From alpha testing to the QUERCUS 200

As you get into longer distances you may want to incorporate short walk breaks into them, but I know you don't like those (you'd rather let a bug bite you than stop to get it off). I used to walk whenever I wanted, now I don't unless I'm lost and need to look at my phone. But it's supposed to make for easier recovery so if you start dealing with pains the day after a long run at least *consider* adding in a little bit of walking. You don't have to do it, but just consider it :)

Knee feels good LaMa!

No promises Oaks, but I'll keep it in mind.

Went a mile and a quarter because I was so hungry not because of my knee. It's a tiny bit more anyway and probably a good idea to ease into things. No surprise to anyone that's noticed me not losing weight, but the food log says I've been a pig. I'm good at 2,000 cals for the day, but I felt pretty low when I was running and I'll be going to bed hungry tonight. I'll adapt quickly. The good news is the weight should come down quickly, but that means a heck of a lot of miles too. Lets do it!

I wasn't a fan of the walk breaks either as I always considered taking a walk break as a cheat since the goal was to "run" a certain distance but after giving it a shot and noticing the difference it made on recovery and injury prevention I became a convert.
Good luck with the meal clean up and the increasing distance.

So obviously a lot of support for walk breaks. There's probably a good reason for that.

So 2,365 calories yesterday because I was just too hungry last night and ate more.

254.2 this morning which is down 1.8. Low salt is the norm for my diet when I don't hit the chips and/or nuts. That no doubt helped my weigh in.

I think anything under 2500 is reasonable for guys our size. Between the exercise and your activity level you're probably good for 3000+ easy to be burned on any given day.
Congrats on the 1.8 loss.

Hi Q,

I know what you mean. I used to take it as an insult if I walked during my run. I had it in my mind that I was giving up if I walked. It took me some time to get past that and realized it wasn't cheating- it was letting my body get a rest and recover a little so I could go faster and longer. There are a lot of books out there about this but one I found interesting was a guy that wrote a book about running until you are 100. He suggests walk breaks as they will prolong your running into the greyer yearsl. I say that because I am pretty grey-haha.

Good job on the 1.8 lbs. You will be there before you know it.

Thanks K&D! I agree, but 2,000 is a good target to try for so when I miss a little it's okay.

I'll give it consideration Cowboy. I have a little grey on the head, but the beard is solid grey from ears to goatee.

Thanks Cate!

I'm not getting too excited about the 1.8 as it could go up just as much tomorrow.

2 miles on the road tonight for day 433 and I'm under 2,000 and considering my snack options.

Well! When I started getting control of myself I could hardly walk for joint pain let alone run, so walking is all I can do. It used to be just to the end of
our close, then to the oak tree a bit further on now I'm up to doing 3 miles.

Don't talk to me about grey hair Q I used to be auburn and everyone used to say to my mum 'Hasn't she got beautiful hair and peaches and cream skin too' Now I'm not just grey but white and having to attack the wrinkles a little bit more each year.

I started out the same way Polly because of back troubles. We've come a long way.

So 252.2 this morning which is -2 pounds since yesterday and -3.8 in two days. At this rate it will be tough or impossible to hit my run goal this weekend. What a great problem to have. I finished just a tiny bit under 2,000 calories yesterday and slept like a log.

You missed an opportunity there Chef to do that she Kah go accent.

252.4 yesterday and 1 mile run after a day in the woods.

250.8 this morning which makes me very happy, but I'm pretty sure I can't run 9 miles this weekend or at least shouldn't. I'll take -5.2 pounds in 4 days though!

Happy Friday WLF!

Q is on fire! Well done :D
