From alpha testing to the QUERCUS 200

Thanks Cate! It's a lot closer this morning!

Thank you very much Vee! My first reaction was that it would be really hard for me to do. Then I thought of course it would be hard you weigh more than a hundred pounds more than V. I'm nearly back there on a flat track at 5.4 MPH on an all out run. That's only because it's been my primary focus for about a year now.

284.4 this morning. A 2.2 pound or Kilo drop in one day! I know it may not stick but it's a great new low at least. I ate 1,810 calories yesterday. I was really hungry last night and I ate a pb foldover and some low fat baked fries. I went back to my reloading bench with 490 cals left and the intention to eat in a little while. I lost track of time and my wife comes back to say we should get to bed. Since I wasn't hungry and didn't want to eat right before laying down I came up short. I don't know if it's necessarily bad if I'm not hungry. I packed a bit more snacks today so I don't have >1,000 left for dinner.

Pouring rain today so I woke up early and did 40 minutes of yoga. I packed the gym bag on case I feel like a run tonight. I'm guessing I'll be rained out from the field today.

New low! You superstar :) I had whole pasta yesterday and it was insanely filling compared to the normal pasta I have. Doesn't taste as good though but who cares if it helps me lose weight! Well done hon xx

Congrats on the drop! Being low in calories for a single day in between probably doesn´t matter, especially if you pack extra snacks for the next day. Not being hungry at night sounds good!

Thanks Hanna!

Thanks Clarissa! I did the 40 minute beginners video this morning. Good stuff!

Thanks LaMa! I've had 3 days in a row below calories and yesterday was pretty low. I just don't need to keep it lower than necessary, but if I don't feel deprived I am probably getting sufficient nutrition. Not hungry at night (or any time) is new to me. Weird!

As far as I know how hungry you get is mostly habit, but it is very nice not to be hungry! O well, you´re an intelligent guy with more than a decent working knowledge of biology so as not-a-dietician I´m going to assume you can and will look after yourself :) It helps that you eat healthy stuff and get the necessary nutrients in larger doses than many other people.

Not being hungry is a huge bonus! Lucky you! I need to work out what's best to eat for me when I play golf as usually I could just eat anything in sight afterwards! :( You are doing so well Q!

Thanks Hanna!

That's a hard struggle for me - knowing I should eat more (for nutritional purposes and to obtain energy of course) but not feeling hungry. I remember the first few times it happened I had a hard time deciding what to do - do I eat more even though I'm not hungry or do I finish off the day without eating anything else even though I know I should eat at least a little something?

I battled with myself a few times with that until I realized something - as long as I don't starve myself and as long as I don't eat food for a bad reason, then I'm doing the right thing. Meaning, whether I do eat more even though I'm not hungry (for nutritional purposes of course) or don't eat more even though I probably should, I'm making the right choice. Being under calories is GREAT. As long as you're not eating only 800 calories a day or something ridiculous like that, I wouldn't feel bad if you ever decide to not eat even though you have 'spare' calories yet to consume.

It is a weird feeling though - not being hungry. But, that's a GOOD sign. It means your stomach has gotten smaller. It also means you've taught yourself to not overeat or act on impulse.

Good for you, Quercy.

Thanks LaMa! If only I had consistently applied my knowledge I would have been thin long ago.

Thank you Cate! There are certain activities that always leave me hungry like swimming and sleeping outdoors. I've never played golf so I can't speak for that, but planning my meals and bringing food helps me from making bad decisions when I'm ravenous.

Chef very insightful and much appreciated. 2,300 is a caloric deficit that is a good level for healthy weightloss. I don't want to stray too far from that too often. The two "too"s are what I have to figure out. I certainly feel like my impulse control has improved. That is to say that I feel like I now posses impulse control.

284.4 again makes me happy. I kind of expected a rebound for no reason other than it was a huge drop. Less of a fluke now for sure. 2,300 calories yesterday. I did a little extra snacking early and late. I wanted to see if I felt better/worse overfull or whatever compared to the last few days of lower calories. The only difference I noticed was that I was less hungry before dinner than usual. Otherwise it didn't feel different.

AM Run
2.2 miles
30:39

Very wet morning as it has been raining steady for more than a day before. I felt rather sluggish the first half of the run, but I finished strong and feel really good now.

We are getting the routine down and I had time to read, eat breakfast (usually done at work or on the way) and shoot my first round of a new 44 magnum load that I am developing.

Ammo reloading junk: It hit the target and worked well. More power than I expected from a starting load, but after just the one round there is signs of leading in the barrel. This load may not be any good. It's possible that a heavier load could force more obturation (expansion of the bullet inside the gun) and make less leading, but more than likely if it leads at the starting load then more powder will equal more leading. Leading makes accuracy fall off quickly and may cause inaccuracy in the initial round too. This is bad as I have 500 rounds of this bullet as I was hopeful that it would perform well. There is a chance that the listed starting load is hotter than expected. I will load some more rounds and shoot them through my chronograph. If the bullets are traveling faster than expected I can step down the load and check again for loading and speed. Otherwise the load will have to be loaded light to prevent leading and used for target practice rather than hunting.

Hey Q, maybe I misread your plans (72 pages of posts, I'm a little behind!), but I thought you were vegan? Or are you mostly vegan with the occasional delicious meat? Anyway, good luck sorting the rounds out, I miss shooting - I used to be on my HS riflery team, and always grab the chance to fire something. I have a friend who loves to mod his firearms to look scary, I keep threatening to show up - his response is always "You pay the range fee, I'll buy the ammo."

My back yard is my range LJ.

So the diet:

I eat a vegan diet most of the time. I eat wild game and fish whenever I want. I also eat any meat if I feel the need/desire, but this is almost never. I eat vegan 98 meals out of 100 or better. Once I adapted to eating vegan I rarely want meat. I'll have a temporary increase in meat eating since I am making a lot of the venison/feral hog summer sausage (13.5 pounds), but I'll probably share and freeze a lot of that (If it's good). I would likely eat a 99.9-100% vegan diet if I didn't like hunting and fishing so much. It usually doesn't settle very well and makes me feel sluggish. I ate a small piece of Czech sausage about a month ago and that's why I have changed my regular summer sausage recipe up. Before that I ate some store bought meat while I was laid up with my knee infection and way off my diet. I'll also eat meat at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I eat vegan food because the way we do it is very healthy, low calorie, and high satiation. The quality of store bought meat and dairy is unacceptable on the whole to me. I feel better and lose weight when I eat vegan. I eat meat at a quantity/frequency that doesn't effect these results. I try to stay with humanely and sustainably harvested wild meats to keep my meat consumption as healthy as possible. I also process all of the meat personally so that I know how it is handled and what goes in it.

I had to go out in the field early today so no AM run. I have my things to run at the gym, but I'm pretty tired. We'll see. I want to run.

284.0 this morning. 49.2 pounds for the year. 20.2 since Oct. 1. I'll be hunting this weekend, but I'll try to catch up.

Happy Friday people!

Cate being that you are from the future I've decided to tell you if I get a deer on Saturday. So did I?

Run
30:33
2.6 miles
153 BPM Avg HR

This was an indoor track run. I was really tired for this and almost didn't go. I'm glad I did, but now I'm ready for bed and it's not 9PM yet.

2,200 calories for the day.

Thanks Jade! It's good to see you around.

Well Cate he must be running late. Hopefully I don't miss him while I'm playing in my phone.

So at 4:30AM I weighed in at 282.4. That makes for 50.8 pounds lost this year. That's a pleasing milestone. Now on to the 270s.

Congrats on the milestone, Q!!! Proud of you.
