gwal's DIARY

You are so right about things happening with time. Patience is probably the hardest thing with this process I reckon and especially at about the time/stage you are at right now.

It seems you really have all the ideas you need to do this though. I'm sure it's not just the improved appearance that appeals to you. You know this is the way to get the most out of your whole life.

It really is great to see that you keep on keeping on with your process. I am really looking forward to the time when you will post that you are at goal weight! :)

Back to say hi!

It's great to see that you broke through a kind of barrier number! I finally did, too. I've been on this since January, and it seems so slow, but it DOES happen. That feels so good, doesn't it?
I just imagine a pound of butter that is no longer attached to my tummy or thighs for each one that has come off!
:p
Keep on trucking!
Have a good week.
Cheryl

Hi Everyone-
Didn't have internet connection for a few days, but I'm back. I had a busy family weekend, indulged a bit at restaurants, but stayed faithful to the workout plan. I'm back on food plan today. I'm not weighing in for a good couple days due to heavy salt intake, etc.

I wore a great new (smaller) suit to work today, got noticed a bit. Feels good.

Hope all is well with everytone!

No internet for a few days and no venting!! Very cool. I doubt I could manage that! :)

The new suit and matching compliments sounds great!!

I've been feeling under the weather--therefore not eating what I should be. But, today, I feel better. Now the only problem is a big party weekend...so much tempting food and beverage...I'll try to control myself best as possible, but by Sunday, I'll really be back to program. For the party tomorrow, I'm wearing a new dress that I bought after having lost some weight. I'll let you all know if anyone notices (although my family can be oblivious).

Have a great weekend, all!

I am pretty sure they will notice. Wtg on fitting into a size 10 :) 2 dress sizes is quite an accomplishment..yeah!

Hope you have a great weekend :)
Jo

I'm glad you are feeling better in time for the party! Fitting into that new dress really counts!! :)

I hope the party is fun. I know it can be a bit of an issue, facing up to the party food but you will do well overall I'm sure.

Well, I did get lots of compliments on my dress, but no one seemed to notice the lost pounds...but what can I really expect, it's not like I've dropped 30lbs or something!

Anyway, ate way too much yesterday, and then the whole neighborhood came over for leftovers tonight, so we ate too much again tonight, but at least the food is now out of my house!

Tomorrow, I am going to restart my food diary...I'll try to get it onto here every day as well.

I'm also thinking of getting a personal trainer...anyone feel like that made a huge difference for them?

The dress compliments wouldn't have come if you couldn't have fitted into it and filled it nicely! :)

The party was at your house? So you probably worked all the extra calories off getting ready and cleaning up!

The food diary will be great. I haven't had a personal trainer. I've heard other people on here say it makes a lot of difference which exact trainer you get.

Have a great week anyway. :)

Why do you feel the need to hire a PT? I am not saying you are wrong. I have. Just curious.

Hope all is well. :)

Regarding the personal trainer thing, I feel like it would help me to have someone watching my form, and correcting what I do incorrectly. I also think that I could push my weights to higher limits if I had someone to spot me. My husband helps me when he can, but our schedules are often quite opposite. In a way, I feel like the money would be wasted as I have such a great gym set-up at home (free weights, bench, smith machine, roman chair, seated row, etc).

Actually, I just called the place that has personal trainers 24/7, but the number is disconnected...a sign, perhaps?

Why not hire one for a short period of time. If you are questioning your form, I think it would be a good idea, assuming you can find a good trainer. Good form goes a long way when it comes to injury prevention and making this a pain-free lifestyle.

I am doing some looking for a good trainer. Meanwhile, I'll continue my pursuits at home.

Yesterday was a good dietary day....

8am-egg white omelet with 1 oz cheese
11am-protein bar
2pm-salad with low fat chili
5pm-pasta with olive oil/asparagus/beans, salad
7pm-handful walnuts

Got all my water in.

Went to pilates.

Hope to do as well today!

food diary for today-

9am-egg white omelet
12 noon- handful pecans
2:30 pm- chicken breast with salad
4pm- cereal (bran flakes/oatmeal)
7:30pm- salad

all my water in for today.

workout- lifted (chest/back/legs)...focusing a bit more on the large muscle groups to really get my metabolism pumped up.

warmed up on the elliptical
barbell chest press, lying flat
DB chest flies, lying flat
seated cable row
reverse flies
prisoner squats with weighted vest
step ups (14 inch step)

I'm going to be sore tomorrow, for sure.

A good soreness I'm guessing after a good workout. Looks like you're 100% back in the groove again. :) This should be a nice week. :)

Too many days without checking in, but I've had a cold, been working, etc.

A happy belated Mother's Day to all the moms out there.

My workouts have been good. I've been upping the weights with the help of my husband as a spotter. I've let the cardio fall to the wayside a bit, but my goals for this week are 2 pilates classes, 3 weight-lifting sessions, 3 cardio sessions. I'll let you know how it goes.

I was good with diet until yesterday's splurge for Mother's Day (all the Dads in our family cook for the Moms, do all the cleanup, etc....How couldn't I indulge a bit?). Back on track today. Usually if I avoid carbs for a day or two, I'm able to lose the pound or two I might have gained from the indulgences.

That's great you're doing weight training, Gwal. It makes such a huge difference. And hey, moms NEED to splurge a bit on Mother's Day. No way you'll gain a pound from all that anyway; you probably didn't go over your food budget by more than a thousand calories or so.

Good to hear from you gwal and know that you are still keeping on track so well. (It's true a one day special day break doesn't count as long as it's over with like yours is.) Your food looks great and it makes sense that you are thinking about how to make the most of your workouts now. If you like your home gym, maybe a trainer could come there?

I hope you have a great week.

Hiya Jen. I hope you had a great mothers day! I see you are doing great! I signed up for the gym last friday, had a session with a personal trainer and i am very happy i did. He has taught me so many things i didnt know, how to understand your heart rate while working out, taking breaks in between, which exercises to do to get a full body workout and so on. Well it is Monday and i am still in a lot of pain. A good work out for sure. I am going to let my muscles regenerate before going back to the gym again. I still have problems walking up and down th stairs  lol

I agree with the post above, maybe try getting a trainer to show you how to use your equipment. I have found a great website to that has many many exercise routines. Take a look.

Hope you have a great day.
Jo
