I really hope someone can help me with this, it is so incredibly frusterating! I am 25 years old and am not to terribly overweight. I have the body type that gets bulky fairly quickly. I have always had larger thighs, however since I've started exercising again 3 weeks ago, my thighs and hips have grown! Each of my thighs has increased by 1/2 inch and my hips by an inch. I know it's not muscle yet because they actually grew by that much within the first week. I have been doing The Firm and mixing in some Shape DVDs. About 3 years ago I was running 3 miles on the treadmill 6 times a week and also doing the Shape DVDs and my thighs stayed huge for 6 weeks. The only reason I slimmed down was because I got pregnant and was absolutely sicker than a dog. Even my mom noticed how much thinner I got after I quit exercising.
Does this have something to do with lactic acid or water retention? I do drink at least 60 ounces of water each day.
Any ideas would be great! I'm so frusterated I'm not sure what to do. I want to exercise because it makes me feel great, however I HATE how tight my jeans have gotten! I thought the purpose of exercise was to slim down?
