Hey there :D I'm Brittany, and this is the first post where you'll find my starting information.

First of all my measurements.

*Note to self---update on page 3.

Bust: 47"
Waist: 47"
Hips: 49"
SWeight: 270 lbs
Height: 5'4"
Age: 19

My life style changes include calorie counting AND plenty of exercising.

I am currently having real hormonal problems that the doctor is trying to get worked out to help my weight loss. I am also taking medication for a low thyroid at the moment, but I'm confident the doctor has given me the right dosage.

My exercise plan right now is a lot of walking, however many of you will be surprised to know that I do try to walk atleast an hour a day when I'm not calorie counting, so I haven't been sitting on my ass for the past while, my main problem is my eating habbits ( sleeping habbits too )
:ack2: .

I suffer from a milk addiction, but am trying to cut back to 500ml-750ml per day ( I drink many many more glasses than that). I'm also trying to cut back my consumption of carbs (which isn't my personal goal, but something my doctor commanded).

My milk addiction currently has been lightened up with the replacement of no calorie soda, but I'm trying to get off of that stuff because I don't want my bones to snap when I get older :(.

Water currently makes me gag, but I'm determined to drink more of it anyways.

That should be all for my introduction!

Oh! Also I do use FitDay to help me keep track.

Howdy! Don't worry about the water gagging you. Before you know it, you will be craving it! Keep up the good work.

Hi there! Glad you have decided to get your health in order by changing your eating (and drinking) habits, and doing some serious exercise! You totally have youth on your side. I am 5'4 and also have hormonal issues (PCOS, for one) and recently started on Synthroid for my thyroid. Sure hope it helps!

Stick with your calorie counting and exercising, and switch in water for that evil diet soda, and YOU WILL BE A HEALTHY HOTTIE IN NO TIME!!!

Best wishes on your journey,
ABBA

Hello there,

You have found a good place here to air how you are feeling and keeping yourself in check.

Thanks to all of you for the support!
After a nice mouth infection that stopped me from eating even the mushiest of bananas, I am back on track!

Today I feel just amazing! I don't think I stopped eating for more than two hours, but still stayed within my calorie limit!

I've decided to rethink my caloric intake, and I've decided to start at 2100 caloriesa day. This may not be an incredible defecit, but I wanted to start high and work my way down in calories, not only to train my body with restricted eating, but to avoid the plateau business. Plus, it's still something, and I will lose weight, just more slowly for a bit.

Anyways, onto today's food diary.

Breakfast: 1 cup of cheerios + 1 cup of milk

Snack: 40g of Popcorn + 1 cup of milk

More Snack: 14 baby carrot sticks

Lunch : 2 pieces of toast with margarine+ 1 cup of milk

Snack again: 1 cup of dry cheerios (I regret this!)

Dinner: 3 scrambled eggs with 2 pieces of bacon with one slice of toast

Dinner 2: 9oz of chili + 1 cup of orange juice

Final: 1 cup of 100% grapefruit juice

(these were all measured out using my scale, and measuring devices)

Total approximate calories :2100!

I feel like I ate a lot of variety today, and I am happy with what I ate. According to fitday I was only short on two vitamins today, which is quite rare for me.

I will be going out for a walk later too.

First off.

I lost 3lbs this week!!!

I was very happy, I didn't think the week went so well, but it did.

I haven't quite grasped the idea of five food groups, but I'm hoping that as I progress, i'll slowly change my eating habbits.

Anyways, my day went like this.

Breakfast: 1 cup of corn bran squares +1 cup of milk

Snack: 2 cubic inches of cheese

snack: 40g of popcorn

more eating: 3 cups of raw vegetables including brocoli, peppers, cucumbers and more + 1 cup of orange juice

Lunch: Pizza Pocket

snack : 1 cubic inch of cheese

Dinner: Canned pasta + another pizza pocket

Snack: 1 egg

+ Random : Chicken noodle soup

Total Calories (yes I portion everything out, I've very careful about it!!!): 2122 calories. I'm over my caloric limit by 22 today, but I did exercise.

I did 20 minutes of walking, but I was afraid I'd be hit by the snow plow, so I came home and shoveled my drive way for 17 minutes.

So about 35 minutes of exercise.

I feel good today.

This week I made it a goal to stay off the computer for a few days hoping to see myself being more productive during the days that I wasn't on. I was much moreproductive, but have no diary for the past few days that I've missed.

I have however gotten down to 255! Three more pounds this week, I'm happy.

Hey, well done ni starting your journey. Mine has been amazing, and I am happy every day that I started it, no regrets!

I hope your Dr. can figure out what you need hormone wise (I am a training Ob/Gyn), and remember weight loss can help you with lots of gynaecological issues. Many infertile women regulate to normalcy and have lots of nice pregnancies after losing extra weight, so even if right now it doesn't seem perfect, in a few pounds you may see the hormonal world with different eyes.

Also: the synthroid (or imilar drugs) are NOT for weight loss!! Sure they help relieve symptoms of Hypothyroidism, and one of the symptoms is weight gain, but you should not hold onto that as your weight loss mechanism (which I know you don't, I just thought I'd say it because lots of people abuse their thyroid medication to achieve more weight loss). I myself have hypothyroidism, but I have decided to put the use of Synthroid off for another 2 months. My symptoms are not extreme, and I need to show myself, that I can lose this weight, without pills etc...

Last little bit of advice: you may want to eat some more fruit and vegetables! They are yummy once you get used to them and they are low cal (most of them), good for you and filling. Try different ones, experiment with them, and try (if possible) to eat 5 (if possible different) portions of fresh fruit and veg a day. It will make you healthier!
I am a veg junkie myself! If you need recipes, you can just ask me... I have a gazillion of them!

I hear ya girl about the water! That was one of my biggest hurdles to over come..and its only been a month. I have gone from drinking pretty much none during the day to 64-96 oz's a day. The best way for me was the new water bottle I have. Its made by Camelbak and looks like this: It has like a bite spout and yes I chew on it when I am hungry LOL

Thanks for the support and comments! I appreciate it!

@Niffer---actually, I've just in the past few days experienced this. I've been drinking water like CRAZY the past few days, I've had to pee like 100% more than I had before. I've also found it's easier to eat less, and I haven't been drinking a ridiculous amount of milk either. My body is starting to adjust I think so I'm very happy. I'm going to continue to have water on hand at all times

Anyways, I had a few off days since my last weigh in day, but I'm back on track again.

Yesterday I consumed around 1950 calories.

And here is today's diary:

Breakfast: 1 cup Corn Bran + 1 cup of 2% milk - 250 calories

Snack: Pizza Pocket (they're my down fall!) 250 calories

Lunch: 3 oz of Boneless skinless chicken breast --150 calories

Snack 2: Banana -70 calories

Dinner: 1 cup of milk +2 burritos--1142 calories made as such:

2 Whole grain tortillas (YES! actually whole grain, the ingredientsay so!)
1 cup of lean (Fat squeezed the heck out of it too) ground beef mixed with refried beans
4 tbsps sour cream
2 large leaves of lettuce

Now the only issue with the calorie count on the buritos is that I don't know exactly the ratio to of meat to beans, so I had to just add the calories for an entire 1 cup of refried beans, plus an entire cup of hamburger, which is probably an overestimation.

But in any case:

Total calories today: approximately 1870 calories

Additionally I had some sweet and sour soup at 190 calories, plus some watermelon at around 40 calories bringing my total to 2100 calories ^_^.

Edit: I broke down really late before bed and had extra toast too, take me 180 calories over my calorie budget.

2280 calorie isn't THAT bad though, still under my maintenance, and I did exercise last night, so I'm alright.

I asked a friend who also increased her water intake about all the bathroom trips and she assured me that in time my body would get used to it and I wouldn't have to go as much, and she was right! I feel dehydrated now if I don't drink a ton of water everyday. Keep up the good work!

Congrats on losing your 6 pounds! It is so good that you record/calorie count. I should get better at that. I used to hate water too. I started drinking flavored water, and some propel. Also, this may sound weird, but I put lemon juice in it. But now I like it more than I used to - even just plain believe it or not :) ..

Lifewater is pretty calorie filled, but crystal clear (Which comes in liter bottles at grocery stores for like 60 cents a bottle) is so good. They have many different flavors. Propel has about 25-50 calories a bottle depending how big it is.

Again, congrats on your 6 pounds and keep up the good work

Hey there, just wanted to check out a new person:) If you have trouble with the water I suggest Crystal Light or any of those drink mixes that are 5 calories or less per 8oz glass. I personally can't stand the taste of water first thing in the morning, so I can have flavored water with next to no calories and still be happy:)

I used to drink flavored water ALL the time, then I got so tired of going to the bottle depot to return all the empties LOL now plain water for me!

I like flavored water, but It's a lot more expensive to buy in bottles than plain water is, but as I said, I'm getting better with it, starting to enjoy it.

Thanks to all of you for posting in my diary :D

Now onto today.

I got up earlier this morning or so, took my pills and ate breakfast. After breakfast I did something I NEVER do, I went for a 40 minute walk. I usually don't go out in the day because I don't want people to see me, but, I really enjoyed it. It's a cold windy day, my favorite!

Please keep in mind, I use not only a food scale, measuring cups, and package nutritional tables, but I also use fitday as one of my tools.

I'm going to go pick up a new food scale tonight too if they have any left! yipee!

Anyhow.

Breakfast: 2.2 oz of boneless skinless chicken breast
2 pieces of whole wheat bread + 1 slice of ham
4 oz of muskmelon
3 oz of watermelon

Snack: 1 medium sized banana + 1 medium orange

random meal : Pizza pocket

random meal too: can of pasta (ack!!! this had a lot of calories)

Dinner: 8 small Potato thingies (going by pack servings)+ 3 oz left over refried beans & hamburger

Total: 2100 calories :)

I'm planning to go out for more exercise later, I feel great today. But after my trip to the store- which is now.

I went out for another 45 minutes of brisk walking after I saw that my scale wasn't entirely accurate.

Well CRAP. I got the new food scale, I was thrilled about that, but I also bought a digital weight scale for $20 that was $43 last week when I checked!!!!!!!!

Well a good deal is always fun, unfortunately, however, I'm back at square one, because the digital scale says I'm six pounds heavier than the ticky scale. So I'm rather depressed, but glad I was able to get that only 2 weeks in.

QUICK go back to your old scale! lol That is why I only weight myself on the same one. It is digital too but only to the .5 pounds. Also does body fat % and water %. Honestly those 2 scare me and I only look at the weight. Don't get discouraged, keep it up!

Ah crap. I let he stress build up, and I talked myself out of exercise tonight, and ended up binging. I was doing fine all week, then the stress of the scale last night, my boyfriend being weird all started piling up. Then the final thing that got me, was I was playing online game and I totally ended up snapping. I don't feel well.

I had probably around 2900 calories tonight without doing exercise. Hopefully tomorrow I'll feel better and be able to get right back on track.

After all that work I did to try and track the chili too.
