Gothika's Diary

Thanks Hypo. I feel worst today than yesterday. I was only able to walk for 30 minutes. I felt drained the rest of the day.

Food today:
whole wheat toast , coffee, and banana

turkey sandwich, coke zero, and banana (I love bananas :D )

honey barbecue chicken sandwich and Fries :)( could not resist) Took my daughter to Friendlys and felt into temptation, but I skip the ice cream.

water...water.. and more water.

Goal for tomorrow 100 oz of water.

Just stopped by to see how you were doing. Looks like you are doing great. I would imagine it is hard to haul a 4 year old around in anything, but probably adds to you workout. Good Luck. Have a great weekend.

Thanks for stopping by Pineola. Have a great weekend yourself as well. yes it is much harder to haul a 4 year old. I can't do that everyday. My legs are to sore.

I just read your diary. My mom also has thyroid problems so I know how hard it can be. I also know that you can do this and we are here to support you! We've got your back!

You are doing so good.. Sorry to hear about the thyroids. My mother in law just founf out about hers and now is taking meds. She lost tons of weight from the meds and is now healthier than ever. Thank goodness.
And I see you have been doing your Billy blanks:D Wich ones do you have? i have the bootcamp set. Awesome workouts. *two thumbs up*.
Have a GREAT day and drink your WATER:p

Hey Jelly belly, I have the boot camp and tae bo live. The boot camp is too intense. I can't finish the whole video :( . I am able to do the advance live.

Does your mom have hypo or hyper thyroid? My sister had hyper, she gained so much weight and then had them burn. She went down to a size 4. I have hypothyroid, which is the opposite. The medication does not work for me. If there is a miracle drug out there let me know :D .

i just got thirsty reading your post. I am going to go get a bottle water. Only had 60 oz today. :( did not reach my goal.

6/29/06

Hello! I keep forgetting to post food intake daily. I am going to try to post more often. For the most part I have been doing good since the last time I post, except this past Saturday I had some friends over and I had some pasta :( . I am also having lots of water. Thanks for the reminder Jelly Belly88. :D

Food for today so far.

Breakfast: 2 whole wheat toast and coffee
Mid morning Snack: 3 small pieces of watermelon with FF cottage cheese.

For lunch today I am planning to have 1 slice of ham on a whole wheat toast, 1 banana and water.

Dinner: not sure, but probably salad.

Yep, we definitely need to be knowing about any miracle drug for hypothyroid! ;) I would take it in a heartbeat! I'm currently taking 2 meds for mine and I'm still not dropping the weight. :( Have you been counting your cals? It seems like your cals would be so low.

Hypo- No I have not been counting calories. Some people tell me ishuld and others say I should not get to hung up on counting calories. What do you think?

Hey, G!

I started out thinking I was not going to count calories, but then I did for a couple days because I thought all the on-line tools were cool. Well, I soon found out that I didn't really have a clue about what I was putting in my mouth. I then started counting. About 3-4 days of that and I had had it; however, I am a very all or nothing kind of person sometimes. Since I was counting all the calories, I started looking at the nutrient charts which I thought were really interesting and a really neat tool This required me to enter in a bunch of nutritional info off wrappers and crap like that because what I was eating was not already in their system. It really was taking up way too much time and I hated all the focus on the food.

My new approach is going to be to keep track of calories in a general sense and just keep track on a spreadsheet that someone here in the forum gave me just so I can see where I am at and I can make sure to lose weight every week (hopefully)!

I think we all have to find what works right for us. Smaller portions, cutting out sweets and fatty foods is the main thing right?

You can go on-line at the taco bell website and see how many calories are in that thingie that you ate today. Take care. I hope you are feeling more energy soon. Sorry for the ramble.

Hi Pineola, thanks for your post.
I agreed with you, counting calories is too time consuming and I feel like my day revolves around it. I do not count calories anymore, but I try to eat less portions and eat healthier. Once in a while I do eat something that is not halthy like that TB zesty bowl. I guess I would not be having that anymore for awhile. It is loaded with calories(700ish) , fat (37%), and carbs (46%). I feel fat thinking about it. Well, fatter. :D I guess it is better than having anything on the McDonalds menu. I think any of those value meals have over 1000 calories.

So what exercises do you do? Are you loosing any weight? I do tae bo, but this week I've been focusing on walking or jogging. I started doing some weights today. I think I push myself too much. I am really aching and my head hurts. My husbands told me I am going to feel so sore tomorrow morning. I think I found a workout buddy, my husband. Let's see how long he is willing to stick with me. He has been trying to loose weight as well, but gives up too easy.

I really don't think you should become obsessed with counting calories and all that. But I think maybe on at least a couple of your normal days, you should count the calories then so you have an idea of how many calories you are getting. With the thyroid problem, you don't want to go under 1200 unless a doctor tells you to cause it can slow your metabolism even more. But other than just to know an average of how many calories you are consuming, I think that just eating healthy and all is the best way to go since you are attempting to make this a lifestyle change and not just a diet. :D

That's great that your husband is going to exercise with you. I don't exercise enough. I have started back to gym. I usually do 30mins of cardio there and then I either work out my upper or lower body--depending on the day. I actually made it to the gym 4 times last week, but only did cardio most of the time as it has been very hot. I have one DVD that I do sometimes. It is really boring---It's called "Weight Training for Dummies" I bought it because I wanted to make sure my form was correct when I do free weights at the gym and I was too cheap to pay a trainer (I probably actually didn't want to be accountable to a trainer if I am being honest because the trainers at my gym are really cheap). I have also started walking a couple of miles a couple times a week, but like I said I really need to step it up.

I can sooo relate on the taco bell bowl. I ate lunch at a Mexican restaurant the other day. It was not a chain so I can't get the nutrients info, but I figured out the calories by est. ingredients and it put me over 4000 cals for the day! Ouch!

Good evening.

Today I started the day eating sensible and I also exercised, but slacked off by night fall. Every time I have dinners with friends I tend to eat too much or the wrong things.

food for today:

Bagel with egg and cheese, coffee
2 protein shakes with banana & strawberry
dinner- BBQ chiken ranch salad @ Cheesecake factory
Yes, I had some Cheesecake :( . it is impossible to go to the CheeseCake Factory and not have some. It has been exactly 3 weeks since I had any sweets.

I have to do better tomorrow.

You'll do better tomorrow :) Granted, you probably won't be going to the Cheesecake Factory tomorrow either ;)

Oh...and my all time favorite thing to order from there is their California Eggrolls
Deep Fried Avocado with Sun Dried Tomatoes and a sweet pesto type sauce...

Ohhhh...it's good!

:)

But I digress...

It sounds like you've got a good plan in place, I started out not wanting to count calories at all - I did not want to put so much attention and focus on food, however, it really helps me 'keep control' by knowing where I'm at in terms of how many calories I've had for the day. On days I don't count, I don't make as many healthy choices.

I was inputting at fitday.com, and to be honest, it was taking too much time. Now I just keep a pad of paper on the counter and jot things down and add up the totals. I don't want to spend a lot of time thinking about it, I just want a general idea.

Hope you have a good day tomorrow :)

I'm so glad there are no Cheesecake Factory restaurants near me. That sounds way to good. I've not had breakfast yet, but nothing I am going to eat sounds as good as that deep fried avocado thing M2M is talking about.

3 weeks without sweets is incredible (at least it would be for me). I think you are doing fine. Just watch the portion sizes etc.... Have a great day.

-3 lbs

I agreed with you Pineola, that egg role sounds good. I am glad I did not see that on the menu :p .

Today I did not workout; Sunday is my rest day. I woke up with my arms sore from lifting weights yesterday. Today completes 3 weeks of working out 6 days a week and drinking lots of water, I weighted this morning (lost 3 pounds) :D . Yeah! Finally! I hope I can keep it off. I have been slacking off on the food lately. I would like to loose 5 more pounds by July 22; I am going to a party. After the 4th I have to get back on track. Today I BBQ for friends, so I munch on different things. :D

Food for today:
wheat toast, scramble eggs, 1 slice of ham, coffee.
fruit salad
1 bagel & coffee
1 hot dog
some tortilla chips (lots count  )
fruit smoothie (fresh fruits home made)
1 burger

Goals for July
Loose 5 pounds by July 22 . Weight training at least 3 times a week.

Thanks HH. Now, if I can only keep it up.
