From My Couch To A 5K... And Beyond!

That is an amazing list!!!! Congratulations 9 times over. You didn't just reach the 150's, you've leapt into them. I am so excited for you. Darn it, size 8 AND a medium!!! That is success in itself. Great Work.

Congrats on losing 3lbs this week! WTG!:party:

The rules for teaching summer school must be different down there from here b/c my friend's H has taught it every year since he first started and had 0 seniority. That or there are more summer school classes up here, or the teachers with seniority want their summers off...lol.

Oh well--you'll have your summer off to enjoy sitting around looking fab in a bikini.

Yes you will have the whole summer off to look fab in a bikini! That is awesome. You have had a lot of successes in the past few days and you completely deserve them because you work very hard. I did the first day of Week 6 today and hauled ass, and it felt great!!!

Have an excellent weekend:)

* Cough, Cough *

So many cobwebs on my page 6 diary! :)

I have been such a WLF slacker, but not a eating / exercise slacker! I am still going at it, and I am still feeling good!

My school issued laptop crashed a while back, so I would have to go into one of the back rooms to use the desktop for computer time. Well... I got my laptop back!!! :D Now I can play on here and watch tv all at the same time! Life is good!

We are dog sitting this weekend, so we have Rookie (my friend's Lab) and my dog (Max) and cat (Bo). My cat doesn't really think much of the big Lab walking around his house. He is fine with Max in his home, but he hasn't quite adjusted to having this bigger dog around. It's really funny to watch!

Speaking of Labs, I am currently reading Marley and Me. It's really good so far!

Took both dogs on a walk today...

That was an adventure! And loads of fun!

:D

The cat is still very skeptical of this situation...

Hey Tyly, hope you're enjoying your weekend with the doggies and kitty :). I love animals myself and animal lovers are always vetted as good people in my book. Did the 3 lb loss match up with the spreadsheet? TTYL

Hey! :)

I lost 2.2 pounds, and it was much closer this time after messing with the numbers. Thanks again!

James and I are both such suckers for animals. We went to Pet Smart yesterday to get some stuff for the dog, and we almost came home with another kitty! She was just so darn cute! If left to our own devices, we would own waaaaay too many dogs and cats! :D

Tyly, I messed up! I forgot to update on time. I feel like a putz.

Second chance competition it is! We will still give them all a run for their money! :)

I got my race number and shirt today!!!!

The shirt is too big... I am going to toss it in the dryer in hopes of shrinking it. I may have to use a rubber band to gather it in the back.

Anywho... I am #52!!!

:D

Congrats Tyly!

Your race is in like 2 weeks or so right? How exciting! It's finally a reality. You trained for months to run this 5k and you are going to do it :)

-Sam

Stupid is the girl who trains to run a 5K, achieves it, then takes 2 weeks off of running until the week before the race! Ahhh! *Side note - I did do the run for the challenge; I mean that I hadn't run over a mile in 2 weeks*

Quite possibly one of the dumbest things I have ever done.

The problem is that I got a bit too cocky. My body was really cooperating with me, and it made me lazy! I discovered that I didn't have to try nearly as hard as before to lose weight, so I have been slacking on the exercise. I have been working out for my challenge minutes every week, but it hasn't been all that intense, and it hasn't been running.

I ran today, and oh my gosh... it was so much harder than it should have been! I only ran 2 miles, and it was really, really tough!

So basically I have 4 days to retrain myself! Yikes!

I WILL do it. I WILL run the 5K, because I refuse to fail. It just may not be as fast as I could have done it.

Stupid, stupid, stupid Tyly!

You'll do fine! Dont overtrain too much right before the big day, and make sure to eat plenty to give you enough energy. Looking forward to hearing how it goes :).

You'll be fine. You'll be so motivated by race day that you'll run the whole thing no problem.

CARBS, CARBS,CARBS!

Enjoy you're pre-race carb fest!

Thanks, love! I am going to enjoy my carb-fest! I have your permission! :D

Yesterday's 2 miles were rough, but today was a bit better! That makes me feel good!

Today I did 2.5 miles, and I am going to do 3 miles tomorrow. That will put my mind at ease. I do plan on running Thursday and Friday, but I haven't decided on how much. Probably just 2 miles both days. I don't want to push it too much before Saturday!

I never should have taken a break from running! What a dummy. :)

I have to brag for a second.

I don't know why it is just now dawning on me how amazing James is being about this whole 5K thing.

He is not a guy who enjoys traveling. At all. Especially with gas prices being the way they are right now. The 5K is 45 minutes away from where we are, and I have to be there at 7:30 am. So not only does he have to drive me there on a Saturday morning, he also has to leave home at 6:30 am on a Saturday morning! We are going to drive the 45 minutes to get there, I run the race in ~35 minutes, then we drive the 45 minutes back home! And not once has he complained. If fact, it has been just the opposite! He has been asking how I am feeling, telling me to make sure I get enough carbs/sleep the night before, and just been all around encouraging the entire time! After every run he always asks how it went, he always checks to make sure nothing hurts (I was getting a blister), and he's always telling me how proud he is. It's such an amazing feeling to have my own personal cheerleader - in a manly way, of course! :)

I'm just so lucky to have him.

Do you mind if I give my opinion? Anytime you work out the day before, you have a bit less strength the next day, and that tends to get progressively worse until your muscles get a rest. After a rest from strenuous training, you come back super strong (so if anything increase your miles now so you can get in a rest day on Fri). So I would agree giving up training was a bad idea, but training on the day before could also make things a lot more difficult on yourself than they have to be. Rest up and enjoy this! Alternatively, you do you and who am I to say? he he
