Hajni's Diary: I will do it because I can

HI SweatPea, Tammy, thanks for stopping by.

Tammy, I got one of those mp3 players too, I just call it and ipod,:) . Mine is a sandisk and it holds about the same amount of songs as yours. I believe Ipod is an mp3 player, and it is made by Apple. As to what songs I listen to, I won't be any help. I mostly listen to hungarian music, around the 80's, I am weird like that :) ...

I meant to respond to this earlier....

iPod is the devil!!! Hahaha. Congratulations on getting yourself anything but an iPod.
Here's why iPod is terrible:
1. Technically, its not an mp3 player. It plays a file format for which you need to use iTunes or a similar type program to ensure that the files are in the proper format. Why is this bad? Because the files aren't universal!
2. You can't get truly good audio quality through your iPod (unless you rig it to play mp3s... which can be done if you know what you're doing).
3. iPods will not play WMA files. Most people don't care, but there are some advantages to wma. For example, libraries are hopping all over the digital media formats for audio books/music that can be "checked out" and downloaded online. Because some of these require special programs (Media Overdrive for one), they're formatted into WMA files which then have a temporary listening time (usually about 1 month).

Now if you're one of those ipod loving people... Well... I'm glad you like your ipod. I just can't imagine why anyone would buy one unless they wanted more accessories than the music files they intend to listen to.

Cheers! :D

- Sunny

Thanks Sunny for clearing up my confusion about the ipod and mp3 players!! You told me a lot of info here I had no idea about!!! I have to admit I am technically challenged and wanted to go the simplest way possible with this. As long as it plays music I am good to go. Oh, why I did not like the ipods: the battery is not changeable by user and has to be hooked up to a comp. to recharge. So this made the decision for me!! LOL

thanks for posting in my diary, it looks like you are doing great, whatever you use, music while working out is good.

Hey Hajni, Hope things went good today as far as food and exercise. I really need to get me a ellipitcal or treadmill i am so bored with doing just ddr for cardio and haven't found anything else that i feel really gets my heart working out good besides dancing around to my music with alex but that's not what i consider exercise i just figure its fun since alex loves to listen to my music. anyways talk to you tomorrow and take care keep up the great work.

Thanks Heather

Yay Congrats on seeing 160!
Thats a really good choice for not buying an iPod. Lucky for me it turns out that my little mp3 player works off the same charger as my cellphone.

Still at 181... *grumble* I feel like I'm doing everything right... maybe I'll see a change by the end of the week.

Today was not great but good.

Thanks SweatPea and Sunny,
Sunny really hope by the end of the week you will see that scale tip down.. you really deserve it, you are working so hard!!!!

Today was good. I couldn't get my lazy butt out of bed this morning for the run. Then I had a moment of feeling burnt out and felt overwhelmed by this whole weight loss thing but talking with Heather helped me through, so I am back to "normal" LOL. As normal as I can be. :)
Food for the day:
Breakfast: : 2 waffles, 2 tbs sugar free jam, 2 tbs walnuts, 1 c fat free milk (340 cal)
Snack: 1.5 c. cantaloupe (80 cal)
Lunch: Lean Cuisine, lettuce, no dressing, 6 oz fat free plain yogurt. (370)
Snack: 2 rice cakes with 1.5 tbs peanut butter (200)
Dinner: 1.5 cup cooked pasta dish with whole wheat pasta, homemade tomato sauce, fat free cheese, 2 slices of melba toast, 1 tiny slice of garlic cheddar bread, 1 peach, 1 fruit bar (550?)

1540 cal. I think I went over my planned calories today.

Exercise
: I hurried to the gym after work so I would have time to work out some before boot camp. I did 43 min. on the elliptical, interval setting, level 6 burning 400 cal, then went right to boot camp, burning another 300 cal. So I did make my 700 cal burn today. Feel pretty good about that.
Still set on running tomorrow morning, we'll see about the will-power at 5.00 am. LOL

Hey hajni, Keep up the great work and you may actually make it to the 140's by your b-day. I'm glad that I could help you out of your feeling like things were overwhelming you. I know you have been working out a lot so you deserve a break every now and then. Keep up this up and you'll reach your goal before the halloween challenge even gets really started. Hope you had a great night and will talk to you tomorrow as i'll have a little bit more time tomorrow then i did today since i actually got my room rearranged like i had been saying i was going to do for the last 3 days.. hahah just realized i couldn't make excuses anymore and just did it. boy did i get a workout. moving a queen size bed a fully loaded chest and my dresser which had all my clothes in it was a lot of work. although couldn't tell you how many cals i burned today since i didn't really time myself on working inthe room.. lol anyways going to do a few weight exercises and then call it a night. talk to you tomorrow

finally, it is Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HI Heather,
Thanks again!! I am shooting for around 155 for my b.day, it is exactly 3 weeks from today. That would be an almost 6 lbs loss in 3 weeks we'll see. I don't know how long my body will cooperate to lose 1.8 lbs/week LOL.
I found the willpower needed to run this morning. The first 15 min was slow though, but I did the full 45 min. resulting in 3 mi. burning 350 cal.
I am planning on doing my turbo jam later today.
Tomorrow is the fair, we are taking DD to see the animals and will surely be walking around a lot. I will take my pedometer with me.
Here is to a good day!!

Do you run on the treadmill or do you run outside?

I run on the treadmill now. I used to run in a park near my house but gave that up for multiple reasons. It was always deserted and at 5.30 am it is still dark, gave me the chills.. then it had hills where i had to stop and walk and it annoyed me... then the fact that i was wasting about 10 min with driving to and back... and I found it hard... to run outside. I am not a real runner and I don't think this will become my life's passion... I do it because it produces relatively good results for the time spent.
Once I get to my goal weight and will be in maintainence (sp?), i think I will walk more and do more strengh exercises and work-out DVD's then running.

Howdy Haj,
wow you are doing awesome,I have an older treadmill
like 12-15 years old lol and my basement slants a lil and it kills
my hands to hold on I feel like I am going to fall, but I swear my hips
and upper legs are killing me when I am done so I know it's doing a good
job working my muscles .
Have you seen the stair climber by boflex they are so exspecive but suppose
to burn cals 2 x's faster than a stair climber or treadmill it is neat and you only need to use it for an 1/2 hour I can do that lol.Check it out.
Have a gr8 weekend Tammy

Either way, you're doing great.

Hey Hajni, its really all about will power and personal goals that we have to get to our goals. I know how hard it is to find the will power sometimes to workout let alone eat good. Keep up the great work and you'll make your goal of getting to 155 by your b-day. After talking to you I thought about it more and readjusted my goal for this month down from 10 down to 8 just so if i exceed my goal then great but if not then i'll just work harder next month to make sure i make it.

ok, I just blew it

Ok, I just blew it today. After being proud of training my DH not to bring home pizza.. guess what he did. Yep, brought home pizza. The yummy kind too. And I knew I was not going to be able to say no. And really, I tried HARD... Ended up eating 1 and 0.75 slice. Of course as soon as I done it I regret it. So now here I am feeling totally stupid...
Oh well, tomorrow is another day. Maybe I will exercise tonight after my DD goes to bed to try to off-set the damage. Will see.
MY food for the day:
Breakfast: 1 slice ww bread, 1/2 c. fat free cottage cheese, 1 tbs almonds, 1 c. fat free milk, 1 tbs wheat germ (285)
Snack: 2 kiwis (90)
Lunch: Lean Cuisine, 2 c. stemed broccoli (370)
Snack: 2 rice cakes, 1/2 c. fat free cottage cheese (180)
Dinner 1.75 slice of cheese pizza. BIG slices. (800 cal is probably too conservative and it is closer to 1000 cal)

1925 calories. OUCH. It is at least 400 above what it should be.

Exercise : 45 min run , resulting 3 miles, 350 calories burnt. And a definite more exercise tonight... and thinking I wanted to take a rest afternoon.... Oh well, my own fault anyway.
Ok, everybody have a great weekend, and tomorrow will be a better day for me!!!

Damage control done

Ok, I just came back from exercising. I had to get this overeating out of my system. This is how it starts with me. And then I can't get back on to the wagon for weeks..... I was not going to let that happen so I nipped in the butt.
35 min turbo jam. Then I hopped on the treadmill and I think it was Rimay who said she runs with a towel over the display and i did just that. I did not want to know speed or mileage or time or anything.
I just ran until I couldn't anymore. It came to 5 miles, in 1 hr 6 min. Altogether I burned 1100 calories.
I was over 200 cal with my food, 350 burnt in the morning, 1100 burnt now, came to a deficit of 1250 for today.
It is a bit more than I anticipated but I always wanted to find out my limit with running, so I guess I just did. 5 miles.
Ok, now I can go and have a good weekend!!

Turbo Jam must be fun, you're the 2nd person I've seen mention it in their workouts here. :)

I wouldn't worry about one day of over eating - you know it actually gives your metabolism a little shake-up - especially if you've been consistently keeping your cals in a certain range.

I know you aren't going to eat like that everyday, so you deserve 1 slice of mega pizza. :D

Have a great weekend!

Thanks SweatPea!! Yes, so far I like turbo jam it is one of the work-outs you can really grow with. I find myself being better every time, working harder everytime I do it. I do the 20 min. and it goes by like nothing, you are not watching the clock desperately. The more I learn the moves the more I burn it seems.
I just have to get some other work-outs as I don't want to get bored and then let it slide...
Hajni

Ok, so today was FAIR DAY

Ok, so we went to the fair. No exercise today besides walking around 5 hrs straight. And of course I forgot my pedometer, so I have no idea how many steps or miles we covered.
Anyway, I was pretty good, packed my lunch, but on the way home we hit my favorite ice-cream shop. I just have to make some adjustments today to stay within my calories.

Breakfast: 1 c. egg substitute, 2 slice ww bread, 2 tbs sugar free jam, 1 c. fat free milk, 15 blueberries, 1 small peach, coffee (455)
Snack: No snack
Lunch: : 1 protein bar, 1 apple, 1 small peach (305)
Snack: Here we go: HUGE milk shake but was done with seltzer water instead of milk. Vanilla ice cream. I was going to get fat-free yogurt shake, but of course the only two flavor they had was chocolate and coffee, and I don't like either of them. so 525 cal snack
Dinner: so far diet hot chocolate (10 cal) and I think I am going to stick to this and not eat anyting else.

I really have to focus myself, this is day #2 for cheating... It has to stop!!!!
Total Cal: 1290
Exercise: none, just the walk around the Fair.

Tomorrow is going to be good, staying home, cleaning and running around the house, I will be sticking to my food... (literally too, it is so hot in here today.... :) )
