Going for it!

Thanks guys - I'm glad this week is over. I have felt like such a whiner and complainer, etc. My workout this morning was awful (my day for that matter) - and I think it was all mental.

Out of sorts getting up 4:20 am on a Friday - did my workout with the trainer and about 40 min in, was just having a devil of a time - feeling dizzy, faint, like I just didn't have any gas left in the tank. She even commented that it is not like me - and I acknowledged that I knew I could do it - it's not like she asked me to climb Everest! Then arrived at work and started my day at 100 mph and it didn't stop.

Good points to the day:

Had 2 deer cross the road in front of me on the way to workout this morning (I am amazed everytime I see them - love it!)

Completed my workout

Met a friend for lunch - wonderful to take 45 min in the middle of the day for nice conversation

Had dinner with family tonight - bonus - they had pictures there from Sept. - I can definitely see the weight loss from then to now. Unofficially at 25 lbs down now.

Came home and checked email - and got the best laugh of the day. Photos from the 5k were emailed out (they want you to purchase them of course) - I totally love that I can laugh at myself and not be embarrassed like I thought I would be. Did not look at all of the photos - but 2 of them were as I neared the finish line - I looked like I was going to drop at any moment (kinda how I was feeling then too).

On another note - on our way to from the parking lot to the restaurant tonight there was a group of 20 something's (I referred to them as hoodlums - as they looked like they were up to no good) started whistling and cat calling. I ignored them - but thought it was strange as there was no other female in the area - then figured they were poking fun of me. DH made a comment after we entered the restaurant about it - of course in a positive light to me. I thought that was very sweet of him - but I still think they were poking fun.

Wow- 4:20a.m. - now that is dedication!! One thing I found out during my run is nobody cares what you look like when you are finished the run just that you finished it-lol. Good for you!! Besides now you have photographic proof that you finished.

It is funny- I felt tired like that all last week. Maybe it is the time of year- don't know what the weather is like there but it has GOT to be better than ours. Some days I don't want to get out of bed, never mind run.

I don't know how old you are but you know you are getting older when you refer to 20 somethings as hoodlums. I do that all the time-LMAO. Pretty soon I can see myself calling them young whippersnappers- like my Grandfather did.

I hope you get some energy this week- I hope I do too. Keep up the good work!!

Cowboy - I think you get my gold star for the week. I looked for every excuse in the book - and found it to just sit down and skip the workout tonight. After reading your post here - and making me laugh out loud, I am going to finish the reply and get my rear upstairs to run. THANK YOU!!!!!

You would scoff at me for even complaining about weather here - I live in Southern California and we are a cool 60 something degrees right now. I know boohoo for me. Give it a few months and I'll be complaining that it is in the 80's +.

So - I'm currently 38 - and yes, I feel old. Cracking up on the whippersnappers - I'm sure I'll be tossing that out soon.

Thanks, Jennifer. It has been a long time since I got a gold star. I wish we had your weather up here. Some days I wonder why I live here but I do so I have to make the best of it. I am glad I inspired you to run. Some days I don't want to run or exercise either- it is easier to sit on the couch. That is how I got fat in the first place -lol - I always remember that when those feelings get into my head. Besides I always feel great after I run.

38 is not old at all. You are just on the border of 'hoodlums'. I think I am on the border of 'whippersnappers' and ' little punks' -lol. I know some days I find myself making the same noise as my Grandfather when I am getting out of a chair- you know the one 'huuuuuunnnnn'- LMAO. Have a great Tuesday!

Justina - missed responding to your question about bedtime - I try to get to bed by 8:30 p.m. in hopes of falling asleep by 9:30.

Cowboy - you have me cracking up!

Well - finished my run last night, did some ab work, and practiced doing a plank (is that the proper way to write it?). I feel better for it.

Scale this morning - 234.5 - woohoo - heading in the right direction (as opposed to not moving or going the wrong way).

Workout bright and early this morning was terrific. Felt like my shoulders were going to fall off - I know - how is that even possible? and arm maybe - but shoulders? Feeling all better now.

Was going to try and get in a few minutes of jumping rope - but have a hair appt. So after my run tomorrow, I'm going jump rope after.

I do love to see someone running other than me-lol. Nice job on the weight loss!!

Are you doing full planks? I really want to get to doing full planks and full press ups! I am still doing them on my knees, albeit with my knees very far back (so kinda in between knees and full)!

I was thinking when i finally get the next half a stone off i might invest in a trainer and get them to focus on these two goals!!

I should point out i have really bad shoulders so this would be a massive achievement!

Charlie

P.s. i feel old whenever i resort to tutting at random teenagers in the street!

Charlie - If a full plank is without knees - yes, that is what I am doing (or attempting to). 30 seconds seems to be forever - I did a min over the weekend - but must have not been in proper form.

Is a press up the same as a push up? - if so, trainer has me do those - no knees on floor. I dislike them very much. It takes all I can to get to 15 (the first few are not bad) - and then I have to do 3 sets.

I need to figure out what is going on in my head - I have been looking for any excuse to not workout (although during the day, I look forward to getting home for my run). Well tonight I found an excuse - I had to clean out my car as I will be taking it to the shop for front and rear brakes, and a major service - and then new tires. I convinced myself that since it is an early bed night, I would have just enough time to do that and cook dinner. (popped on here while dinner is cooking).

I will be at the trainer in the morning and I WILL do some cardio tomorrow night!!!

Looks like you're doing really well with the exercise!! Congrats on finishing a 5k, that's so awesome!!

Well done on the weight-loss so far too.

With the getting up early in the morning thing- I've found it's not really motivation that gets me out of bed early in the morning... I just do it. I find if my alarm goes off and I don't instantly jump out of bed, I just won't get up. Don't think about it, just get up, go and do a workout... Even argue with yourself, if you're still feeling tired 10mins into the workout and you don't think you can do it, then you can go back to bed (I haven't felt like going back to bed yet!) Usually as soon as you start you feel even better on the days you DON'T feel motivated... you feel that much more accomplished having started :D

COME ON JENNIFER - GET YOUR BUTT OUT THERE AND GET MOVING. Okay now that the yelling is out of the way-LOL - everyone goes through periods where we don't want to exercise- believe me I have had more than my share of days. Did I cave in? NO-lol. I knew that I needed the exercise to get to where I want to be. I needed the exercise to reach my goal. I needed to stop all those excuses that popped up in my head on why I can't exercise - that was how I got fat in the first place! The hardest part about exercising is getting up off the couch. Once you are doing it or done it- don't you feel great?

Some days you really don't have time- I understand that. There were days that I literally didn't have time but I made up for the next day- believe me. You are doing a great job- keep fighting the fight!!

Aww your doing great and yes without knees is exactly what i meant! I am impressed (& i admit a tad jealous!) I reckon i could do 30 seconds.... if i hadnt just done loads of ab work - i am going to try tomorrow! haha at least your motivating me! :)

Charlie

Charlie - I had to laugh - it seems that whenever I do a plank with the trainer - it is always at the end of the work out - when I just have nothing left.

CB - thanks for the yell...I think I'm gonna take a page from your book and set another goal - I think I'm going to pick another 5k to do soon. Have to share - wasn't I just complaining about the yucky weather? Well - we hit into the 90's today - ugh....and we are supposed to really cool off by the weekend.

Luz - thanks for stopping by - the support I receive from everyone is wonderful - really keeps me going.

Workout this morning was awesome. I've decided kettlebell swings are my absolute favorite. April is going to be a tough month with spending (income and 1/2 property taxes due) - I think I'm going to sign up for a kettlebell class in May - I hear it is a fantastic workout. She also had me do a new tricep exercise - a one arm pull down with a rope (off of a machine) - boy was that challenging - and confirmed once again that my right side is stronger than my left. I found that during reps 12-15 of each set, my mind was telling my arm to push down - but I could not push - no matter how hard I tried - she ended up having to reduce the weight by 5 lbs (started at 30 lbs - not bad for 1 arm - I think). And she found a new way to torture me with an ab workout - I'm still amazed. Even though I don't note all my workout, I do work biceps, triceps, back, chest, legs, and abs every session (as I do weight training every other day).

Hi Jennifer,

90's in March- must be nice-lol!! Good for you for looking at setting a new goal. I am still not committed to the 1/2 marathon but I am leaning closer and closer to it. I have never tried the kettlebell workout but I hear great and agonizing things about it-lol. Nice job on the workout!! Keep it up!!

Stacy - good luck with kicking those lbs to the curb for good! We'll be here rooting you on.

Congrats on your first house - very exciting. And Yay for the 'Still counting after all these years'!

Thanks! ;)

Nice ta meet ya Jennifer.

It's awesome that your workouts are so tailored and organized!

~Happy Friday!~

:grouphug:

Hahaha ok I will try to do a full plank today at the end when I do my stomach work - god help me!!! Lol.

I still can't run the whole 5k on a treadmill, it is soooo annoying!! Good for you, signing up for a second will be great motivation!

Charlie x

So excited - we had 2 rebate cards come in the mail - I've been wanting to get a kettlebell of my own. I was telling hubby about a set 5-20 lbs for slightly more than the one I was going to get - he said I should get the set. So I did - we picked them up last night. My workout today....you guessed it....kettlebell.

I only used the 5lb one today - as I was trying a new workout and wanted to make sure I didn't over do it. I did 200 swings in 11 min (30 sec swing, 30 sec rest), then 3 sets with 15 reps each of - deadlifts, bicep curls, tricep dips (?), shoulder raises, back rows (?), oblique twists - then without the kettlebell - crunches for upper abs and kick outs for lower abs. Finished off with two 30 second planks (which I thought were going to kill me).

Getting ready to make stuffed veggie peppers for dinner tonight - new recipe - hope it is good....takes 4 hours (in the slow cooker). eek.

Cowboy - we are back in the high 60's, low 70's this weekend - talk about random weather.....

Nice job on the workout!! 200 swings in 11 minutes- that is crushing the workout!! I love stuffed peppers- they taste great and are usually low in fat- unless you stuff them with chocolate or something-LOL. Weather has improved a little- we are finally over 32F- should be about 40F today. There are people wearing shorts here already-LOL. Keep fighting the fight!!

Greetings - well, it hit the mid 80's today. Was going to go for a run outside, but when I got home, it felt quite a bit warmer - I happened to walk into the backyard and it felt really nice (face's EAST - so no sun in the afternoon). Decided today would be a good day to get in that jump rope session I've been bantering about.

Jumped/rested for 20 min - kicked my behind, but it felt good. I think I averaged alternating jumping/resting for 45 secs at a time (around 60-75 jumps). I found my feet getting sore - a strange pulling sensation in my arches - nothing serious. Also really felt it in my calves when I got going on a good stretch of jumps.

Would've loved to add in more kettlebell swings - but I want to run it by the trainer first to make sure it is ok for me to do those daily (using a lesser weight on my non lifting days).

Food - not fantastic - was planning steamed veggies for dinner - but hubby decided it was too late to make dinner - so I decided on cereal (the veggie bag is perfect for 2). No sooner do I get the milk on my cereal, hubby decides he wants a frozen pizza! That took longer to microwave than it was going to take to steam the veggies. ugh - oh well.

Oh - on the stuffed veggie peppers - never got a chance to try them - apparently I let the peppers sit too long in the fridge - they spoiled. darn....I'm planning to try again next Sunday.

Mid 80's?? We hit the mid 40's-LOL. Why do I live here, why? Sounds like you had a good workout- I have never tried jumping rope ( I am not coordinated enough) but I hear it is a heart pounder. Those darn frozen pizzas always push the steam veggies out of the microwave- I know what you are talking about-lol.

Had a fantastic workout this morning...trainer kicked my butt after I went in with a bad mood....as today is my weekly 'official' weigh in.....back up to 236.5....ugh. So she kicked my butt and according to my heartrate monitor I burned in excess of 600 calories in 50 min. She also seems to think it is my sodium intake that spiked it....and I did not get nearly enough liquids in my since Sunday. I can only hope.

Another uneventful dinner tonight - a repeat of last night - hubby had the other frozen pizza (they are individual size - 2 to a box) and I had cereal again. My calorie intake for the day should be less than 1,500.

Thursday is the last of my scheduled training sessions - she'll be doing weight, body fat, and measurements again.
