gwal's DIARY

Hey Jen,

Sorry I haven't stopped by in a while. Good for you for splurging on Mother's Day. I splurged too. I had 2 Black Russians - evil little drinks that can kick you in the ass when you least expect it.

Take care,
Jenn

Thanks for stopping by guys.

Still some glitches in the local cable internet, so haven't had the patience to stop by recently.

Jo- I, too, joined a gym. For now, I'm going to do some classes there. My husband has become my personal trainer at home, and we have committed to three weight lifting sessions per week. He is so knowledgeable in this respect, and with him there to spot me, I've really pushed myself.

ooooooh, Jenn, I love Black Russians (anything with Kahlua is heaven-sent!). Happy Belated mom's day to you too.

:rotflmao:

You're doing great!

Hi Jen!
Super on the weight loss!
Just imagine 8 lbs of hamburger or butter...gone forever!
Have a good weekend!
Cheryl

Sorry to hear your connection isn't the greatest but glad to hear you are losing weight! How sweet you got a really personal personal trainer. :)

I guess with the connection slow you have more time to move around & lose even more weight.

Oh my Gosh...thank you everyone for stopping in.

My connection is back on, so I'll be spending more time catching up.

I told everyone I've been lifting weights more, with my husband. He has been so helpful, and I know I'm doing well with my form, etc. My body already feels better.

I also joined a gym that just opened up here in town, mostly for the great classes they have (they offer more than 70 classes per week). I did a spinning class on Thursday and a body sculpt class this morning, which kicked my ass. I know I'll be sore tomorrow, but I loved it.

I hope everyone is well.

Jen

Wtg on joining the gym :) I was also thinking about taking a body sculpting class and pilates. How did you like that?

Its awesome you have a great supportive husband! I wish mine would workout with me :rotflmao: He prefers the couch and remote..

Hey jo-

I like pilates very much, but for me it's not much of a weight-loss tool. It's great for abdominal/core strength, which helps the back and the posture. When I'm done with a pilates session, my abs feel strong (and burn), but I haven't broken a huge sweat or anything. Body-sculpting, on the other hand, is hard-core-sweat-like-a-pig sorta working out. When I'm done with that class, my muscles quiver, I'm drenched with sweat, and I'm out of breath. You'll definitely get your calories burnt with that class.

My advice...try as many different types of classes as you can. You never know what you really might like til you try it. And, keep a variety, so that your body never gets too used to doing one thing all the time.

Well, that's my two cents.

Good luck.

I'm not doing classes, but I had a similar reaction to the pilates class I tried gwal. I think it can definitely play a role in helping us have bodies that feel good.

Well done on surviving the body sculpting. It's great that you're already feeling the benefits of all the extra thought/effort you're putting in to your exercise, too. I love the "very personal" trainer thought from MoonGoddess, and that your husband has the knowledge and communication it must take for his help to be a boost to your confidence.

Well, the results of body sculpting are painful. My ass and hamstrings are on fire. I'll definitely be popping some ibuprofen today. But, I do love the soreness associated with a good workout. It confirms the effectiveness of it all!

Absolutely! And in another day or so you'll just have that nice tight feeling without the pain. :D

Hey Jen! Just popping in to check out your diary for the first time  8 lbs so far? Good for you!!

I wish we had classes here...it's either a walk, or a video at home alone. LOL!!

Okay, still sore, but went to another class today anyway...did CardioKick today (lots of boxing/kicking). I liked it, but got bored towards the end. And I hated being next to a mirror. If I wanted to look at myself, why would I be making such an effort to change how I look? I still want to be invisible, Tom.

Diet:
coffee
egg white omelet with veggies
salad with low fat cheese
skim ricotta with splenda
chicken breast, salad, rice, corn

With all that intense training and the great food I hope you will start finding those mirrors less of a bother soon. Maybe not though - if I was near a mirror in an intense class it would make me think about the agonized look on my face - might not be a good thing no matter how trim the body is!

Anyhow it's good to know that you are still making it happen. :)

Well, I've had very good dietary discipline over the past 4-5 days. I'm a bit worried going into the holiday weekend that I might become a bit lax, but I'm trying to maintain control.

I love the new gym that I joined. I've only been a member for 10 days, so the thrill will probably wear out, but I have friends that go there as well, so we're trying to keep each other motivated. It's funny how when I do a class with a friend, I tend to bring it up a notch.

I did another body-sculpting class yesterday. I disagree a bit with the order in which the teacher works the muscle groups (I always do larger to smaller groups), but I know I got a good workout because I am sore today.

Everyone, have a good Memorial Day weekend.

Jen

Hi Gwal!

This is my first time stopping by so Hello! and great job on the 8lbs gone. I joined a gym about a month ago. I used to hate sweating, but it's amazing how much I love it now! Keep going with the positive attitude and this weekend will be fine. Hope you have fun!

Hi Ann-
Thanks for stopping by. I think loving exercise really takes time, but when you wake up wanting to work out, you end up getting so much more out of it. I'm glad you love it now too. I know the exercising has made such a difference...for example, I ate more than I should have this weekend, but didn't gain. I think I have my workouts and increased metabolism to credit for that. I'll be doing my bodysculpting class today. I know i'll be sore tomorrow. It's all good.
Jen
