Monday's food journal

ok, I am totally slacking here, just realized I had not copied in my food journal for yesterday. So here it is.
I started putting ff whip cream into my cottage cheese (it is pretty boring on its own), and wow I am loving it!!! It is totally like a dessert, especially if I put a little stevia too to make it sweat. Low calorie, high protein desert.. Beat that. LOL
Breakfast: 1 blueberry muffin (154), 2 tbs sgf jelly (20) 1 c ff milk (90),, ½ c. cottage cheese (70), 2 tbs ff whip cream (15) 1 coffee (50) =399
Snack: : 2 tbs hummus(50), 3 melba toast (60) = 110
Lunch: egg salad :2 hard boiled eggs (160), 1 tbs nayonnaise (10), mustard, salt, pepper, 2 ww bread (80), ½ mango (67) =317
Snack:
1 ff yogurt (60), 3/4 c. cereal (90)= 150
Dinner: English muffin pizza : 1 ww English muffin (100), ¼ c. shredded ff cheese (45), 2 tbs ff cottage cheese (26), 2 tbs tomato sauce (16), 2 c. steamed veggies (75)= 262
Dessert: 1 ww raspberry sherbet (120) = 120

Total calories for the day : 1358
Exercise.: morning : walking on treadmill 200 cal, bootcamp and elliptical (500) cal = 700 cal burn.

Of course you are an inspiration for those at the gym, and the gym wants to market you. I know what you mean about the effort some put out there, while others .. not so much. Any movement is better than none, but dont expect to see quick results if you are lolly gaggin, talking. For me, even at home- I like to be focused, with my Ipod, in the dark actually. I have the music to keep me moving, and the alone time to focus on me, my body and lots of things to think about.

Thanks Yarmiah. I am diagnosed with "hormonal imbalance". DH thought he could have told them that... LOL. We just have to wait and see...

I find myself thinking about all sorts of things while running on my treadmill, solutions for work problems come to me and mental notes about what to cook the next days and other things....

Yeah I kind of noticed the boringness of my menu so i am spicing it up. I just made a sausage, pepper onion dish, well it became a veggie dog dish as I had no veggie sausages. Huge portion and it came low in calories. That's for tomorrow's dinner.
I am trying to cook up more things and rely on the boxed stuff a little less. Most of the recipes I picked out are like 5-10 min stuff..
 
Tuesday

Boring. Work was ok, felt tired all day. I have to go to bed earlier. When I don't get enough sleep i feel like a truck ran over me.
So came home from work, picked up DD who is now getting sick, she has a fever. She is such a trooper.. I was laying down the floor next the her and she brought me her blanket :"here mommy, feel better". Meanwhile she is the one sick... :hug2:
Breakfast: 1 ww. bagel (150), 2 tbs ff cream cheese (30) 2 tbs sgf jelly (20), 1 c. ff milk (90), 1 coffee (50) = 340
Snack: 1 weight control oatmeal (160) = 160
Lunch: Progresso Minestrone soup (200) , 3 c. lettuce, tomatoes, radish, green peppers.. (50), 3 melba toast (60) = 310
Snack: toasted pita chips (110), 1 ff yogurt (60)= 170
Dinner: Tofu Paprikash : 7 oz lite tofu, ½ onion, ½ green pepper, 1 clove garlic, 3 oz ff plain yogurt, vegetarian bouillon , tomato paste ( 189), 1 ½ c. steamed spinach (60), 1 kiwi (46) = 295
Dessert: ½ mango (67), 2 tbs ff whip cream (15) = 82

Total calories for the day : 1361

Exercise.: morning walking on the treadmill (220), evening: 30 min run, 18 min turbo jam (400 cal ) = 620 cal burn total
 
Do you usually keep your cals so low? Or do you add something later? I know you limit yourself to 1500, but just wondering if you add a snack in later if you are still hungry.
 
Hey Hajni.. sorry about today I was on the dang phone for hours today.. I got a little break long enough to eat something then it was right back on the phone again with the colleges calling me.. haha anyways i am hoping by the end of this month to have a plan in place so i can start school as soon as possible. I could start as early as the 12th it just depends on financial aid and all that jazz.. haha we will see. anyways dh has his reading tomorrow and jag and then from there we will find out how long it will take. i can't wait for him to be home. just thinking about it makes me tingle.. lol anyways, keep up the great work and i can't wait to be able to relax and chat again. tomorrow's going to be busy with halloween and such. but i am going to try to get online in the morning when my mom has her doctors appt. ok well see you later

HI SweatPea, no I don't eat anything outside of my pre-planned menu so this is the final calorie amount for the day. I usually don't eat anything after 6.30 pm and is such a habit that even if I feel hungry, I opt to drink a hot cup of decaf tea. (has nothing to do with weight loss though. If I eat something close to bedtime I have nightmares. go figure that one.)

I try to keep my calories under 1400 now since my BMR also got lower with losing the last 20 lbs. I tried to up my calories but then I won't lose anything. I have a low BMR . I kept an excel spreadsheet with all the data, exercise and calories and etc.. and interestingly it is right on. My calculated loss (based on my calorie deficit I came up with)+ cals burned with exercise show exactly the same amount lost as my real weigh in. (not necessarily every week but for average for the last 2 months..)

I think Ediets was giving me calories to eat around 1350/day + 45 min cardio exercise.
I thought about increasing the calories but I will be super honest: I am scarred than my progress will either slow down or stop.
I am painfully organized and have my food figured out for the whole week... that way I just look at next days menu and throw it in my lunch box... and very rare that I would eat anything that is not on my menu.
 
Ok, I am used to seeing my weight go up and down, but here I am 148 this morning. What is going on?
So here my weight stats since Sat:
10/27 : 145.2
10/28: 146.2
10/29: 147
10/30: 147.4
10/31: 148
Clear going up pattern.. This is annoying me.
I have been struggling with bloating since this hormonal thing is going on but even for that it is a little much. I never had this much discrepancy between my calculated weight and my real weigh in (I am supposed to be 144.5 this morning...) I don't think TOM is really close but I can't be sure of that either. Oh, well I just keep doing what I am doing , can't hurt right?

Man you are smart - keeping track of your BMR on Excel!

I'm wondering if you are working out too much then? I mean with such low cals.? I'm not an expert though (of course, you know my follies!)

But I guess you will be able to figure it out with the attention to detail you pay to your weight loss efforts.

Do you plan your meals days in advance or just go by ediets suggestions?
 
Haj,did you eat a lot of salty things lately? Right before my period I usually crave salt and sugar.....maybe the salt is bloating you (?) No worries! Your caloric intake doesn't make a real gain thermodynamically possible!! And don't forget this little article, that comes up time and time again:

I am not subscribed to ediets anymore. I was for like the initial 3 months but since I didn't follow it to a T I did not lose anything... and got fed up .. I just pulled out all my sheets that I printed from there as far as menus and recipes goes and kind of went along the guidelines for like 2 months and when the weight did start coming off, I just made up my own food schedule. I have my menu planned for a whole week in advance.
I thought about cutting back on exercise and I am very inclined to do it. Last night I was only half-heartedly doing it, took me a lot longer to burn the amount of calories I intended to. So I might be working out too much... dunno.
I am a number fanatic and so far the numbers were on my side... I mean losing the amount I intended to lose... I know there is this thing going on with me with the hormones (dr said : just put up with it...) and it makes me bloated but really...
ha-ha, can you tell I am a control freak??? :ack2:

Yeah, I could be close to TOM I am just so messed up right now as far as my cycle goes that I have no idea what is going on..
You know I track my calories but I never paid attention to sugar, salt, fat or protein content of what I eat. Maybe i should look at that besides the calories and see if I consume too much salt, i very well could be.
 
Oh I know!! I don't track my carbs, fats, etc. because I assume f I'm eating healthy it's all gravy, but that may or may not be true--I DID have Reese's Peanut Butter cups yesterday! But yeah, I forget sometimes that sodium is really bad for us! Well, in excess. Anyway, hope your bloat goes down! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! :pumpkin:

I forgot to post this back in my diary lol but
I peaked at the scale and it looks like I am back at 178.5 so TOM is out the door until next month and I am pretty sure he was the blame for the almost 2 lb weight gain,your doing everything right so hang in there and check back later it should be down specially after TOM passes by I was PISSED when I saw 180 but it's back down geeeeeeesh the stress it puts on ya but then again the scale for me is a part of my motivation so I can't live without it either lol.Hope you have a HAPPY HALLOWEEN,Tammy :cheers2:

DH thinks something is wrong with the scale. At least he did not say some smart comment to piss me off.
Skipped exercise last night, I was comforting DD who is sick and was burning up with fever. I felt so sorry for her, she is so tiny. She is such a trooper with taking medicine though. I just hand it to her in that little plastic cup and she gulps it down like nothing. Was up half the night checking on her and the other half because she was up... So I am totally wiped out this morning, I am on my second dose of coffee ( I never drink more than one).
And I was super hungry yesterday, so I sneaked 1/2 protein bar in my menu.
And when I tried to post the whole site was down again.
So I ate close to 1500 calories yesterday and only did my morning walk/jog on the treadmill burning 200 cals. Still came out with a small negative... and still gained 0.6 lbs by this morning. I am totally lost. That is 3.5 lb gain since Sat. and I know all about my body's fluctuations... All I can think of is TOM getting closer.
I looked at my records, the last gain I had was 0.5 lbs back in the middle of June, since then it is either a loss or a no change week. I will be pretty mad if I have to record a stupid gain this week. :rant:
I do have to stop feeling sorry myself here, I did lose 28.8 lbs since May so I need to concentrate on the positive!!! One week won't make too much difference on the overall progress. So pity party is over...:hurray:
On the positive note: even that I have no more vacation days left, my boss gave me the day after Thanksgiving off!!! I was so happy... 4 days spent with my family.. And the business I am working for is closed between Dec. 24th-Dec 29th, so I am off the whole week!! (un-paid unfortunately). I am already making plans...
 
I hope your dd is feeling better.

It could be your new meds too? I don't know what you are taking, but since it's to help with a hormone imbalance - I can only imagine what it's doing to your system.

It's hard to know really - especially with us women!
