Going for it!

Rough day today - scale this morning 237.5 - this evening before run 240.5 - so any hopes of seeing 236 at weigh in tomorrow are slim to none. I think my body is in shock from all of the extra working out this weekend.

I also only got in about 80 oz of liquids so far today - will try and get another 10 or so within the hour to round out the day.

Tried to run 5k on the treadmill again today - my body was having none of it. I kept telling myself that it was mental. My legs were crampy - so I would walk a bit - then I'd run again and my heart rate would jump up quickly - then I decided to get to 2 miles and call it a day - at 1.9, I was feeling good so decided to try and make the 3.1 miles - I started running again and my pinky toe on my left foot started snagging on my sock and was really hurting. I called it a day with 35 min in - there is always Wednesday.

Up at 4:30 for my PT session.

Hubby commented on my work pants today - he thinks I'll be able to get by wearing them a few more times before they start to look funny.

:coolgleamA: what does a scale know??!! honeslty? ahahaha!!!
If your work pants/hubby noticing the difference - let it be good enough for now!

btw well done on the excercize and trying to get loads of water down!!!
wooohoooo:hurray:

:grouphug:

Thanks ladies - your encouragement does help.

Apparently my lack of a complete work out last night was not a fluke -- I was not in the mood for my training session today. I really disliked most of it - push ups (yuck) and backward lunges on an airex - foam piece, while holding 10 or 12 lb weights (double yuck!). The rest of the stuff was okay. I actually apologized to the trainer for being such a whiner today. I'm thinking TOM is right around the corner and making things a bit rough for me right now.

Official weigh in today - 238. It's funny - I was doing a couple exercises this morning where I thought, geez - my torso is thining out and those biceps and forearms are really getting toned - then went into the next exercise where the position was not flattering at all - and got to see just how many rolls I still have and how thick my upper arms are. lol

Enough of the poor me pity party - I'm off to go sign up for that 5k. There is no reason not to - so I'm just going to do it! Thanks to everyone that has told me to just do it - really made me think about it.

Jennifer - I'm just catching up on your diary - you are doing so AWESOME!!! Did you get all signed up for the 5K then? I'm thinking it might be fun to do one, but I have no idea how to go about finding one near me. I'm sure I'll have to drive up to and hour or so one way to get to the closest one. Just have to find one first!

Thats my test lately too - the work pant test :) I never took measurements so its a way for me to know Im making progress even if the scale isnt always showing it as much as Id like it to ;)

Keep it up! :D:D

Thanks guys! I'm amazed at how great the online support makes me feel! It means so much to get encouragement from you guys - going through the same type of process. I'm fretting like crazy about actually running most of it!

AriannaErin - thanks for popping in. I think I've given up on the scale. I've mentioned to my trainer that I don't care if I'm 240 and have the body I want - and I think my body is testing that theory....lol. I know it's not really possible - something has to give - as my clothes will eventually fall down on their own.

Had to get up at 4:20 this morning because the nice people on the East Coast decided to have a conference call from 9-12 ET - which means 6-9 am in my time zone! Got to the office at 5:45 am today (and didn't leave until 5:15 pm)! They scheduled another one from 6-9 am and another from 11 am - 2 pm tomorrow - so I'm going to be late for the first one as I don't get home from training until about 6:10 am - so I will be joining from home tomorrow - at least that is a plus - don't have to go to the office.

I was soooooo tired when I got home tonight, I was within a seat on the couch of not working out. Resisted the urge to sit and got dressed for my run. I ran/walked 5k - and finished 46:12 - slightly slower than Sat. I am happy that I did it.

I've had a pull in my back for a couple of weeks - so I scheduled a deep tissue massage on Friday evening. I'm hoping that will give me the motivation to keep up with my early morning rise for the week and run 5k before work.

That's really good well done!!!

I am in the uk and work with guys in the US, time zones suck!!! I am
a morning person so it really winds me up as I end up having to work late and do calls later etc. Ahh well such is life!

omg time zone differences!! i know it too well. i used to work in England & i have to schedule a meeting with Cincinnati (US) & Mumbai in India - it was not fun!!! As well as i have really good friend in the US - so i m used to constantly counting the time differences/hours LOL.

So proud of you that you pushed yourslf and did your run!!!!!
That massage sounds good and useful!!

Keep up the good job!!! :grouphug:

Had a few minutes between calls so I thought I would update on here now.

Weight training this morning was good. In addition to the usual stuff, she had me do side plank body lifts (not sure what to really call them) to work my sides - I won't quite call it failed miserably - but close. I threatened to add over 100 lbs to her and have her do it. hehe Then she had me get in a normal plank position and hold for 25 seconds - did it - but thought I was going to drop at any moment. She wants men to work on it and get up to a minute.

Tired now - will catch up on diaries later tonight.

My eating at home was less than stellar yesterday. Did not plan well for lunch - and by the time I thought about grabbing a 6 inch sub, I did not have enough time to get it before my next conference call.....so I ended up eating what was left in the pita chip bag - maybe slightly more than 2 servings - so around 300 cal.....did not have any yogurt or string cheese in the house (have that at work) - so what did I snack on? A chocolate zinger hubby had in the cupboard (only 1 and it was sooo not worth it).....and then dinner - who wants to cook - no one - so it was a chicken salad from a local chain (about 750 cal). That was not good enough, so had to wash it all down with a ice cream drumstick! Who am I and what did I do with the woman that has been doing so well with eating?

I was afraid to step on the scale this morning - but pleased to see 237 again.

Had lunch planned with friends today - restaurant selection changed at the last minute - and found myself ordering a grilled cheese with fries!!! Luckily my friend wanted a grilled cheese too - so we split it. Phew - no temptation to eat the whole thing. All things considered, I'll come in around 2,000 calories today - and I am ok with that. Back to good choices tomorrow.

My massage was wonderful - but not in a relaxing way. The pressure was so intense - but I did not want her to lighten up. I really wanted my muscles worked out. I was tighter than I thought. My shoulder blades are a little sore to the touch - but I feel soooo much better - and flexible too.

I was going to get up and run this morning - but then realized I would not have had a rest day this week - so I decided to rest.

I'll be at the gym with a friend tomorrow morning. Planning 30 min of cardio and then an hour of weights.

Hey Jennifer!

Talking about bad choices...me and the carrot cake yesterday!! lol - well i m pretty sure you worked it off afterwards!!!

Great that your massage was wonderful!! question on deep tissue massage - what is it good for? is it for muscles - or good for skin too? curious :)

Nice to have a gym body!!! it makes time pass faster!
hugs :grouphug:

Hey Justina - I was reading about your carrot cake! I'm lucky when it comes to that choice - it has to be just the right carrot cake and frosting for me - which generally means that I am making it (so less temptation - as it is not likely that I am going to bake a cake). I don't like all of the variations out there (not a fan of pineapple, raisins, etc added to it) and have yet to find a frosting better than mine (in my opinion).

As for the deep tissue massage - I honestly don't know much about it - my trainer recommended it to me due to the pull in my back. I didn't ask the massage therapist much about it - but she did mention that it is good for elongating and breaking down the muscles - getting the knots out. I can really tell a difference in my flexibility today. I'm going to try and get in once a month to see if it really helps me feel better - the pull is feeling slightly better - but i can still feel it - it may take a bit to get it fully worked out.

 I must be seriously grouchy due to TOM. I was kinda annoyed with my workout buddy today. I can't, my foot, it hurts, I need a break, etc. I think I may need to stick to working out by myself - as I can see it really bringing me down with what I am perceiving as a negative attitude.

I feel really good after my workout today - but was missing my leg workout - trainer recommended that I skip it today so I am fresh for the run tomorrow.

So excited - it is 10:30 am on Sat - workout out of the way and the rest of the day to do whatever I want.

ohhh Jennifer - my carrot cake was just perfect!!! i dont think i ever had such a yummy tasting one - i dont know what came over me....i just had to have it - LOL :) good thing i dont bake though - once a year maybe.
Thanks for explaining about the deep tissue massage - i m happy that it really worked for you!
Workout buddy...i used to be scared about going to class.. so i asked a super fit friend to accompany me - cheer me on...& she promised - but something always came up - so eventually i went on my own! & i havent looked back since!! i made some new acquantancies, which is nice.
Having said that - i really liked having friends with me (visitng) who came to work out with me!! :)
Hope you had a lovely Saturday! :grouphug:

A quick pop in - I finished the 5k this morning - with minimal walking - I think maybe 2 min of the whole thing. The timer as I was running up just clicked over 42 min - so I'm not sure what my exact time will be. We didn't have a chip - just a bar scan on the bib. I'm super happy with that time - considering it was outside and very hilly (the race ended uphill - and my heartrate was up in the 170's). Since starting the C25k, all of my running has been on a treadmill with no incline!

Thanks to all of you that encouraged me to sign up - it was a great experience!

Off to do nothing the rest of the day.

So excited - had to pop back on - race results are in - official time is.....

41:50.....very pleased to be under 42. woohoo!!!!
