Fit by 60! - TomO's Pledge

This is to decrease leptin, correct?

If I read the article right, you want to increase your leptin levels. When they fall, that's when your metabolism starts to slow down.

However, keep in mind what Steve said too -- that if you're significantly overweight, just eating at maintenance level for 2 or 3 days can accomplish the same thing.

Yeah, it has a really nice mountain bike trail, and actually the bike trails and walking trails are really pretty!! Until this year, I never noticed the mosquito's being bad, so like most water areas, I'm sure they are around there, again until all the rain we had this summer, I rarely saw them out at my place. Mainly those damn flies. LOL LOL And speaking of rain, we have some coming in from Texas tonight and they say 50% chance of rain Saturday and Sunday, I guess I can believe that since I just got my pool up and going right?? It's like washing the car, as soon as you do it, it will rain the next day. But, our plants need it, so I won't complain this time. I hope you have a great weekend Tom, you need to take some pics of your garden area, so I can see what I have to work on when I finally make it to CAL.

Will do! Gotta wait until next week, though, because this weekend we're going up to L.A. to see our daughter.

==========================
Weight: 221.4 - Looks like I smacked the Scale Gods right in the face. No way is Round 7 over with, though. Still, it's nice to see the SG's down for a few seconds, squirming on the floor like the vermin they are. :flame: :rotflmao:

This morning is weights day again (upper body) so I thought I'd get my cardio in this morning. Took a fairly leisurely ride up the coast, 33 miles or so, and spent 2 hours doing it, for a 1500 calorie expenditure and an average of 16.4 mph. A month ago, 16.4 mph was really pushing it; now it's a fairly casual pace.

Tomorrow will be another leisurely ride, this time down the coast to Del Mar, after which we leave to L.A. to visit our daughter, who just got promoted. She's got some major new responsibilities and is really excited about her new position.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Tom,
Congrats on your success with the SG's. It must be nice to be able to bike out to the coast. To get out to the ocean for me it is a 2 hour drive, that would be a little long for a ride right now. Have a great time in L.A

Have a great Friday,
David

Thanks, David. Yes it is a wonderful way to start the day. The ocean is gorgeous in the morning, the traffic isn't too bad, it's just the right temperature -- what could be better? I feel quite fortunate to be able to do this.

Oh you lucky little thing you, able to ride a nice gorgeous ride and refresh. Ahhhhhhhh I could only imagine it. How wonderful. Enjoy your weekend with your daughter, I'm sure you will have lots of fun!
Kim

Oh ... riding beside the ocean. :)
Priceless. :D

Way to go on smacking the scale gods round a little -

and of course, you have a wonderful time with your daughter!!

Weight 221.0 - Nice!
Yesterday afternoon I did my 2nd upper body weights workout, and this morning I had a gorgeous ride to Del Mar and back along the Pacific - 34.0 miles, 2 hours, 17.0 mph avg., and 1464 calories.

I've worked out for the last 8 days straight, so it's time for a day off!

We're on our way to see our daughter in L.A., so see you all on Monday!

Tom
I hope you had a great time visiting your daughter in L.A. I also hope that you are keeping on schedule with your project for work. Last but not least I hope all is going well on the weight loss. Take care and have a great week.

David

Thanks, Steve and David. We had a good time with our daughter in L.A. We stayed at the Omni Hotel in downtown L.A., and although I am fairly jaded when it comes to hotels, we were pretty impressed by this one. The room was nice and the staff was first rate. I got to take some photos of the Disney Concert Hall, which I've been wanting to do for a long time.

Yesterday my weight was 221.8 and this morning it was 221.6 -- 3 more days below 222, and I'll declare Round 7 over with! Yesterday afternoon I did my upper body weight training - 42 minutes, and 313 calories. I didn't do any cardio afterward, but this morning I did a 51.2 mile bike ride: 2 hrs. 50 minutes, avg. 18.1 mph, 2,285 calories expended.

My diet continues to be pretty good without counting calories explicitly or using FitDay. I know what foods are good for me, and which ones aren't, so as long as I keep up my exercise routine, I continue to lose weight, or at least maintain.

One nice thing about biking and losing weight -- it's hard to make improvements in anything physical when you're close to 60, but when you're losing weight, it's still possible. I'll be even faster on the bike when I'm 20 lbs. lighter, that's for sure.
