Thanks to Cannon, Felici, Curvie, Kelly and Daise for visiting yesterday.
Yesterday was a "light" day -- only 8 hours of "carpentering" and we called it a day. I didn't feel quite so old anymore when my son confessed to me that he was really exhausted. We did accomplish a lot, though. Finished a 7 foot rolling clothes cabinet that rolls under his bed, which we also elevated 3 feet by building a platform for it to sit on. Also finished 2 large benches for his kitchen. I was pretty accurate on all the wood, except for 2 extra 2 x 10's, 10 feet long. Uggh -- each one of those is around 40 lbs., and now we have to lug them DOWN 6 flights of stairs to return them to Home Depot.
We're a little ahead of schedule, so we may actually have 3 or 4 hours free to see the city. They have a beautiful Museum of Asian Art here that we'd love to see, assuming I can still walk by then!
I'm still pretty sore all over -- the kind of tired out feeling when you garden for a whole day after you haven't done it for 6 months. We're driving home on Saturday, and I think I'll take Sunday off to rest before starting my new 18 day program on Monday.
We never know what to get our kids for birthdays and Christmas, so we typically end up giving them cash. This year, this is our son's gift, and he is thrilled to have it. Much better than cash, that's for sure. Although cash is a lot easier, LOL!
Yesterday morning I was at a little shop across the street getting my morning coffee, and there was a poppy seed muffin calling out my name. I figure I'm expending at least a couple thousand calories during the day with all this work, so I treated myself to this 500 calorie bit of sin. I have to say, it sure tasted good!
Tonight we're going out to eat at one of the neighborhood restaurants. And what the hell -- I'm even going to have dessert!
See what a bad influence you are, Steve?
I really don't think I've gained any weight this trip, though. I'll find out on Sunday.
