General hysterical diet related rambling: From Flab to Fab.

Mmmmmm, porridge with grated apple and seeds sounds delicious, I will definitely be having that every other day as the same brekkie every day can get a bit samey.

I am a bit scared about the tt, but the end result makes it worth it!

I went to the theatre tonight, and managed it with NO actual junk food, and only two drinks! I saw dirty dancing, but Johnny (acted by partick swayze in the film) was a weed, and it ruined it for me.

I AM NO LONGER IN A SUGAR HEAD FRENZY!!!!!! I DON'T WANT TO EAT JUNK ANYMORE!!!! FOOD GUILT IS BACK!!!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSS! I've noticed my appetite is loads smaller as well. Its just clicked that I am not depriving myself by not eating crap, i am doing the complete and utter opposite.

Food
Porridge with sultanas and cinnamon
vegetable biryani
2 vodka diet cokes
few handfuls dried tropical mixed fruit and nuts

Excersice
Half hour morning workout (cardio, strength and stretching)
about and hour and a half walking

Fruit and veg - I shall say 3. Ish. Dunno how many veggies were in the biryani.

Just uploaded some pics to prove to you all I'm not lying about being skinny before! I haven't got as many skinny pics as I'd like, which is all the more reason to get fit again, and this time i will take thousands of pics, and break the internet with them all. I look a bit wasted in one of them lol. I look SO much better at a healthy weight, even my face looks different. Usually with before and after pics the before is the fat, and the after is fit, but its the opposite way around in this case! So I might be the first person on here to have a before and after and after album!

Heres the link....

Weight Loss Forum - overtherainbow's Album: pics of me now and when skinny.

Wow, you carry your weight really well. I'm so jealous! (one of the advantages of being tall, I guess)

I've been posting in the omnivore cooking club- would appreciate some advice on a recipe that I want to try. What do you think?

Any suggestions on how to cut the calories on this?

My thoughts so far are to replace the plum jam (which is something like 800 calories, holy hell) with a can of prunes (and blend them), halve the meat and replace it with potatoes and/ or vegetables (possibly also portabello mushrooms), and to brown the meat in frylight rather than oil then stick the rest in the slow cooker. The calorie calculator I usually use to figure these things out isn't giving me numbers I would say are reliable though, so I'm not quite sure what the figures would be and whether these kinds of changes are enough.

Thanks, I still feel enormous though :nopity:

I've never cooked a fruity stew like this before, so i may be wrong, but i think that tinned prunes would work well. The flavour in prunes is much more concentrated than in plums, so you will need to use only about a quarter of the amount of prunes. I think if in doubt use less prunes than you think, and if the flavour isn't as strong as you like you can always add some more next time. The great thing about stews is that you can toss just about anything in it and it still tastes delicious, so i would go ahead and put veggies and mushrooms in it and halve the meat. Maybe you could add some chickpeas instead of potatoes as they're a lower gi, and also are a bit Moroccan like prunes/plums?

I had no food in today, my bf and kids ate out, so i have had a bit of a weird food day today. The shoppings being delivered tomorrow tho.

Food
Teenytiny amount of porridge with apple and cinnamon
chicken stir fried with a yellow pepper and red onion with soy sauce
The leftover stir fry chicken (quite a lot)
2 peaches, 2 pears, a plum, satsuma

Excersice
10 mins trampoline (ached too much from yesterdays excersice)
2 hours hardcore housework. I always have a mammoth clean the day before my shopping arrives. I haven't even left the house today!

Fruit n Veg- 8!

I think the shorter you are the more your weight affects your size. I'm not too badly off (I'm 167cm, which I think is 5'6"), but I always feel gigantic widthways near my tall friends. I also know that what you see probably isn't what everyone else sees- at least that's certainly the case for me (I have a before/ after thread, and I can't believe what other people are saying about me- I think I've got a long way to go).

Hadn't thought about chickpeas, that's an excellent idea. Also good to know about the prunes- I was going to stick the whole (410g) can in. Makes for a reasonable saving. I'm going to cook this tomorrow and see how it goes. Should come out (if I make it as I played with the numbers a few hours ago) at about 380/ serve. Something I really enjoyed making and am excited to be able to make again. I love stew.

Yeah, I think thats definitely the case, but a disadvantage is that you have to lose more lbs per dress size.

I slipped up today, boohoo. My son is obsessed with ice cream so i got 12 cornettos with this weeks shopping. I was thinking about them constantly, with longing, and saliva. I justified having one as i didn't eat much yesterday. I knew in the beginning that the internal argument i was having in my brain would ultimately lead to only one result- me eating the ice cream. But... One is never enough for me and I ate two. I am surprised i managed to stop at that. I think that in future, i won't get ice cream, just fruit pastille ice lollies or them rocket shaped ones.

I just had a lovely dinner.... You should try it :drool5:. My bf didn't like it that much, but i thought it was gorgeous, although next time I'll be only putting in a teaspoon of lemon, and removing the seeds from the tomatoes before frying them so they are a bit less bitter. Its quite expensive to make, so i think that next time i might get lamb mince and make it into burgers instead of the neck fillets.

Food
Fruit and fibre creal
2 cornetto's
lamb with a nut and seed crust with griddled tomatoes and aubergine
2 satsumas, apple, peach and plum
5 milky coffees

Excersice
half hours cleaning
1 hour dance central
15 minutes trampoline.

Fruit and veg 5 portions

What do you do on the trampoline? (Apart from flail around!!) We have one at my gym but i just sort of bounce and don't do very much!!

I stick on mtv, and mainly twist from side to side with my torso staying in the same place and my feet twisting 90 degrees towards the left, then 90 degrees towards the right. I do it like that as it works out your obliques. It gets me quite out of breath as I'm so unfit! I think I'll start jogging when i no longer break a sweat on the trampoline. Was thinking of getting some small weights and doing them at the same time.

Um, please don't tell my husband [hi, bongobongo!], but I do believe I am in love with you! I think we are very similar in brain, and lifestyle, though you live in my dream land of London and I am stuck in frozen Alaska!

I am currently 14 stone 11 [sounds wayyyy better than 207 lbs!] so hopefully I can follow you down the scale! You have just inspired me to get in 30 more minutes of cardio!

Hey girl! at least you stopped at two and not wipe out the whole box!!

Thanks so much for stopping by my diary, i'm way overdue to send you some more love!!!

The love, the love, I can feel the lurrrrrrve!!!!! :grouphug:

Brrrr, Alaska, I am getting cold just thinking about it! I think if i lived there i would let my body hair grow so long that i look like a human huskie. If father christmas is heading your way (as he likes the cold, that guy), tell him that i would like diamond stud earrings please. And ask him to lend you his coat.

I'm not as good at the excersice as some of the other people on here, But i think its good to do some at the same time each day. I'm bouncing out of bed (okay, crawling), and then bouncing straight onto the trampoline on autopilot now. I also do ten of each sit ups, squats, press ups (cheat ones), tricep dips, and try and stretch a bit in a yoga like way. Its a good feeling going about your day knowing you've worked out. And i think your less likely to pig out knowing that you've burned some fat in the morning. However i am hugely unfit, and spend most days walking like an old lady. My right thigh and back are todays victims.

Your exactly the same weight i was when i started out  How much weight have you lost? x

I have been quite a good girl today, and ignored cornettos being waved under my nose by them bloody children of mine. The swines. I have been tempted though. I don't understand why the put fresh fruit next to cakes in shops. Why??? Whhhhhhhhhhyyyyyy????? And i walked past a recycling box which had an empty box of thorntons choccies in it and i swear i actually swooned, a full knee weakening, drool mouthed swoon.

I have one and a half days till i weigh myself now, and i have this irrational fear that i will not have lost a single pound (let alone the at-least two i was hoping for), and i will never be 13 stone something ever again. So I am going to eat ridiculously healthy tomorrow. So I am not dissapointed. Hopefully.

Food
porridge with apple, sultanas and cinnamon (medium portion)
Edeme bean salad (only 88 cals)
Home made spaghetti bolognese
2 plums, 2 peaches

Exercise
Half hour morning workout
About an hour walking

Fruit and veg 8 (loads and loads in the spag bol)

Oh man, Rainbow, you are awesome for managing to avoid the cornettos today! I can imagine what would happen if they were in my freezer (me sittingt in the bath, probably naked, with a teatowel, covered in icecream and chocolate...)

So good on ya! Yep, definitely go for the icey-poles next time (I don't know what you guys call them). Your kids probably won't really mind the difference anyway.

You've been doing relaly well, so don't worry about your weigh in! That edamame salad sounds to die for... what's in it (besides edamame, obviously...)

I really envy your strength at sticking to fruit for snacks... i need to get something like that... but I'm just not a fruity girl :) Maybe I'll chop up a huge bunch of carrot sticks and pop them in a tupperware container with some tzatziki - you're inspirational!

I hate that it takes so long to develop fitness. Surely a week of being really dedicated should make it just happen? Your tramampaleen sounds hell fun! :) x

Teeheeheee! Thats exactly what i felt like doing, believe me!

It was a little snack pot, after i finished eating it i looked at the ingredients and was surprised to see it had green beans and radishes in it, i probably wouldn't have picked it if i had known that, but it was scrummy. I think the dressing made it scrumptious. Tzatziki rings a bell, so the dressing could have been that. It had a sweet chilli sort of vibe to it.

I had a freak out this evening when i couldn't find my fruit! When i was cooking last week my 2 year old daughter lily took a bite out of every single piece of fruit in the fruit bowl. Just one bite. I now hide it in the laundry trunk. Yes, I have a trunk for laundry. A huge gigantic massive great big one. And its always over flowing. I blame my clothes being too big. Maybe when I am half the dress size i am now, the laundry trunk will have half the volume of washing in it. Anyway, i was just watching eastenders and wandered downstairs to get my food from the trunk. I scrabbled through it like a dog digging a bone, but alas, it was gone. So i had to eat tinned pineapple, in syrup. Yup, syrup, sweet sticky yummy but bad bad bad syrup. Oh well.

The point that i haven't actually properly made is that i have to munch on something while watching tv, its the rules. Before it was cake, biscuits or cereal (mainly two of the above). So its not really a dedication, more of a compulsion. I am orally fixated.

The trampoline is fun! I couldn't do any proper exercise this morning tho, as i am aching like a motherfucker (pardon the language), so i just boogied round the front room a bit. In an aerobic/embarrasing sort of jerky, ache-y way. Glad my new curtains have come lol. Every time i am on the trampoline Lily (2) gives me dollies/teddy bears to hold. So i hold them. To keep her happy. We only had a roller blind in the centre of the bay window, so people can see in the side windows, and a bloke looked in as he was going past and looked horrified to see me jumping on the trampoline holding two newborn babies clumsily. One black and one white lol. They were dollies btw! I am now preparing myself for a visit from social services/the police lol. So yes, I have new curtains now! And my front room is starting to look rather fabulous, if i do say so myself.

I wasn't superhealthy today (loads of cheese- ate the leftover cheesy topping for the chicken), but i was looking back at an old diet diary (where i thought i had had a good day, despite eating a quarter of a cheescake and a bounty), and compared to that, i haven't done awfully.

Food
Fruit and fibre with full fat milk
chicken breast with cheese and spinach, with small amount of basmati rice and oven baked Mediterranean veggies (courgette-zuchinni, peppers, mushrooms, onions, garlic)
Half a large tin of pineapple in syrup.

Exercise
half hour dancing
30 minutes walking.
Kegels ;)

When i was cooking last week my 2 year old daughter lily took a bite out of every single piece of fruit in the fruit bowl. Just one bite.

Reminds me of a story my mum tells about when I was about that age. My parents had money woes then, and shopped quite frugally (did long after money woes settled down, which taught me some important life lessons). Mum and I were going shopping, and were in the fruit and veg section. Before she could stop me, I'd leant over, picked up one of the most expensive hydroponic tomatoes (this is long before organic- hydroponic was the expensive type, at least in Australia), and took a great big bite out of it. Mum paid for that one tomato- but didn't let me have the rest of it (not sure what she did with it, but didn't want to reward that kind of behaviour!).

Hahaahaha :) Your life is funny :) Whenever you mention the trampoline from now on, I'll envisage you with all these newborns from around the world bouncing around too. hehehe.

TOTALLY get what you mean about having to eat in front of the telly. I bet pretty much everyone on this forum would understand that! In the evenings, after dinner where I sit and watch telly, I have this new technique (ha - okay, so I've done it for the past two days and it's worked) where I just hang onto a glass of water. For me, it's as much about that conpulsive hand-to-mouth movement. Like a smoker, I suppose!

Naughty you stealing abite of a tomato lol. Your mum did the right thing. She sounds like a good mum. I would like to think i'd pay for something my kids had taken a bitye out of... but i'm not sure i would. In fact i remember feeding a stolen supermarket grape to my son charlie once. Bad me.

I didn't buy any more fruit today boohoo, I think i will need to go to the shop in a minute and get something. The shop where the chocolate bars are. And i really do fancy one right now I tell ya. I think its cos i made a non low gi pizza for dinner, the cravings are itching their itcy itch again arrghhh. I am telling them to sod off, rather rudely.

I lost 2lbs in the past weekn :hurray:, i am a bit dissapointed it wasn't two stone, after all my effort this week. But never mind. Two pounds i can live with, and It means that I'm 13 stone 13 in english weight (not 14 stone something any more) I think its quite good coming on a website where people mainly use pounds, because i feel like i've reached a goal now, and i'll also feel like i've reached one when i get out of the 190's in 5lbs time! then only 8lbs after that i will have another cause for celebration when im 12 stone something. Its gooood! Oh yes, and i also can celbrate when i've lost a stone in 3lbs time. So i have three weight loss happy moments soon, at 3, 5, and 8lbs from now lol. Who knew it, a diet is one big celebration. I know, i am wittering on a bit now in a nonsensical way. Oh well...

Food
Porridge with apple, sultanas and cinnamon
large bit of homemade pizza with big salad
A tin of fruit with evaporated milk was the plan. But two ice creams (cornettos) was the reality. Shit.

Exercise
20 minute morning workout
An hour walking
45 minutes cleaning

Have you thought about ordering groceries online? I don't do it very often (because the only supermarket that delivers to me for free is Waitrose... and I'm a student, Waitrose is very risky), but I find it a lot easier to not look at the "sweets" section on a website than to literally walk past the crisps, sweets, etc aisle (or worse, have to go down that aisle because there's something healthy I want there!).

I do (so much easier), but I still go to the shops to get the odd bit- like diet coke and lightbulbs yesterday-theres always something i forget! I use asda, but i do think that morrisons is cheaper for fruit.

I can't stand going in shops. there is just so much junk in most of them, lurking, tempting you, whispering to you....... I find it best to stick to the perimeter of the shop and not walk down the aisles.

I slipped up again today and ate two cornettos just now. Tomorrow is a shiny brand new day tho... and I will do myself proud. Only one left in the freezer, thank god, and then they are gone. Phew.

Any day where you've made more good choices than you used to isn't a wasted/ blowout day- that's how I like to think about it.

Also, is it possible that giving up sweets isn't working for you? I'm not trying to drag you off the path or slag your diet (just trying to be helpful here), but I know I'd be a lot more tempted by things like that if I didn't have a very small amount of chocolate or some of my pseudo-junk or something like that once in awhile.

Thats true! Even on my worst days i am still eating better than before. I didn't think of it like that, so thanks :)

Its my birthday on saturday, and i think i am going to have some cake of some sort. Its my birthday. It would be rude, and completely unbirthdayish not to. I will eventually allow myself sweet treats every week (maybe a dessert on a sunday), but not for a couple of weeks before I've vanquished the sugar demon for good. I want to feel like i want it because i want it, not because i NEED it, if that makes sense?

Food
A very large bowl of fruit n fibre
One and a half kievs, and a ladle full of vegetably rice
A tin of fruit cocktail

Excersice
An hours walking, didn't have time for workout this morning as i woke late for an appointment.

Fruit and veg 1 1/2. Ooops.
