Fit by 60! - TomO's Pledge

You're in the 220's!!! I'm so excited for you!:jump: And I'm jealous of your calorie allowance...the wonderful lunch plus one apple and my daily cuppa cappucino would be my entire day's allowance:mad: And happy anniversary..I love that you can't remember the last time you guys had a fight..."oh a decade or two ago" he says....HA!...ask my bf when we last had a disagreement and he'd probably look at his watch:) .

Wow TomO, that is an absolute blessing that you've found someone with whom you don't argue at all. That is simply amazing if you ask me. What is your secret because H and I sure need some advice. We bicker all the time and sometimes we get really crazy, yelling and stuff. Funny thing is, we both get over fights very quickly so an hour later things are usually fine (the timing depending on the extent of the fight sometimes though). Obviously this has as much to do with you each as individuals as it does with the combination of you two together. Any advice would be appreciated! You should be the Dr Phil of WLF with that 15 year record!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!

That is what I want when I'm your age. No fights, pure love. Sigh!

I'm so happy for you getting into the 220s!! Remember a few weeks ago how bummed you were and I said that your weight would drop, just you wait? Eh? EH? Nice for motivating Marlene!! Happy belated Father's Day!

Thanks, Val. I'm sure you'll get there. You're a beautiful, passionate woman. Yes, you were right on my getting there. Thanks for helping me get my head right. :)

Congratulations on the Anniversary and here is to MANY, MANY MORE!!!

Thanks, Beth. Now that we are both committed to a healthy life, we have a much better chance of doing exactly that! :)

Thanks, Cym. As for the calorie allowance -- that's your penalty for being much smaller than I, LOL. And as for the fighting, or lack of it, a lot of people would find that boring!

LOL, We used to fight -- over housework. Then, even though we were poor, we decided to pay someone to come in and clean the house twice a month. That ended those fights forever. As for being the "Dr. Phil", no way! I think luck has a lot to do with it, and also the fact that we see eye to eye on our "core" values, but are as different as two people can get on everything else. She's highly organized; I'm somewhat of a messy person. She adheres to a schedule; I'm a procrastinator. Etc. etc. That gives us variety in our relationship, but cohesion where it really counts.

Thank you!! :hug2:

THAT'S IT!! That would end our fights. That's the key...oh sigh!

Weight: 230.6

Round 5 is officially over! The Plateau roused a tiny bit on the 5th day of the count, but not enough to qualify. I ended this Round with an accumulated deficit of only 8,500 calories, and in only 23 days -- one of the easier Rounds so far.

So now Round 6 is starting with Day 4. When I stay around 227-228, Round 6 will be over. My goal is to claim victory before my birthday next month.

We had a terrific 33rd anniversary dinner last night - fresh lobster, corn on the cob, and salad. Marlene made sure we had no more than a tablespoon of butter for the lobster. We used that spray salad dressing - 1 calorie per squirt. And the corn was au natural. For dessert, we had some fat free lemon chiffon yogurt, mixed with berries and nuts. Grand total: 700 calories for the meal. Yummy!

Total calories yesterday came to 2,400:
Fat: 75 gm, 28%; 15 gm saturated, 6%
Carbs: 313 gm, 47%; fiber 44 gm
Protein: 129 gm, 21%
Alcohol: 3 gm, 1%

My workout yesterday was horrible. It was my SS Cardio day, and I went on the step mill. I felt tired when I started, but after 42 minutes I was totally exhausted and my feet were cramping up. I had to stop after only 520 calories. That hasn't happened to me in a long time. I came home practically dizzy, and didn't feel better until I had consumed a protein shake.

Well, even that mediocre workout, with 520 calories, was enough to give me a deficit for the day of 481 calories, and a deficit for the month of 4,797 calories. I expect to do better today.

that's my favorite dessert - served in a martini glass :D very tasty and oh so pretty too...

you'll make your birthday goal...

Happy belated anniversary! That's great that you don't fight with her. I've been with Krista for 9 years now and I can honestly say that we've never had a serious argument. Dinner sounded yummy.

Glad to see the plateau is over.

Why do you think yesterday's workout was horrible? Maybe we need to scale back some things?

Thanks, Steve. Wow, I had no idea you guys had been together so long -- high school sweethearts, eh?

I'm not sure about the workout. For now, I think it may have been just a fluke. Perhaps I should not do cardio right after I finish my leg day, the way I did on Monday. I don't want to cut anything back yet, because overall, these workouts seem less intense than the ones I was doing before -- although the squat-deadlift superset is a killer.

So I would say let's hold off on changing anything unless this becomes a pattern.

Yup, highschool sweethearts. :)

And I figured that would be your answer about the workouts. And I'm glad it is! I concur.

Sorry about yesterday's crappy workout. I ended up going to the gym with my cold, and was able to perform well. Probably shouldn't have, but it felt good anyway. Have a great day!!!:)

Tom, that meal sounds soooo good! What a great dinner!!!! I am seriously hungry after reading that post! :D We have some of that squirtable salad dressing too...but one of my favorites is the Paul Newman Light Balsalmic--45 calories for 2 tblsp.

I've noticed that there is an ebb and flow with my workouts....sometimes, it just seems like there is no sync to it. I feel drained or tired and just cannot summon up the energy that I usually have. Or my legs feel heavy or I have some other cramp or rub that takes away from my ability to meet my goal. Sometimes, its mental...and I scroll through my ipod searching for that one song that is gonna change it around for me...sometimes I find it and I find a new wave of energy and enthusiasm and sometimes I don't and I just get through the workout.

These often do not correlate with illness or a poor night's sleep....they just happen (well at least I have not discovered why).

The last two days for me have been tough...I feel out of sync...worn down and unmotivated to push myself....maybe it's the cycle of the moon or something....*shrug*

I hope you are having a better day, my friend....and CONGRATS, again on your anniversary and the 230!!!! :)

Thanks, Val. Glad you had a good workout at least. Today is weights day, and I'm hoping to have a much better time.

Yeah, I love the Newman dressing, too.

I know what you mean about the cyclical workouts. Some days you're just in the "groove." Some days are good, but not spectacular. And some are like yesterday - just total blah.

Hope you're feeling better yourself today!

 to that workout! I hope your today's is a big improvement for you.

Congratulations on getting those scales to behave!! At least those times of being pooped are paying off nicely!! :)

Thanks, Felici. It was a LOT better the next day.

Weight 231.2 - A little blip upward. At the beginning of a Round, my opponent likes to show me who's boss. But Round 6 is still in its infancy - 5 days old - so no big deal.

I had a MUCH better workout yesterday. Felt good on the weights, and did 25 minutes of cardio on the elliptical at a good pace. The body weight calisthenics at the end are getting a bit tough, but I can see the benefits.

Weights: 37 minutes, 372 calories
Cardio: 25 minutes, 454 calories

Last night we went to my nephew's HS graduation party, and as usual, there was a ton of food there. But Marlene and I pretty much stuck to the veggies, lean meats, and fruit. I ate a lot, but still ended the day at 2,936 calories, giving me a deficit for the day of 242 calories and a deficit for the month of 5,039 calories.

Supposedly my bike was shipped from the factory yesterday. I'm really hoping it may come in this weekend.

Poor Marlene screwed up her knee again. She said she was doing the leg press, and after her workout, she felt some pain. By the evening, she could hardly walk on it. I'm encouraging her to see an A.R.T. practitioner to figure out what can be done.

Hey Tom...yay, your bike shipped! We got our bike rack yesterday, but haven't opened it....too much going on yesterday.

Ignore that blip...it's water weight. :)

Oh gosh, that sounds really painful for Marlene...she does need to have someone take a look at it. There may be some exercises that she should avoid. I know with my shoulder, I have to be aware of that in general day to day stuff. I hope she is feeling better.

Good to hear you had a better workout, too! :)

Thanks for dropping by, Beth and Pinky. Marlene's going to a seminar today, but I'm hoping on Friday she'll be able to find someone to help her.

Well that's good news about the bike. Will it be ready to ride when you get it?

I'm really sorry to hear that Marlene is hurt. :( That's a nasty way to start her summer programme. I hope it's something she can get on top of quickly.
