From My Couch To A 5K... And Beyond!

Congrats on the 6lb loss this month. Great progress all around.

You sound very dedicated in your training for the 5k. I love running on the treadmill and dream of one day running in a mini marathon. Maybe one day I'll actually do it.

Thanks! I wish I had a treadmill at my disposal. I prefer running outdoors, but a treadmill would really come in handy on bad weather days!

I bet you could run a mini marathon one day! I never imagined myself being able to run a 5K!

:)

a 6 pound loss is a great loss for the month!

I know you will reach your goals sooner than you think!

Thanks for the positivity!

I guess I could look at it this way:

If I lost 6.6 pounds in March (like I did in Feb.), that would put me at 159.4! The 150's!!!! And right in time for my April Fool's goal!

WOOHOO!

:D

Thanks for putting a smile on my face with the positive thought, Trevor!

I am beginning to wonder if I should up my calories to lose more weight.

Right now I eat anywhere from 1200 - 1400.

I'm wondering if going to 1400 - 1600 would help.

Hmmm... food for thought.

:)

I have made one good change to my food. I always have a snack around 9:30, before lunch at 11:45. I have decided instead of the usual 100 calorie cookies, chips, etc., I am going to have a small can of tuna and a slice of bread! It's a lot more filling (thank you protein!) and a lot better for me! Plus, it's only 150 calories! :)

uping the calories. I just dont get it??? I might try it next week
just to see?!

Thanks Amber! You are always so sweet and supportive!

I went grocery shopping today, and I was a good girl. I bought some Fiber One bars hoping they will help me... ummm... "go" on a more regular basis. I know fiber bars alone won't do it, but I am trying to make little changes here and there to help. I am also going to look into the cereals that contain more fiber.

I have my 3rd ESL class tomorrow. Sooooo close to done! It would be the last one, but they cancelled last week's AFTER we were already there! Ugh. I drove the 30 minutes there, only to have them tell me it was cancelled. Oh well. Tomorrow is my group's turn to present. After that, we only have 1 more Saturday! I can't wait until I get to sleep in on Saturdays again!

I hope the weather is as nice tomorrow as it was today. It was perfect running weather!

And about running... I bought the Nike+ sensor and iPod thing today! I am SO excited to start using it! I run with Asics, so I had to buy a shoe adapter to put the sensor in. As soon as that comes in, it's on! I read all about it's features, and it is awesome! I can't wait to use it! :D

Hi Tyly

I thought that I would visit your new diary. A 6.6 pounds loss over February is really good. :hurray: It is more than a pound and a half a week and that is a good healthy rate of weight loss.

My cousin Ashlyn has that sensor that detects how far you run and gives you all the statistics. She was showing me it at Christmas. I am sure that you will find it very useful.

You are so brave with your running. I dont think that I would dare to try jogging yet. I know that I am getting fitter because I do my aerobics - but jogging and running sounds so much more athletic.

Take care

Tyly, I freaked when I could not find your diary!!! But then saw you had a new one, and all was ok.

Wanna be on a team with me for BB's new challenge?

Hi Daiseeangel - thanks for stopping by my diary. Congratulations on starting to run - i've found it to be a big help in losing weight.

Hey Tyly,

I was so disoriented when I couldn't find you! Whew, at last we are reunited. Good job on the title... reaffirming your commitment to running!!!

As for fiber cereal. I eat bran buds...it is the most mundane cereal ever, but I love it. It looks like cat food. My cat's skinny so maybe eating something that looks like cat food will make me me skinny too! LOL.

*big hugs* in the new diary!!!!

Thank you! I know you are fit! Anyone that exercises as much as you has to be! :)

I am glad to hear that Ashlyn likes using the sensor for her running. I am really excited to try it out! I hope it gives me more accurate times and distances. Plus, I love that you can track all of your past runs and see progress!

Yes, all is ok! But I am glad that you were momentarily freaking out over losing me! :)

I would LOVE to be on a team with you! I PM'd ya!

You made me laugh out loud! My cat is a fatty, so I hope it is more like your cat's food than my cat's food! Lol! I will be checking it out!

On the topic of fiber and "going"...

I was on my Day 3 of Week 7 run today. I was going good and feeling strong, when all of a sudden, oh my goodness.... without being way to vulgar, I will just say the feeling hit. Apparently my Fiber One bar decided to kick in during minute 18 of my run! Ack!

I was way to stubborn to quit, but let me just say that the thought of the toilet waiting for me at home helped me reach new speeds! Those were the fastest last 7 minutes ever! LOL!

LMAO!! :smilielol5: That happened to me last fall when I was out on a walk. I was out in the country, and a mile from home. Let's just say I did that last mile in record time...lol.

The funny part is that I had to run 25 minutes, regardless of the speed. So even though I sped up, the 25 minutes weren't going to end any sooner! I guess in my mind if I ran faster, the toilet would appear sooner. Hehe. :D

You just keep on running girl! After all, you're on my team!

Exercise tends to make you "move" in more way than one in my experience.

Hahaha!! My cat used to be a fatty too. Its strange, though. Now that he's 13, he's lost weight even though he has the same cat food and he's exercising way less. He hardly ever goes outside anymore, but he's in good health. That's the diet and exercise plan I want!!!
