From alpha testing to the QUERCUS 200

:D I even do that on the elliptical... On the treadmill so far I don´t want to compare but I´m certainly racing myself! That bat is too cute, especially hanging from one leg. Moar bats pleese!

I will be sure to post any new bat pics I get, but that's the first one in almost 7 years so it may be a while.

So everybody knows that I hate numbers and data, but since the rest of you demand it I will submit to your cumulative will.

Pounds lost:
Since all time heavy weight (400): -135.4
WLF join date (12/7/2012): -84.6
1/1/2014: -68.6
Strict calorie counting plus running (10/01/2014): -39.6
1/1/2015: -15.6
from 2014 low: -9.8

So I have lost 51.1% of 333.2-199.0 since 1/1/2014
I have lost 29.5% of that weight since 10/01/2014

If I maintain my loss average that I have kept since October I will be 199 on August 16, 2015.

The date is the same for my progress in January so that means my rate of loss hasn't slowed since October.

So the plan:

Strictly count my calories and keep the run streak going while increasing exertion levels and adding additional work like BW exercises and yoga.

Adjust calories as needed to maintain rate of loss.

At this point I would need 2.624 pounds per week to hit 199 by my 40th birthday so that isn't likely to happen.

My current rate is 2.3 pounds per week which is great. I will be elated if I can maintain that and will do my damnedest to do so, but that doesn't seem likely as I get less and less fat. Even with a substantial slow down I can be done with the loss phase this year. That is the plan.

Awesome plan Q. 2.3lbs per week is amazing at this stage. I love bats. We have some living in our roof we think as occasionally one appears inside our home. They are tiny-
"Little forest bat, Vespadelus vulturnus.
This is the smallest Tasmanian bat. It produces a single young and roosts in tree hollows. The little forest bat has mid to dark grey for on its back and dark grey fur with lighter tips on its belly. Forearm length: 29-30 mm, Body length: 40-50 mm, Weight: 4-4.5 gm."
Being so competitive is one of the reasons I stopped doing Zumba. It didn't matter how many times the instructor said do it at your own pace, I had to do it as well as anyone!

It's weird that it feels like I am making slow progress, but when I do the math it is actually going better than expected. I've been struggling with getting enough calories for a few days as I adapt to a garlic free diet, but I'll figure that out.

That is a little guy. That's less than half the size of the one I saw. Make sure you wear leather gloves if you have to catch them. Even if you don't plan on touching them wear the gloves just in case. A bite or scratch and you'd have to have the rabies shots and those suck.

I can't do the P90x videos or high level classes because they're really high intensity and my mindset is always that I'm not really doing it if I don't do it like the instructor. Running has no instructor and i can only run as hard as I can and I learned the hard way not to do that much.

As you can tell by how much I've posted I haven't been productive today. It's because I've been told that I will be involved in a large complex project out of state in a isolated area in a semi-arid environment. I don't want to live out of a hotel indefinitely in a place far from home with no food options for me. Away from my wife and our home. There is a lot in flux right now so I cling to what I can control and run and eat right no matter what.

Day 64
5K
32:47

I was worried that if i pushed my asthma would be a problem as my throat was swollen. Ran a modest pace that picked up a bit as my lungs felt better and finished with 1 sprinted lap (1/8th mile).

It made me feel a bit better.

Incredible rate! And it must be encouraging to know the end really is in sight.

:( being externally controlled sucks. But if you can do what you´re doing despite all that you can do it for life.

Yay for healthy bodies and exercise. Always nice when things that are supposed to be healthy actually help ;)

2.3 is actually amazing after already dropping so much weight. You've done so well ^_^ Sucks about the possible move..Bet it's making you worry :( when will you know more? xo

I know how you feel about being away from your family and home.
I spent 5 years in the Middle East working in Personal Security Protection. The money was good but it wasn't worth it in the end. It is costing me my marriage.

Thanks LaMa! I'm doing this. There is no trying anymore and that's great, but I don't want my job making it a lot harder.

Thanks Hana! It isn't a move it's just being stuck in a hotel for who knows how long far from home. We have a meting next week.

GGH that really stinks. This doesn't pay well and I'm salaried so I won't make a dime on being stuck out there. I'm looking at my options. I'll walk away if I have to. It could be a circumstance that I could come home on weekends, but I doubt it as it would mean only working 3 days in the field and driving 2 every week. Maybe they will do a 10 on 4 off, but I wouldn't be surprised if they just stuck us out there as this has happened before.

264.6 again this morning which makes me happy. With a huge drop I always worry that it's a fluke. I'll be happy to stay here for a little bit rather than rebound.

The temperature dropped about 30 degrees from sundown to this morning. It's in the low 40s now and it is supposed to make it to 29 for the low Sunday. I'm happy as I'm not ready for warm temperatures.

Oh Q, I really hope you don't have to work away from home. As it is, you seem to have to go away for a night here & a night there & that would be more than enough. I'll keep my fingers crossed that they change their minds! You are doing so well sticking to eating well, not drinking & exercising. So happy to see you have had yet another drop in weight. You deserve it! Toes crossed as well re the job, xo Cate

Thanks Cate! It seems pretty certain now.

Day 65
1.25 miles
13:02
Easy run. I've decided to raise my minimum distance from 1 mile to 1.25 unless it's a fast mile.

Awesome drop! Seems like you had a nice big 'woosh'! I hope that your work works out in your favor!
Not ready for warm temps?! I'm praying for them! We've been lucky with out weather this winter but it's heading down to -22 tomorrow morning with the windchill!

That really is an awesome drop. How´s the hip doing? Hope you´ll find/get offered a liveable solution for that project, how long are we talking about here?

Thanks Mystic! I've lost 2.3 pounds a week since October, but I had quite a rebound with the holiday stuff so January has been 280.2 to 264.6 which is quite a woosh (15.6 pounds). If I could keep that up I'd be done in no time. I'll be stoked if I can keep the 2.3 average.

I'd be wishing for warmer temps if it was as cold as where you are for sure. Milder winters generally means more moquitoes, wasps, ticks, and chiggers for the Spring, Summer, and Fall here. It's supposed to be -2C here on Sunday. It has hit -7C this winter. But we also always have plenty of weather at 40C and occasionally past 45C in summer and that's not a lot of fun either.

Thanks LaMa! The hip is doing very well. Just the slightist twinge the last few days. Nobody seems to know LaMa. For sure it is on the scale of multiple months of fieldwork. It's in a remote place north of the Chihuahuan desert in Mexico and south of New Mexico. A lot of the drug trafficing from Mexico into the US happens out there.

264.6 again today. Odd, but fine with me.

Day 66
2.2 miles
30 minutes
An easy road run. I haven't done many in a while because winter, but that was the same time/distance as early this winter when I had to bust ass to get it. I just sped up a tiny bit to make the 2.2 during the last 3 minutes. Not fast, just not as lazy a pace as the rest. I'm happy to be getting less shitty at running.

Back pats:
I'm the best runner I've ever been.
I'm the healthiest I've ever been. I know my back is injured, but my level of fitness and health aside from the back exceed anything before my injury.
I'm the lightest I'e every been without horrible prescription drugs (killed people/pulled of the market).
Smallest clothes since childhood too.

Okay my arm is getting tired and my back is a bit sore.

Dear Work,

Kiss my ass. I'm going to run this no matter what you throw at me. You need to check your BS though or you aren't going to have me to abuse much longer. As in tick tock tick tock, que final Jeopardy music, what's it going to be? My wife makes more money than me because you suck at taking care of your people. In short you need me. You are a convenience to me, well you were any way.

Sincerely,
Quercus

Okay my arm is getting tired and my back is a bit sore.

Do I want to ask about the arm ;) ? Really glad your hip is behaving again, but that fieldwork area does not sound like a happy place to roam around for a couple of months.
Please install a camera in your boss´ office and then send that message! Joking aside: it sounds like you have options beside taking whatever the job throws at you and that´s a real bonus these days (even though it should be normal).

263.4 this morning for a new low, but I've been stress eating all day so I likely blew that.

Day 67
1.25 miles
Slow recovery run to take a break and break in the new shoes. I found my exact shoes marked down as they are now the old model.

I ran a little bit with one old shoe and one new to test them. The old ones are definitely worn, but I think they still have some miles left in them. I will need to figure up how many miles I have on them and see if I can tell a difference as I switch back and forth.
