We have been buying organic blue corn tortilla chips in huge bags. they are 24 ounces for $2.99. Now I knew they weren't good for me, but I didn't realize how bad the calorie load was. I weighed out a 140 calorie serving today. 8.5 chips! Fuuuuu.. I've been eating a lot of calories in those stupid things. I haven't eaten any since I started counting the calories, but before I was munching on them while dinner cooked or after dinner when I got hungry. I also liked to have them with hummus. When I wasn't trying at all I would sometimes eat a container of hummus on these chips. Assuming no extra chips eaten (never happened) and assuming a half tablespoon per chip (that's a lot of hummus per chip), the calorie total is about 3,400 calories or 1,100 more than my current daily max calories.
Obviously I wasn't doing that bad all of the time as I lost 29 pounds this year before I started to strictly count my calories, but that explains why I have lost 10.4 pounds in 11 days since I've measured everything I've ate or drank.
My other major evening snack was peanuts and other nut which range from 160-200 calories per ounce or about the size of a ping pong ball.
