From alpha testing to the QUERCUS 200

Thanks BlueBean! That made my day!

LaMa, I've not gotten over it yet apparently. My stomach doesn't know what to do.

So 287.8 this morning for my official weigh in. -1 pound for the week, -16.4 for October, -45.4 for the year.

So it's slowed, but I am in the midst of some stomach problems so that may affect the scale. I also ate a lot of processed food this past week. I didn't go over calories, but I think eating less healthy has slowed the weightloss and fouled up my stomach. Cooking tomorrow and starting the AM exercise Monday. My goal is to be on the high side of healthy weightloss. There is no reason I can't have 2 lb/wk loss for a long while. I may just have to work harder to get it.

Went hunting this morning and saw 0 deer. I'll be back at it in the morning.

Processed food and not counting exactly can certainly make a difference. I can see you want to lose 2 pounds a week for as long as you can but on the other hand you´ve been doing it for quite a while now. O, well, as long as you give your body enough nutrition and enough time to recuperate from exercise it´ll be ok. Hope your insides get well soon!

A 1lb loss in a week is still really good and 16.4 for the month is outstanding. Like you said no reason it cannot be 2lbs this coming week.

Being out in the woods with an angry tummy sounds pretty awful... I hope it's being nice to you today!

Yay well done on the weight loss! And glad to hear my comment made you happy - you should be so proud of how far you have come, I really enjoyed reading your journey. Thank you for sharing, and continuing to share your story.

16.4lb is amazing work for the month! How awesome is that!? If it helps, my PT suggests 1kg (2.2lb?) per week for healthy weightloss. Or should I say, up to 1kg. Anything more than that is a bonus, anything less than that is still really awesome. It doesn't matter if you lose 100 grams, or 2 kgs in the week - you're being active, making better choices, and (hopefully) feeling amazing for it. Every weight loss is an achievement, and should be celebrated.

Sorry to hear your stomach wasn't feeling so great, hopefully you feel better soon. It's amazing how processed foods can make you feel.

Wonder if the processed foods gave you higher sodium, contributing to the slowdown by way of water gain? Just thinking, with my brain, which kind of works.

Lama, the stomach is all better. I haven't been estimating except when unavoidable. When I say "about" or less than on here it's because I'm too lazy to go get my phone or scrap of paper. I weigh most of my cooked meals and snack to get the calories right. I will certainly try to get enough nutrition and rest. A slow scale and healthier me is much better than a fast scale and losing muscle and getting sick all the time. I've done that too many times before. I don't want that as it doesn't work.

Hanna, Q 0 Deer 2 I'll get one eventually.

Thanks Serge! I'm good with 1-2 pounds a week. It just doesn't mean I won't [safely] push for more.

Oaks I had a bit of a close call getting out of the woods. I managed to waddle back to my parent's house (I hunt on their land) only to realize that there were a lot of layers of clothes between me and relief. Fortunately I made it and have been well since.

Thank you Jen!

Thanks BlueBean! I guess I've been a bit ungrateful for how well it's gone. I usually read that 1-2 pounds is healthy, but you guys with your non-crazy measurement system get an extra .2 lb ;). 1-2 pounds and all is well. 2 lb means less than a year to go until maintenance, but 1 is less than 2 years. The when it happens isn't as important as that it's happening at all. I'm locked in and I'm never going back to my old habits of apathy, sloth, and gluttony so it will happen when it happens.

287.8 this morning.

Barely in the aerobic zone. Just a very easy run to adjust to running first thing in the morning. I haven't been over 2,300 calories since I've started counting them at the early October. 12/31/14 will make a year of no alcohol. The scale has slowed, but that's temporary. Even with the slow down it's 1-2 pounds a week now which is where it needs to be.

I'm rather shocked that I can now run a half hour and barely be in the aerobic zone. At 349 my resting heart rate was in the 1teens. Now I can run a couple of miles and not be much over that. This means I have to push harder to burn the calories, but that's great news. My initial runs of 1.7 and 1.8 miles that maxed out my aerobic zone wouldn't even get me into it these days. Yeah!

Okay I'll stop bragging on myself. Thanks so much for your support. Each of you is a big reason that this is happening!

LJ it seems a likely scenario. I have home cooked whole foods for today so we will see if that makes a difference.

I cooked purple hull peas on my woodstove last night and my wife made a tofu and veggie mix with some great Mexican spices (cumin, ancho, cinnamon). Even if it doesn't speed up the weightloss it's much better and better for me than the processed stuff.

Cooking on the woodstove is great. You don't use any extra energy or lose any heat. Eating the hot food warms you and then you let it cool to room temp so all of the captured heat goes into the house and it helps keep it from being too dry with the fire burning. It got down to near freezing Saturday and Sunday and I've been cold when it was warmer. With our cooktop stove a raging fire is a rapid boil. If you put a pot on while it's blazing the water starts to boil as the fire is settled down and it's easy to keep a slow rolling boil on the center and a simmer at the edge. I think a deer chili will be in order once I get one.

It's very impressive what you have done with the cardio.

The pizza crust recipe:

50 grams wholegrain maiz flour
50 grams buckwheat flour
1 teaspoon xanthan gum
pinch of salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 decilitre Water

Mix the dry stuff, mix in the Water. Pat the dough down on greaseproof paper with a wet palm. Bake in oven on 200 degrees celsius approx 15 minutes. Put stuff on the pizza and bake until finish

Hi Q,

it takes such great courage to post your journey. It is truly inspiring nd motivating; one of the key ingredient for me was making sure my mind was also changing along with my body. Its amazing how powerful your mind can be. Stay positive and block all negatives! Give us an update!:hurray::willy_nilly:

We have leftovers LaMa if you care to stop by ;). It's only about 10,000 kilometers.

Clarissa maiz flour is apparently what we call corn starch. That's assuming it's the white powder made of corn not the coarse ground yellow stuff that we call cornmeal. We may have to substitute a different flour instead of buckwheat for something we have available (rural area).

I'm your first post LetsLooZeit! Thanks and welcome to the forum! I'm trying my best to stay positive.

Your waddling story reminds me of a run I had to cut short once. After my waddle up the stairs I came as close as I ever will to a triathlon transition area... It sure felt like I was being timed while trying to pry off a wetsuit.

It is not corn starch, it's the entire corn grain grounded to a flour with all of its protein and fibres too. You could probably use wholegrain rice flour, millet flour, gram flour or any other gluten free flour, which is not just a starch, as well. Or buckwheat flour as the only flour.

EDIT: I found this webpage which says that you can grind corn meal into Wholegrain maiz flour.

Another "waddling" story that luckily didn't happen to me - a friend was out riding his bike after eating some expired Gu. He was a good 15-20 miles from home when "the grumble" happened, and he had to call his wife to come pick him up, load his bike into their little Scion and get back just in time. He rode shotgun with the seat fully reclined.

I love that this forum includes this sort of sharing....

I'm happy my poop story could entertain. Oaks thanks for the "been there almost did that" story. LJ "riding shotgun" had a whole new meaning.

Clarissa thanks for the correction and the link. I happen to have a bag at the house. It's called Masa Harina which is listed as another name for corn flour in your link. I use it to make yummy homemade corn tortillas. It will likely be masa harina and whole rice flour as I have both of those on hand. It will have to wait for me to hunt down xanthum gum. I'm pretty sure one of the grocery stores will have it. I just have to wait until we buy groceries.

So today

286.6 New low and 1.2 pounds for November and 46.6 for the year.

I really believe that whole foods are as important to my weightloss as the number of calories. I ate a a bit low yesterday at 2,100. This wasn't on purpose, but I had 3 vegan whole food meals and 2 pieces of fruit yesterday and didn't want any more.

I struggled this morning. I started off pretty fast, but my stomach started to growl and I hit a wall and really slowed down towards the end. I need to eat a little of my breakfast pre-run. Running fasted after a low calorie day stunk. Waking up was easier this morning and I am feeling good now.

I hope to hit the -50 mark in the next couple weeks. Then it will be on to class 1 obesity (280). Then on to 10% lost since starting to count calories (276). Then to a new adult low without prescription drugs (274.9). From there on to all time adult low (<250). Maybe around the 250 mark I will start trying to work towards pull ups/chin ups. Maybe sooner.

286.6? Outstanding work, Q.

I did a little light jogging yesterday just to save time getting from point A to pint B. I'm thinking I'm at a point where a pace of roughly 5.5 MPH is something I could sustain for quite a while. My guess is that sort of pace would have me quit because of my ankles before my lungs would make me stop. Being able to jog without getting winded within a minute is a nice feeling, isn't it.

Keep up the outstanding work, you're doing really fantastic.
