Made some of the sesame sauce you gave me the recipe for today. Just tasted a little on the tuna I had for dinner, will make some tuna salad with the leftovers using it tomorrow. Thanks!

funny... after posting it i picked up a few of the oddball ingredients myself. sure wish powered milk came in a smaller can... small ingredient, but i remember him saying that wisking the yogurt and milk powder together was an important step because of the combination reaction. easy area here to pick up some fresh tuna (.... still miss my smoker..!), but i was going to try it with some chopped up chicken.
i have a feeling for the new little while, i'm going to be eating a lot of chopped up things...

they work there and i then just cut and paste.
the superscript "0" can work as a degree symbol.
i wish there would be more fractions... eighths would be nice.

in over 20 years of buying reading glasses, hands down, readers.com are the best by far. in more than a year, one pair lost a screw which i repaired (if i had been more diligent in checking, it probably wouldn't have even happened) and one pair finally broke off a temple after i stepped on them at least once and had to restraighten them more than once. up until i found this site, my average pair lasted about 2 months. 40% sale going on until midnight tonight... i picked up a few sunglass readers.... average $12.50 ea., free shipping.

though my weight has been staying steady, continuing to drop waist size... s l o o o o w l y.
probably a bit over 6-8 months to move from 3 --> 4.
perhaps there is some motivation in maintenance.

the chicken chili turned out so good (three bowls yesterday...!), this was a nice surprise...
yes, i realize weight gain doesn't happen overnight, but it's psychologically comforting nevertheless...
got a call a few days ago and apparently my freeze dryer is ready to ship...
although i'll probably miss a lot of the late season fruit deals, it will be interesting to see how it deals with some peppers which should still be on the vine in a few weeks. the first chore i have in mind is to replace/ increase the amount of emergency rations i have on hand. regardless of the other craziness going on, i still live in an earthquake zone... one of the few natural disasters you don't really get time to prepare for.

Yes, we also live in one, but our earthquakes are much less frequent than yours. However every few hundred years a quite powerful one does strike, and its been a few hundred years now...How Big and How Frequent Are Earthquakes on the Wasatch Fault? I don't know which is worse, I think maybe California's frequent smaller quakes helps keep you better prepared. On the other hand I suspect our earthquake insurance rates are lower than yours.

with the freeze dryer on the way, i want to try drying out some of the Pimiento peppers. dry, ground up Pimento peppers = Paprika. but then there is this... *sigh*. other than the fun, gardening these days isn't really cost effective (well except for one crop of mine...). sort of makes me wonder how they can do it.

i try to keep track. San Diego is about as far away from the main San Andres fault you can get in SoCal, but i have felt the major ones in the LA area. LA is the biggest problem currently. i have read that it is about 20 feet behind the movement of other parts of the fault. every time i feel a large movement i look to see if it is LA. if it is (100 miles away), and it's big here, it's devastating there. i remember the pair that happened one morning as the last big ones, but that was literally a few decades ago. the biggest we seem to get are the quakes in the Palm Springs area. other than that, there are a few faults offshore.

So far as I can tell we sit almost exactly atop the Wasatch fault, the big one here. According to USGS on this part of the fault our maximum quake should be an 8.4 with a recurrence interval averaging 1,300 years, ranging from 500 to 2,800 years. Best geologic evidence is that its been about 2,500 years since the last one so we are about due. The one we had last spring was about a 6, easily felt but not a whole lot of damage, we have one of those about every 20 years. Part of our house is old adobe, about 130 years old, adobe does not do well in earthquakes, so we no there has not been a bad one here in that time.
You are right about earthquakes being different, when in Florida and Louisiana the worry was hurricanes, you always had at least a few days warning, but the warnings were not always accurate. More often than not they forecasters overstated what was going on, but my worst one was the exception, much worse than forecast. Hurricane path forecasts are getting pretty good, in the Gulf they are very good 3 days or less out, however intensity is not so good. And storm surge, the biggest killer, is not very accurately forecast. As hurricanes move northward they move faster and forecasts get less accurate, mid-Atlantic and north this is real problem. I used to think of it as like being shot at with a slow moving bullet, you knew it was coming but not exactly where it would hit or how much it would hurt. I guess earthquakes are the silent sniper on that scale.

i've been aware of too many 12/12 days recently... not that bad, but definitely not IF.
i've been back on track for a whole 4 days...
i'd really, really, really like to get to <165 for a week before i think about baking shortbread this year.

Do you really think there is a difference between 167.5 and 165? Posting my weight daily seems to have shown me there is a lot of variability, up or down 3 or 4 pounds seems quite normal. So far anyway.
Don't expect I will ever be eating much shortbread again. But I do really like it!

let me put it another way... recently i've been seeing 167 as a low... 171-ish as a high.
yes.... i'll be the first to admit you can have a 4-5 lb change over the course of a single day.
but i have to admit... i don't post the highs...
the upside... i nearly always have 1½ lbs of clothes on when i weigh-in... street loaded, maybe another lb.
makes the doctor office visits a bit less disappointing.

interesting how hunger episodes have become somewhat stronger, but have been hitting at unusual times. i have usually kept to the schedule of eating between 11am and around 5-6pm though that window sometimes shifts by an hour or two. late night hunger has been a concern lately, though. it's probably my fault. when i do fall into a 12/12 day it's usually because at ~11pm i'll eat something ... not anything heavy, but i have a feeling it was putting the idea in my head and now knows when i'm most vulnerable. still hard to figure out. it's the next morning and so far i haven't felt like eating at all.
i don't live right under the SAN flight path, but close enough that on the rare days they turn the pattern around for wind or overcast, i do get a good view since the planes are much lower (but quieter) on approach. it didn't occur to me until i sat outside for a while yesterday... a lot less air traffic in general. there used to be a slew of early morning take-offs (the airport is closed except for landings from 11pm until 7am) that aren't happening anymore. the last time it was this quiet was after 11 Sept 2001.

observed some interesting stuff...
i was about to head over to Home Depot to get some legs for a table top i built for my freeze dryer unit.
... but then i came across this someone tossed out.
aside from missing a bit of hardware which i might even have on hand,
it's even better than what i was going to throw together.
... with some handy little drawers..!
woke up to some big news today... my nephew got married...
no family, just some friends and it was done via zoom.
happy for them... a little sad for the family.
