) I am still going up and up on the scale and right now it just messes with my motivation too much. i was 146.6 this morning, not even concerned with tomorrow's weigh in for the challenge.
So i am going to hop over to your diary and we will figure out something to keep each other on track!!!!

Heather: I know you found your motivation recently as well. I am counting on you to kick me in the rear end...!!!LOL

SweatPea: I am going to look in your diary as well. I hope your 167 was not a fluke, and the gain you were seeing was just extra water.

Official weigh in for the V-day challenge. 145.4, leaving me with a total of 1.6 lb loss for 6 weeks. Nowhere close to the 9 lbs I was shooting for.
Anyway attempt number 55 in re-focusing...
Made the gym last night, burning only 500 cals as I showelled snow for about 30 min in the morning as well.
Tonight is my boot-camp class and I will try to get there early to hop on the elliptical.
On the positive side: This is now day #4 where I stuck to my calorie goals!!! Yeah!!!
But the dreaded weekend is coming up again. I need to find activities keeping me out of the house that is the only way I won't over-eat.
Found two nice recipes for the butternut squash I have. One is a butternut squash-leek soup and the other is butternut squash bread pudding. I am making these for the weekend, both low in calories and I love the squash.
I will be keeping Thursdays as weigh-in days and asked the trainer in the gym to take measurements so I can compare to the ones before Christmas. I have the feeling the inches that came back are all residing around my middle. Sigh..

I can totally relate to the weekend issue. I always get invited out and it's hard to keep track of calories. :(

Have a great day!

A great (re)start if you ask ME!!!!!!!!

One day at a time . . start rebuilding dem great habits!

We can dewwww iiiitt!

Ok, a while back I promised I will start journaling my food again and I kind of slacked on that. I do keep track on my little spreadsheet, so I am going to start copying it again and hoping it will keep me from reaching for some additional calories. i am still keeping track of my protein well. For lack of space and some lazyness on my part, the calories are correct but the description of the food might be vague (for instance, I just wrote butter for this morning, but I had 1 tbs promise brand fat-free spread which is 5 cal/tbs)
so today's food is :
Breakfast: 1 ww bagel (150) (9) , butter, (5), 2 tbs jam (20) 1 c. vanilla light soymilk (60) (6) ,1 tbs choc. Syrup (10), 1 banana (110) 1 coffee (50) = 405
Snack: 1/2 c cottage cheese (80) (14) , 1 tbs wheat germ(25) (2), sweetener, 1 ff yogurt (60) (5) = 165
Lunch: 1 c. brown rice (170) (3), 2 c. steamed veggies (120), 1 Quorn chicken (80) (11) =370
Snack:
Slim fast meal bar (210) (19) =210
Dinner: 1 c. egg-beaters (120) (24), 1 tortilla (80) (8), ¼ c. ff cheese (45) (9), 1 kiwi (46) = 291

Total calories for the day : 1441
Exercise:
Will be updated as the day goes on.

Besides going to the gym now 4-5 times a week I also done some changes regarding the food I eat. I just recently switched from Skim milk to 8th Continent Light Vanilla soymilk. (60 cals/cup) For cooking I substitute regular milk with Unsweetened Almond milk (40 cal/cup) Discovered Fage Yogurt which I absolutely now love. Very high in protein, creamy and low in calories.
Also started using those salad dressing spritzers, so now I eat a lot more salads. I allow myself ice-cream, either skinny cow or breyer's double churned ff vanilla ice-cream (80cals/1/2 cup).
I stocked up on low calories foods and mix and match in my menu every day. Cottage cheese became an everyday staple, just can't beat the amount of protein in it. I eat a lot more tofu than I used to and reduced the amount of frozen dinners I eat. Try to eat at least 3 fruits per day and have some kind of a veggie with dinner and lunch. Not always make my goals, but I still try.

Ok, now that is enough. I am hoping to be back on track and post every day.

Ok, Dh said this morning that I looked good. Of course I had one of those tummy tuck tights on under my pants.. LOL. What's a little cheating between friends right?
Anyway, I went to the gym last night, had a great time, did about 10 min of body slide then 15 min of elliptical and my 30 min boot-camp. We measured as well. I have an extra inch around my waist and 0.75 inch on hips since last measurement. No surprise there.
Today is rest day for gym purposes but i will be cooking like crazy tonight. DH wants to have his baked Acorn squash and I am making two other dishes for myself for the weekend.
Here is my menu for the day:
Breakfast: 2 Golean Waffles (160) (8) , 2 tbs sf jam (20) 1/6 c. protein powder (55) (12.5) 1 c. soy milk (60) (6) choc syrup(10), 1 coffee (50) 4 tbs ff whip cream (20) = 375
Snack: 1/2 c cottage cheese (80) (14), 4 tbs ff whip cream (30)1 ff yogurt (60) (5)= 170
Lunch: Progresso vegetable barley (120) (4), 2 ww bread (80) (4), 2 slice fat free cheese (60) (10) , 1 veggie burger (70) (13) =330
Snack: 1 tbs better n. p. butter (50) (2), 1 tortilla (80) (8), 1 tbs jam (10) , 1 diet hc (25) (2)= 165
Dinner: 2 slices baked tofu (117) (17), salad (45), steamed veggies (120) , fruit shake: 1 c. juice (5), ¼ c. all whites (30) (6)1 c. frozen fruit (70), 1 ff vanilla yogurt (60) (5) = 447

Good morning girl friend!

Looks lke ya got a fine plan there. It always helps to have the support of your family.

Is that acorn squash with the cinnamon thing? If so, I need to find that recipe- I never did try it and it sounds so Yummy!

Have a great Friday!

Ooh I love the 8th Continent vanilla soy light! We need to get some tomorrow when we go shopping.

Just doing a quick hi as I have been out of the loop here lately and am playing catch-up.

Ok, I am a work in progress. I know I promised to keep my food diary here and fall short on that. Mostly because Saturday ended up being my binge day again. I was doing well all the way till 8.00pm and then everything went downhill from there. I did go to exercise on Sat but I had to skip Sun. as I was busy all day. Did better with food on Sun.
small steps I guess.

well it looks like both of us have trouble on the weekends. need to keep each other in check.. girl we have to work hard to hit our goals for the challenge that we are doing.. come on we can't give up yet.

heather

Just popping :lurk5: in on ya!
Keep up with your diary. I know that usually when I am back sliding it is due to not keeping accurate track of my cals. Doing "remember in the head thing"
And it is good to see you around more often.
Don't let the binge day get to you.
Your right about small steps.
One of my favortie quotes is this:

Even one drop of rain raises the level of the ocean. ~ Dinotopia
Keep your chin up.

Thanks Bella and Heather for visiting.

I was good calorie-wise yesterday, I am going to post my menu in a min.
Went to the gym to find out that my boot-camp class got cancelled. Instead of just leaving, I worked out like usual, burning the intended 600 cals anyway.

Yesterday (tuesday) was a pretty good day again calorie wise. No exercise, I just cooked after I got home and picked up the house (informal exercise)
My weight was exactly 1 lb up this morning from yesterday, but i am not going to sweat it, maybe I just had something salty I know i did not overeat.
