Going for it!

WOW! You're just going full guns aren't you?

I think it would be great to have DH as a work out partner. My hubby's idea of doing that would be me working out with little to no clothes on while he watched! LOL!

You're doing great - keep up the awesome job!

Wow - time flies - I have had no time to post. So...DH and I did not make a date night at the gym...instead we went to REI (outdoorsy store) to pick up some emergency blankets (foil type) and a compass. We were planning a hike in Palm Springs last Sat. Of course DH just had to pick up a new knife - you know - I'll be happy when it saves us somehow. He has a new toy and is happy.

The hike....we took the tram up to the top and had planned on hiking through the snow. The trail was not well marked and hiking through 1+ feet of snow is quite a workout. I did not have waterproof pants on - so we turned back fairly quickly. It was a lovely day though.

Was a bit lazy until 5 am Tuesday - another great workout with the trainer - could definitely feel the burn in my arms - but not too bad.

Ran on Wed and decided I was tired of the 8/5/8 kicking my butt - so I reduced my speed to 4.5 (I know, not fast at all) - and I DID IT! It felt soooo great.

Another 5 am workout yesterday - have I mentioned how much I hate walking lunges? I knew it was only a matter of time...and sure enough, she had that on her agenda! Each rear cheek feels like I had a massive shot (thinking the feeling of a Tetnis (sp ?) shot) - once again - hurts to sit - but I don't mind. I started wearing my heart rate monitor again and have noticed that I am recovering faster after getting my heart rate up.

How is it that a trainer can find so many ways to torture me with ab workouts? When I was in high school we had the basic crunch - that was it. Whatever it takes to get my waistline back in line!

Not planning much of a workout this weekend - but def a run on Monday - hopefully a full 20 min @ 4.5.

Hmmmm..lady....you are telling me that i m doing well with excercize...Check YOU out!!! wow!! well done!
Keep it up!! & have fun at the same time! :hurray:

Spent the weekend in Big Bear - my exercise consisted of approx 20 minutes shoveling snow - actually enjoyed it - probably because I think I have only done it maybe once before.....not a regular thing. Was worried about the scale - but it was actually down from last week - although my official weigh in day is tomorrow morning....

Fully intended to run tonight (now for the excuses) - but left my wallet at home this morning, so I had to come home after work to grab it and headed back out to 2 stores (rather than just stopping on my way home) - that ate up the time I was going to run.

Up at 4:30 am tomorrow to head off to work with the trainer. I'm hoping for either kettlebell or leg press as part of the workout tomorrow.

Excuse accepted :)
You are going to have your training soon anyway! :) I still cant believe you wake up so early!!
Good luck for the weigh in!

thanks for the continued support Justina.

Well...got my wish today - worked with the kettlebell...but with the bosu too....darn it. Actually did a couple exercises with the bosu - then back, chest, arms, and abs. Really tough while doing it - but I don't seem to be feeling it tonight - hope tomorrow will be the same.

Scale officially at 237 - slow going but I'll take it. I am a bit disappointed though - I had hubby take progress pics - after 20 lbs, I can't see much of a change. Oh well - I'm sure I'll see something after the next 20.

I'm not really a morning person - but I can do it a couple days a week - and it will only be for a few more weeks. Then I'll do my weight training at night.

Hey lovely - dont be disappointed if it doesnt show. it is exactly how i felt though....& I promise you the next 20 WILL SHOW - at our height it s reaching that 220 mark that makes a big change!!! thats what i have found anyway.
Until then my friends didnt notice anything - once i hit that mark everything started to slot into place. including cloths falling off me! :)
(i m about 213 now)

Keep up the good job girl! - You are doing amazingly well hugs x

ps/ what is a bosu?

ps/ what is a bosu?

Bosu = torture device..lol Seriously - the only way to describe it is like a half stability ball with a hard plastic base. It makes exercises a little tougher to do because you have to keep your balance too. One of the exercises was to do a squat while pushing out a medicine ball then bringing the ball in as I returned to standing position. Another one was to do a side squat lunge thingy. There are many exercises you can do. If you want to see what it looks like, just do a search online for Bosu.

On to business of the day (language warning)......

F..K Yeah!!!!!! I ran the full 20 min for the C25K day I'm on. It was at 4.5 - but still a run for me and I DID IT!!!! I know it is all mental...because at the 15 min mark, I was rationalizing....only 5 more min - I can do that...then..only 3 more min...then...90 seconds...then....DONE!!!

It's up at 4:30 tomorrow for my weight training. Will have to ask her about what could be causing me lower back pain. I'm thinking it is some of the ab workouts we have been doing - also trying to strengthen my back. It sucks that it is so weak....it used to be really strong.

As for my disappointment...didn't last long. I know the next pictures will be great. I'm going to download the starting pics and the ones we just took and compare side by side (maybe post when I have something to show - but they are in my skivies). I am excited about the next 20 lbs - I'll be able to try on my wedding dress again....just for fun of course. Also, I have not lost much weight in the past month or so...but I am losing inches and my clothes are fitting very differently. I'm going to have to invest in a belt or 2 - my pants are threatening to fall down when I walk.

Thanks for explaining ....lol @ torture device haahaahah!!!

I sd get some belt too- my trousers are falling down too - not that i m complianing! quite the oppostie heheheh

Keep up the good job girl!

Hey Justina - doin' great. Didn't have time to post my update yesterday.

Another great day of weight training yesterday. 6 sessions complete - 10 more to go...and I am already getting bummed out! How sad is that? Hoping by some miracle I will 'find' $$ in the budget to keep up the training...but I think I'm going to have to do it on my own.

Was looking forward to running tonight - but hubby kept me to my promise that we would have 'date' night and go out for mexican food (we both love it). I have to let my food settle for a couple hours before running - so tonight is out.

It's a little after 8 pm here - we'll be going to bed shortly - so we can get up early and hit the gym. Planning on 30 min on the elliptical and then weight training. I might do my 30 min run when I get home too if I feel good. I'm not up to running at the gym yet - I huff and puff and make all kinds of noise....possilby even sing loudly out of key with my earbuds in!

It is supposed to be gorgeous here this weekend. Hoping I can talk hubby in to a hike Sunday morning.

Something else I have been pondering....I've wanted to sign up for a 5k very near where I live - going to be later this month. I don't know why I am procrastinating....I just need to do it. Maybe this weekend, I'll commit.

Happy weekend!

MMmmmmmm Mexican food - yum yum - i havnt had it forever. There s a really nice restaurant here that makes Fajitas salad - it is sooo nice.. Shame i cant eat avocado anymore - i m allergic to it :s maybe i drag my friend there next weekend- i have an old high school friend visiting next weekend :)
I really hope your 'date' night went well :)

Goon girl!!! Sign up for that 5k!!! you know you want to!!! you will feel better once you have done it!!! the sense achievement!!! (even just when you commit to it) then once you actually do it - you gonna feel even better.
& you ll get some cool results too i m sure - on the weightloss side of things
:grouphug: hugs

Quick journal note for the day.

Did 30 min on elliptical this morning, then an hour of weight training. I feel great. Decided not to burn myself out with running today, as we are def planning to hike in the morning.

I'm thinking working out with hubby is not a grand idea....he is soooo whiny and gets mad when I am correcting his movements.....he WANTED me to show him what the trainer was showing me...what gives? I don't put up with his S**T - and snap right back.....maybe not a positive arena for us both. lol

Everything is good now that we are back home.

Thinking I might need to start tracking my calories again for a bit - I'm thinking I'm around the 1700 mark on average...but not sure with the weight not moving but at a snails pace. The trainer mentioned the weight training might be adding muscle weight - I thought that wouldn't happen for awhile - but she said that since I had done weight training before, it would happen quicker this time. I def feel my muscles taking shape again.

Tootle loo...

You training with your husband reminds me of my dad teaching medriving or me teaching my mom english - hahaha - not easy when you have train/teach someone close to you - its easier with "strangers" they cant just snap - LOL

Welll done on your excercize! :hurray:
hope you enjoyed the hiking
:grouphug:

Hey Jennifer!!

How is th c25k going!? Looks like you are really cracking through them!! O did 10/ 10 yesterday, I am dreading doing 20 - urgh!!

Don't worry that you cannot see the weight loss, it just takes time, I think it is far easier for other people to see it than ourselves!!

I too am very jealous of the personal trainer! I'd love to be able to afford one! But then I am also concerned how I would find one I like!!! The personal trainers at my gym are all young mouthy lads who would a) make me feel uncomfortable and b) not be paying me enough attention while I am paying them!! Never mind. Maybe one day :) x

Miss Charlie - thanks for stopping by. Really enjoying the C25K - going a bit slower than I would like with it (time wise and speed). Once I lowered my speed to 4.5, I was able to beat the 8/8 and then had no problem with the 20 (other than mentally fighting myself). I plan on doing the 10/10 later this morning.

Justina - thanks for the ongoing support.

Had an excellent start to the morning (nevermind the scale) - hiked behind my house - beautiful day - the sun was shining, birds chirping....well you get the point. There are a couple of very steep inclines in the hike and at the first one my heart rate peaked at 155 and the second one it peaked at 159. Previously, I was in the high 160's low 170's and looked and sounded as if I was going to drop at any moment.

On to my scale reference - the darn thing said 241 this morning!!!! What the heck? I have not eaten 14,000 extra calories since Tuesday - in fact, I am certain my average calories have been under 2,000 (and likely well under). This is exactly why I am NOT putting much stock in the scale right now. I also appear to be bloated and it is not TOM. My body is fighting me - I'm going to officially refer to this as a plateau. My trainer is not concerned right now, so neither am I. With the continual calorie deficit and working out, my body will eventually have to give!

just a quick update - finished my run - the next sequence was 5/8/5 (not 10/10 like I thought) - def harder to do after the morning hike - but I am happy I am finished - no more working out today. I'm going to run a couple errands then it's sitting in my recliner stitching! Since I've been working out, my stitching has suffered greatly. I wish I could do both - but have to focus on my health now.

Cya

hey Jennifer - nice hiking & run!
:hurray:

As for the scale...iwent through this plateau thing too in February - i didnt have a clue what was going on - but then March came - and finally scale is mving down!!

Keep up the good job
:grouphug:

I was so hungry today - seemed that I could not get full - until dinner tonight. I think I ended up around 2,500 cal today (no more than that). Very strange because the latter half of last week, I was not hungry at all in the afternoon through dinner. Busy running around after work so no working out tonight.

Up tomorrow at 4:30 to work with the trainer.

What a difference a day makes in attitude. My official weigh in day today - less than pleased 241.5 - that's right - up 4.5 lbs from last week. Not the best feeling in the world.

Had a fantastic workout with the trainer today! Dare I call it fun? Ohhhh and the best part.....driving down into the canyon (where her facility is) I saw a bobcat run across the road! I just think that is so cool - I love where I live - so close to wildlife - and to see it is absolutely fantastic.

I just popped on the scale when I got home (of course nothing official until next week) 1.5 lbs lighter than this morning - and then something I had not noticed before - my body fat percentage has dramatically dropped! I knew there was something going on. I would like to see the weight drop - but it is more important to just be consistent.

Tomorrow is my run day - will be doing the 10/10 - should be a breeze - right?
