Frogged's Lily Pad

Thank you my lovely ladies :)

I'm feeling a bit better today, but my eating has been crap. I'm hovering around the 190's again, and I didn't do any exercise as of typing this. I plan to do some later tonight when it gets darker tho.

I wish there were harsher punishment for drunk drivers because it does kill. I am just so sorry for the loss. and I'm sorry for all you are going through this week.

I hope you have many many great weeks to come to compensate for the shitty one you are having this week. Keep your head held high!

Hi Jessica :)

Thanks for the encouragement. I've had bad weeks/months before, but this one is just pretty hindering. I'm still holding my head up and I'm looking forward to my treadmill being fixed (it's under warranty). The parts and technician should be here sometime in the next few days, so that's a positive.

I don't believe I've seen you post here before, but I'll be sure to check out your own diary (if you have one) :)

Thanks again and hope you're well!

Hopefully the drunk driver that killed her, will NOT just receive a slap on the wrist, but harsh punishment, as he or she should.
I couldn't agree more with this statement. Next week has to be better!

Yes, very young :( It's also the same age my mother was when cancer took her life :(

I'm nearing that age myself. I'm not sure how I'll feel when I officially turn the same age my mother was when she died. I've read it's hard for some kids who have lost their parents to reach the same age.

I just don't know. It's going to be a difficult birthday to celebrate I think.

The person who killed here was 27. The accident actually involved 3 cars, it's just Angela was the only fatality :( She wasn't wearing her seat belt and died on the scene.

Here's one of the links I found on the accident: http://www.eveningsun.com/news/ci_21548073/crash-closes-route-30-western-adams

I hope this kid never gets his license back.

I know we don't really know each other, but honestly, if you need anything I'm here for you!

Thanks squish, I appreciate that :)

Some of my dopey friends think they actually drive better drunk.. pfft. It's scary because I know a few of them who have driven while very intoxicated in the past.

As soon as a drop of alcohol even goes near my lips, I cut myself off from any notion of getting behind the wheel. It's just stupid to do.

Anyway, thanks for the kind words and I hope you're good as well :)

O no Greg, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. That's awful! It's a really common thing too which makes it so much worse. Wish people would just grow up and be more responsible so things like this can be avoided.

Weight loss wise, it's good to see you're still trying even though the treadmill packed it in!! It shows you aren't giving up just yet.

Hope you feel better soon!

Hi Lucy :)

Still doing the best I can! Not having the treadmill is always difficult as it completely throws off my rhythm :( The terrain in my backyard is sometimes difficult to navigate, especially in the dark.

Eh, well still feeling a bit down. Had a very sad moment occur earlier today when I was starting out on my route. I pass by Angela's salon on the way to my first stop, and there were flowers all over the front of the entrance.

When I completed my route and was driving back to the office, I saw even more flowers and a few people sitting in front of the building. After I finished up, I went by a little flower shop and bought a colorful flower bouquet (I was told she loved bright colors). I then stopped by and saw 2 people sitting there in tears. I talked to them a little bit and offered my sympathies :( The one girl was absolutely devastated. Even though I didn't know Angela to the same extent she did, I left before I started falling apart as I get pretty emotional at times.. especially when seeing how heart broken this person was. I couldn't think of anything to say other than I was sorry :(

She touched a lot of lives obviously, as I saw another post by a friend of hers on Facebook with a link to an obituary that included a guest book for friends to make comments and offer condolences. Such a tragedy :(

At any rate, just need to keep on moving forward.

Thanks again for stopping by, Lucy! Another thing I need to do is catch up on diaries. Work has me pretty tied up with it being 'Mail Count' for the next 12 days. Basically, it's the post office's way of determining how much they're going to pay (or not pay) us for our routes. They count and record every piece of mail, and also time us for everything (even bathroom breaks.. we get 5min, lol).

It's very stressful as everyone wants to do well so we get paid more, but there's also the idea that floats around in our minds that the higher ups are purposely holding back mail from us in order to make our count lighter, thus allowing them to cut our pay and save themselves money.

We mail carriers are a very paranoid bunch :) Although sometimes I wonder..

That was so generous and thoughtful of you to stop by with flowers and be there for the girl who was there, even if you didn't know what to say. I'm sure the fact that you brought flowers said enough. I hope you are doing better, though! Mail count sounds terrible! They better not be taking advantage of you guys by holding back mail!

At any rate, I hope that this coming week will be a little easier for a lot of people since it seems like the past few weeks have been hard for many. Sending happy thoughts your way!

Oh Greg.. I'm terribly sorry to hear about your loss. :( What a horrible tragedy.. always pisses me off so much that drunk drivers, the one causing the problems in the first place, always seem to survive with barely a scratch, while wreaking havok and misery around them. That's a harsh way to see it, perhaps, but if you get behind the wheel when you are knowingly drunk, then if someone has to pay with their life, it should be you, not the goddamn innocent bystander. Makes me so sick and angry. I don't think twice about hiding car keys from my drunk friends.. I don't give a shit if they have to pay for a taxi, better than someone else paying with their life. Lucky for me, most of them wouldn't even consider it, since, you know, they're not absolute retards.

Anyway.. As expected from you, that was extremely considerate and no doubt the gesture meant a lot to her family.. even though she was coldly and cruelly taken away, at least they know that she was so fondly thought of by so many people, and the lives she touched and influenced.

Sorry to hear about the treadmill as well.. 3 months is pretty rubbish! I trust it's still under warranty and you can get it all sorted out? That's truly crappy, you'd expect more, especially considering how long your previous one lasted!

And as for the weight loss.. as ever, I know you'll get back on the horse, even if it's bucking and throwing you curveballs right now! Hang onto that saddle, cowboy! x

I didn't get a chance to really get to know her, but I could tell she was a good person within the first few minutes of us meeting (I feel I have a gift for that). I was about to send her a request on facebook to be friends, just so I might have a way of communicating my desire for a haircut aside from just walking in and asking if she was available for a trim :)

Work is still a bit stressful, but there's only one week left of this count. Then, hopefully, either my pay will increase and I'll also be able to relax a bit
smile.gif
We'll see!

I appreciate the happy thoughts, squish! You're so sweet  Thanks for the kind words!

Hey Sarah
smile.gif

Yeah, she was taken way too early :) Some people need to learn to be responsible when they drink. If even a drop of alcohol touches my lips, I avoid the wheel. It's a risk not worth taking at all. I'll sleep at a friend's house if I have to.

Hopefully this guy (he's 27) never gets his license back

Oh, and my treadmill is back up and running
smile.gif
Finally got it fixed and, yes, it's under a 3 year warranty. This model is not quite as 'industrial' as my last one (it only cost half the price), but I figured since I weigh so much less now, that it would handle my exercise sufficiently.

Turns out that the motor wasn't the issue, it was just some busted screw. So, the technician repaired the screw, installed the new motor, and let me keep the old one (since it was still functional) and now I'm back in the game :hurray:

So glad to see you updating, Sarah!! Don't be such a stranger, yah?

Happy to announce that I have finally hit my 200lb mark this week! Weighed in at 176.8lb this morning

I'll tell ya, this 9-month plateau has been quite the struggle, but the main point I convey to anyone and everyone is to just keep headstrong, don't stop, and you will get there!
smile.gif

Hmmm, now to honor some promises I had.. one being the videos - uh oh! lol :p

I'll dust them off, edit, and upload them when I get the chance. Stay tuned, and I'll give fair warning before I share as I don't want to traumatize anyone! ;) haha

I have to say finding this thread really is great for me. Checking out your website, Frogged, amazingly your start weight is virtually identical to mine (within a pound or two) and seeing that you've actually made it is great to see. I've been doing great so far, but I'm only three months in and I did wonder if what I was attempting was actually possible.

Apparently it is. At my height and build, your current weight is a perfectly healthy weight for me (indeed if I add a reasonable amount of muscle it may even be a touch low for me). So knowing that getting from the 370s down to 180 is actually possible is of great benefit to me.

Thanks again and congrats on the success and condolences for the loss of your friend.

A:hurray::hurray::hurray::hurray:

YAY!!!!! I'm so happy for you!!! That is just awesome! Congratulations, Greg!!! :)

Bring on the videos!!!! lol!

AMAZING!! Congratulations!!!!! I was wondering how you've been the past few weeks, and I'm so happy to see you reaching such a tremendous goal! You are such an inspiration to us all! I'm DEFINITELY looking forward to those videos! So happy for you!!!! :hurray:

Wow, thank you so much, my dear ladies! =)

Haha, of course I had celebrated a little bit and consumed a few too many calories.. doh :p Dancing around the low 180's at the moment, but nothing that won't come off before the next weigh-in
smile.gif

Now that I've reached one of the main milestones I've had in place for the longest time, I suppose my next step is to aggressively pursue my contour surgery. I have an appointment next week to consult with my doc, then see what my insurance may cover, then onward from there!

Started in August 2009, so a little over 3 years (or 165 weeks). I was bouncing around quite a bit for the majority of this year. I was actually only about 1.5lb away from hitting this 200lb mark in January of this year, but a few bad calorie days combined with an obnoxious plateau left me in a bit of a funk for about 9 months. I never stopped though, and that's the key!

Thanks Mr. Vee!

Oh, it's certainly possible. You just have to think of it as a lifestyle and not a diet. Make it your new routine and it becomes quite natural after a while. I can't really recall (or fathom) how I used to live. It wasn't really living at all - just existing in a state of despair. Not fun :\

Thank you for the kind words and best of luck in your own journey!

Ohhh.. I have several. I even take my shirt sorta off in one.. oy. It's not HD (thank god), but still - not pretty. Although I suppose I can share as I have nothing to really hide or that I'm ashamed of. It's all in the past and if it can help/inspire someone, then I'm all for it!

Stay tuned. Work is beginning to bog me down as the holidays approach.. LOTS of junk mail advertisements and packages. Already began to see Christmas catalogs in September, now it's a mixture of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Erm... drowning in junk mail!

It makes for long (exhausting) days, plus keeping up with the hour+ each day on the treadmill, I'm kinda just zoning out for the most part in the evenings.

I promise to get the videos sorted and uploaded in due time though!

Everyone can hit their goals as long as they stay committed, especially when it gets tough and would be so easy to quit. I fought that feeling off and on a few times during the last few months, but your health is top priority over any other issue you have in life.

Without your health, what else have you got?

Hi Squish!

Thanks!! I definitely knew I would hit that goal before the year was out
smile.gif
I'm gonna do my best to reach 165 now before 2013, but it may be a close one!

I know I have probably 8-10lb of loose skin, so I may be (technically) there already! I just need to get it removed and heal up
smile.gif

A friend of mine went through contour surgery (she had a few kids and wanted to fix some issues), and she said the recovery time is close to 4 months.. and it's psychologically draining. She warned me that you'll actually feel worse than ever due to the bloating and issues associated with major surgery.

Hmm, so we'll see.

Yes, I'll get the videos together asap
smile.gif
I have about a dozen or so.. some dated just 1 month after I started in Aug 2009. Basically, it's just me waltzing around in my old room pulling my clothes tight so you can get an idea of my body.

At any rate, I'll probably put them on my YouTube account and I'll post links when they're ready.

Thanks again for the lovely comments, everyone! Hope everyone is doing well!
smile.gif

I don't know much about contour surgery but I'm familiar with long recovery times and they definitely can be tough psychologically, but then again recovery is different for everyone. Just gotta stay positive, know that with time you'll heal up good as new, and look to family and friends who support you and can surround you with love. :beating:

Looking forward to the videos! You've come so far, it will be inspiring for us to see what a transformation you've made!

Just popping in mega fast, and found this amazing update!

CONGRATULATIONS!

NOW HONOUR THOSE PROMISES!!!! :pP

Edit: PS, haha, also grats on passing the 1000 post mark! BIG DAYS GREG, BIG DAYS! :coolgleama:

Yeah, and I feel I'm pretty prepared for it (hopefully).

Staying positive! hehe

Thank you

Oh yeah, 1k posts as well? I'm hitting quite a few milestones lately it seems, hah

I will honor those promises of course, but I'm just bogged down with some things lately.

I've bounced up a little over a pound this last weigh-in, due in part to a little bit of celebration for hitting my 200lb mark (figures I'd celebrate by eating! /facepalm), then my cousin also had a birthday on Saturday (the day right before my weigh-in), so had a bit more chips and cake than I normally do.

I tried to make up for it by adding an additional 2 miles to my daily routine (for a total of just over 7), but alas.. hrmpf. I suppose it could've been worse (this is me staying positive btw), hehe

I'll be back in the green again this coming Sunday. My doc appointment is tomorrow, so we'll see how that goes
smile.gif

Need to catch up on diaries and other things. Sending hoppy vibes to all!

Well I'm officially the lowest weight I've ever been in recent memory!

Down 2.2 this week, for a total of 201.2 pounds lost! I'm at 175.8 now!

I was actually in the local newspaper the other day! It was about the Heart Walk and they had a pic of me with a little blurb under it :) Here's a quick scan:

They were a bit off on some of the info - it took me a little longer than 16 months to lose that much weight, and the Kashi definitely has some sugar in it! But, it's still a nice positive in my life to see this!

Oh, and yes, I know I need to put those videos up, and I will! Work is getting more cumbersome now thanks to the holiday season fast approaching (actually we were already seeing it start in September), so the late days and the hour+ of exercise each day afterward, it just leaves me drained most nights :(

The east coast is about to get pummeled by Hurricane Sandy. I'm, uh.. sorta prepared. I guess? lol. I have bottled water! :p

People in the area are freaking out. Water, generators, etc etc are in short supply. I heard our local Wal-Mart was totally out of bottled water, and there's talk that we may lose power for a significant amount of time (maybe a week+), but who knows.

The only thing I'm worried about is not getting my daily treadmill runs in, but I've been without a treadmill before and just ran outside.. hah! It might be kind of fun to go for a jog in the midst of a Hurricane :) Those 40mph+ winds would probably make things interesting, I'll just have to watch out for falling limbs and trees!

Oh, and my job will definitely be a little more entertaining. I deliver primarily in wooded areas, so I'll have to stay hopeful that a rogue tree branch doesn't fall onto my new jeep as I'm going along. There was actually a story my boss told me the other day where a carrier got in trouble because a limb fell on her vehicle! It was said she should've known better than to park her vehicle under a tree.. oy. The post office has a zero tolerance policy on accidents nowadays - even to the point of blaming you for something mother nature caused! It's ridiculous.

Anyway, might be on a bit of a hiatus here as things pick up outside. It's already started to rain, and it's only going to get worse from now until about Wednesday.

So, fingers (and toes) crossed for me please

Hope to check in with everyone soon!

Holy crap!!! You're amazing!! Great job on all the weight lost! A true inspiration!!
