Going for it!

Hellloo Jennifer :)
Scale crisis - i know it could let you down - but to be honest with the training you are doing - i m pretty sure you are building muscles!!!!! which is good bc more muscles can burn more calories!!!
So fear nothing - you are on the right track!!!

btw it sounds so coool where you live!!! :D

Keep up the good job :grouphug:

Thanks Justina and Miss Charlie for the support. It really means alot. The scale will not get me down (ok, not for very long).

TMI warning - I don't think I pee'd so much as I did yesterday AND I had to get up 4 times last night. Scale dropped back down 2 1/2 lbs - but again - not counting it until my official weigh in day. I've had an almost repeat day at the ladies room today.

Was looking forward to my run tonight - thinking, I got this - 10/10 pish posh......it was tougher than the 20 min run....but I did it. I think it is just mentally challenging me when I have the break in between.

Can't wait to see what the trainer has in store for me tomorrow. It is so great when I show up and she asks how I felt after the last workout and can tell her that I felt great - no muscle pain. But I see her wheels turning and know that she is going to push me harder because I can take it. But..what the heck - that's what I'm paying for - right?

Hey you -you are doing good with the running!!
Hope you enjoyed the training!
Keep up the good job!
:grouphug:

Heya!! That's great!!

The scales seem to be all o er the place! Do u think there is something wrong with the scales?

Have a great Friday!

Charlie

Hi!!! Just read through your diary... You're doing great! I started off with the couch to 5k program last summer and got involved with races to keep me motivated. I am now able to run six miles! You'll be so happy as you watch yourself progress. I also think taking a break in the middle of a run makes it even harder. Definite mental hurdle to get yourself going again.

Good luck with everything!

Hey Laura - thanks for popping in. Appreciate the encouragement.

Charlie - lol - I do believe the scale accurate - with as much time as I've spent in the ladies room the past 3 days....I firmly believe I was hanging on to quite a bit of water.

Justina - thanks for the kind words.

Training today - awesome. I was exposed to a new tricep exercise that def. goes on my non-fav list. Everything else was fantastic. I love getting out of there at 6 am and getting to nap for approx 30 min after I get home. I get the most refreshed feeling after that.

I think I have to get up early to get my run in tomorrow - will have no time after work. I'm at the first 25 all the way through - eek.

Lol i am not happy with mine today!!!! I have been good, done lots of exercise, not gone over my calorie allowance and what do they say... I have lost no weight, my body fat % is up and apparently I am not holding extra water!!!!

Sometimes having scales that tell you all that information just does not seem like a great idea!!!! Hahaha.

Ooooh good luck for the 25 Hun!!!! That is next for me, on my slightly altered version!
will prob do it Sunday!

Charlie

Hey girl you are doing good!

i learned some new weight excercizes yestrday too in m class...i m still in pain!!! LOL - but its good - i know it s working!!

Good luck for the 25!
:grouphug:

Well - I awoke at 4:52 am today - liquids still causing me to get up during the night....did I follow up by getting dressed and heading a few feet down the hallway to the treadmill.....no - decided to lay in my cozy bed. I should have just done it - I would have felt better. Never did get back to sleep - laid there until the alarm went off 2 hours later!

Had a waxing appt. this afternoon - have not seen her in 6 weeks - she commented that I am getting skinny (in the 230's, I think not). It was nice to hear as she sees everything and unlike my hubby - not daily. My body is changing shape -and hubby even commented that he can see it in my face now.

Had dinner out again tonight - girlfriends b-day yesterday - so took her out. She picked the place....Mexican. No, I did not behave - although at the place she picked, the only way to behave is not to order food - no salads or grilled anything. Thank goodness my eating earlier in the day was spot on.

Even though I did not get my run in today, I am all set to do it first thing in the morning - and then one of my girlfriends is coming over and we are going to do some weight training together. I'm really excited about that. I want to make sure that I get in the habit of at least 3 days of weights a week.

I have a hike with another girlfriend on Sunday - so I think it is going to be a great weekend.

Oh - I am giving myself until Sunday afternoon to sign up for the 5k next Sunday - I just need to do it and quit fretting about it. We all have to start somewhere.

Awwww it is so nice that you are doing all these things with friends!!! Such nice motivation!!!

Sounds lIke you have a great weekend planned - have fun!!

Charlie

I had to pop on here before I forgot. I really really want to sign up for the 5k next weekend - but don't want to embarass myself. Why oh why do I feel this way? I shouldn't care what anyone else thinks. It's not the way I look as much as I want my time to be better than the walking group.

I was intending to do the 25 min run on the tread this morning. I ended up waking a bit earlier - hopped on and skipped the 5 min warmup and only did a 30 sec warm up - then into the running (4.5 mph) - I ended up running for 15 min and my heartrate was in the 90% zone, so I dropped down to a walk for 3 min - then ran another 10 min 30 seconds until my heartrate was above 90% again. At this point, I had the 25 min in - just not consecutively.....I still had some gusto in me so I decided to push to finish a 5k - ended up with 34 min running and the rest walking - total time 44:38. Not fantastic - but it shows that I can keep up with the 4 mph walkers out there (net time).

I love the way I feel after a good cardio session - my lungs feel so clear. It feels like my body is saying thank you from the inside.

10 min 'til my friend gets here - and it is an hour of weights. Will post later today so I can track what we did. btw - this is the same friend we had dinner with last night. Oh and might I add - I felt so yucky this morning after all that heavy greasy food in me. Thankfully I can pass on that particular restaurant for at least another year.

Do it Sign up Do it Sign up Think about only YOU & YOU can do it!!! :hurray: :hurray: :hurray:

Hope weight training is going well with you friend! :grouphug:

Had a good weight training session. For legs, I only had her do two sets of each exercise as I wanted to make sure she did not experience the pain I did a couple weeks ago. We got in a bit more than an hour - but that included me showing her variations of some exercises that she could do on her own during the week.

We got in bi/tri/shoulder/chest/legs and abs. I couldn't think of any good back exercises with the equipment I have - we'll have to wait until we meet at the gym for those. I did have a bit of fun with the abs - we exchanged 'evil bitch' a couple times. All in good fun tho.

Have a family get together later today - luckily my aunt that tries to be somewhat healthy is hosting, so I know she will have some healthy choices. I have been asked to bring one of my usual desserts - 7 layer cookies - I feel my heart stopping just typing this. At least I can say that I have no interest in eating anything sweet - other than perhaps some fruit today.

So - even if the scale is not showing progress, my body and mind are. I can't believe how good I feel after my workout today, that I actually want to make healthy choices by thinking ahead tonight - and that my body was disgusted by my dinner last night. That is the positive I am taking away for the week.

Oh - one more change - I was a regular soda junkie for a long time - cold turkey would only work for so long - so I decided this time to allow myself one or two a week. I had my soda yesterday and could not even finish it - how great is that? I'm not ruling out soda - but now I will wait for a craving - and have one - if it doesn't taste good, I don't have to drink it. Water and Iced Tea with Lemon are my new staples.

Now that I know I could do the 5k today, my goal will be to improve the time by trying to run the entire time and then gradually increase my speed.

Well done on training session!!
i think mind & body are way more important than the scale!! So good job!! You are doing great!
How did the family get together go? Hope you could make the right choices!! :)

Well done!!! That is great that you did the whole 5k - well done!!! I agree once you can do it you can always make it faster!!!

I have done several 5k's - part run, mostly walking. Honestly it just does not matter how fast you do it - all about taking part!

That sounds like a great workout!

Charlie

3+ hour hike this morning - awesome! According to my heart rate monitor, burned over 1,700 calories - woohoo.

Family get together was nice - we only stayed a couple of hours because I had to get up early for the hike today - and with the time change, we lost an hour. It was really nice to see my grandma and grandpa - they only visit once a year (they moved across the country many years ago) I was surprised at the food - not super healthy. My aunt was really busy so instead of making something she ordered chicken parmesean from an Italian restaurant. So breaded chicken was not the best - but another aunt and I split 1 piece. I had 1 piece of toasted ravioli, a bit of salad - and one of my uncles made homemade bbq chicken pizza on the bbq - I allowed myself two of the tiniest slivers. Dessert did not appeal to me so I was not tempted. Overall - I don't think the calorie damage was too bad.

Unofficial scale weight today said 236....let's see if it stays down until Tues.

My hamstrings are so tight from the deadlifts yesterday. I spoke to my friend and she is moving slowly today.

Don't be scared about signing up for a 5k! It's the perfect distance for new runners. You have such a mix of people participating that no matter what you'll have others in the same position as you... I've seen more than one race where people cheered on the walkers at the end.

3 hour hiking!!! wow - that is sooo cool! i wnna do hiking - once the sun is out properly - i so gonna go - we have some nice mountains around - so would be nice to organize something with some ppl.

Well done on choosing carefully at the get together!! i m so proud of you!
Grandparents are so sweet - it was nice to have mine around for a week!!

Keep up the good job lovely - and good luck on the weigh in on tuesday! :grouphug:
