From My Couch To A 5K... And Beyond!

Daiseeangel- Congrats on your weight loss! 6.6 is quite admirable in my book:) Also reading about your couch to 5k is making me think I need to start running again. A Self magazine article inspired me to run back in college but after I overdid it and received a stress fracture I stopped to heal and never started again... but now you have me thinking!

I'm also giggling when I think about you running your 5k race in the upcoming spring with a toilet waiting for you at the end... haha:) Hope it's a good week!

Hey Tyly :)

I haven't been on here in a few days. I finished my first two days of the C25K. It's fun. I can't wait until I get to start week 2.

Thats cool about the Nike Adapter thing you got. I've heard of those before. I hope you like it. I am currently running in a pair of Asics and love them. They have probably been the kindest running shoe to my foot I've had so far.

Good job on the grocery shopping. I need to do that tomorrow or the next day too....

Hahaha!! My cat used to be a fatty too. Its strange, though. Now that he's 13, he's lost weight even though he has the same cat food and he's exercising way less. He hardly ever goes outside anymore, but he's in good health. That's the diet and exercise plan I want!!!

No joke! I would love to know how your cat pulls that off! I'm very jealous! :)

hey girl, i just wanted to come by to wish you a great week!!!

Thanks, hun! You too! :)

Now that is a great thought! While running, picture a large, sparkly porcelain toilet at the end! That'll keep me going! :D

I'm glad you're considering running again! Just start slow, and I bet you'd be surprised with what you could accomplish!

Hey babe, Jerome is on board with us! Team name ideas?

That Jerome is a smart fellow! He's teamed with 2 of the hottest chicks around! I'll be thinking of a name! :)

Hey handsome! I'm glad you are enjoying the program!

I love my Asics! I'm very flatfooted, and I have had no troubles with these shoes. They are men's shoes (I've got big feet! :) ), and they fit me very well!

The funny thing is that I bought them like a year ago before I ever even considered running. I knew I wanted to start working out, and I got them for really cheap! I have been wearing them and loving them ever since. I dread the day I need new ones!

I let Sour Jelly Bellys get the best of me today... oops. But man they were good! :D

I don't ever let that happen, and since I ate them all :)D) I don't have to worry about making the same mistake again tomorrow.

I was pretty high in calories (compared to usual) today... almost 1900, and what ticks me off is that it was mostly on junk. Oh well. No use in beating myself up about it now! I'm planning on a lower calorie day tomorrow to help with damage control.

I hope I still see a loss on Friday!

:)

Man, I am totally ticked off.

I just redrove the route that I have been running, and I discovered that it isn't .8 miles like I thought. It's actually only .6 miles! GRRR.

I know that doesn't sound like too huge of a difference, but it's a huge difference to me!

I run the route 3 times, so when I thought I was running 2.4 miles, I was actually only running 1.8. I have more work to do than I thought. How depressing.

:(

Its alright!!! 1.8 miles is an accomplishment to be proud off and im sure you can do 2.4 in no time!! Im rooting for ya, just believe in yourself!

Damn those Jelly Belly's :) The secretary at my work has this machine on her desk that dispenses them, and I must admit I have been eating them too lately. I have a bad sugar tooth, especially after lunch or dinner.

Your doing so good with your running. I can't wait until I'm as far as you are in the C25K program.

It reminds me of when I bought a new scale that weighed 8lbs more. It totally bums you out because you realize you have further to go than you expected. Just think of how far you've already come! Now you're extra motivated to kick some car odometer butt!!!!

Aw that stinks about the route being only 1.8 miles. It's always frustrating to think you're doing one thing and later learn that it wasn't quite that much :(. But think about how much of an accomplishment it is anyway! :) You've gone from not running at all to running nearly two miles in just a few weeks! You'll be running that 2.4 miles soon enough!

Today's my momma's 43rd birthday! :)

Yesterday I ran my 28 minutes. Only 2 more days of Week 8!

I almost ran the entire 2.4 miles (correct distance his time! GRR. still mad about that.) in the 28 minutes. That tells me that I am going pretty darn slow! Bah. Oh well... I'm just going to keep pushing myself.

The way I see it is that I have until May 2nd to train for the 5K.

I began the Couch - 5K program at the beginning of January (the 7th) as a total non runner. In just under 2 months, I have gotten to where I can run 28 minutes straight. Not fast, but I can do it.

Judging by that progress I made in 2 months, I am certain that in 2 more months I can train myself to run the entire 3.1 miles at a decent speed. I can almost run 2.4 miles in 28 minutes, so I'm sure that I can reach 3.1 miles in 35 minutes (at the most! - hopefully even faster!) by May 2nd.

I'm trying so hard to be positive about this! :)

Course you can do it! I totally get it about being bummed out that the distance wasn't what you had thought it was - those moving goal posts are one of the worst things!! But for now it just means you have a little more to add on - not heaps - very, very doable for someone so committed.
The funny part is that I had to run 25 minutes, regardless of the speed. So even though I sped up, the 25 minutes weren't going to end any sooner! ... :D
I love this.

Hey...
Happy B-day to your mother!!

I know you can do this!! your doing such a great job at running!
I think thats still good how far you have gotten!!

This sucks!

Today is parent teacher conference day, and the weather is horrible! We are having cancellation after cancellation, and I don't blame them!

But the real reason for this gripe:

Our school feels it is necessary to overindulge on food for everything! "Hey! The plant is looking alive! Let's have a pig out day!, Woo! It's Thursday! Let's eat!" Ugh. I normally avoid these pig out days with no trouble at all. Remember the chocolate fountain at Valentine's Day?! Enough said. Anyway, I have nothing to do right now (well, I could be grading papers), and that is making the avoidance SO much harder! Usually I am busy doing stuff (again, could be grading papers) and that keeps my mind off the food...

Now I am thinking about all the yummy foods I am missing out on! The students are already gone, so I am here in my room lusting after food. I won't cave, but it's going to make for a loooooong afternoon! It's 2:36, and I am stuck here until 6:00! Ack!

Resist the food :) I know you can do it.

If the food cravings are too bad, just take them out on the parents at the PTC, hehe.

Happy Birthday to your momma! She's so young.

-Sam

Yes, she had me at the tender age of 17! :)

I did good with the food. I had like 5 wheat thins, and one tiny peice of the cinnamon danish.

I'm a bit frustrated that I lost no weigh this week. I have been doing an extra bit of snacking, and I haven't "gone" in 3 freakin' days! Time to cut the snacking and up the fiber!
