Fit by 60! - TomO's Pledge

I have no idea! Cholesterol network's measurement test said 20.6%. This Saturday I am getting one at my gym...looking forward to that!

Keep it up--you'll get there! I saw a man in my gym yesterday. I don't know how old he was, but he could have been in his late fifties. He was buff! Standing tall! Great arms! I was impressed!

Good luck in SF!

Thanks for stopping by, Beth & Curvie!

I think I am burning off a lot more calories during the day, that's for sure. One site I saw said that carpentry for a man my size burns 850 calories an hour, and yesterday, we were at it for 9.5 hours. That would come to over 7,000 calories. But I don't believe that. At any rate, I have a feeling the yummy steak dinner Marlene made for us last night won't hurt me at all.

I'm still a little stiff and sore from carrying all that lumber yesterday, and a little more stiff and sore from all the work yesterday. In fact, I'm just plain stiff and sore. I look forward to next week, when I can "relax" with some HIIT, squats, and deadlifts! :D

It sure is great spending some time with my son like this, though. He's an up and coming fashion designer for a large women's clothing company here in SF, except that he's designing their first men's lines. He's been at it for 3 years now, and is getting write-ups in all the trade press, and is considered a hot new designer on the west coast. Naturally, we are proud of him, but we also are fascinated by this world we knew nothing about until our son entered it.

Ate basically healthy food all day ( LOL, I consider steak a "health food") - eggs & turkey meat loaf for breakfast, turkey sandwich for lunch, steak and salad for dinner, and veggies, hummus, and nuts for snacks.

Enjoy your trip and stop worrying about calories!

LOL, I'm trying, I'm trying, believe me. It's just so weird after all these months not to weigh myself every day, not to write down everything I eat in FitDay, and not to go to the gym. I think I'm having a hard time trusting myself.

Breaks are good! And if you gain a few pounds, who cares!? They will come off. Those few pounds gained may help with the momentum when you start back up!

What an interesting trip you are having.

I can imagine that it would be very hard to switch off all your little counters on command after practicing keeping them switched on regardless!! :D

It sounds like fun despite all the aching muscles.

Thanks to Cannon, Felici, Curvie, Kelly and Daise for visiting yesterday.

Yesterday was a "light" day -- only 8 hours of "carpentering" and we called it a day. I didn't feel quite so old anymore when my son confessed to me that he was really exhausted. We did accomplish a lot, though. Finished a 7 foot rolling clothes cabinet that rolls under his bed, which we also elevated 3 feet by building a platform for it to sit on. Also finished 2 large benches for his kitchen. I was pretty accurate on all the wood, except for 2 extra 2 x 10's, 10 feet long. Uggh -- each one of those is around 40 lbs., and now we have to lug them DOWN 6 flights of stairs to return them to Home Depot.

We're a little ahead of schedule, so we may actually have 3 or 4 hours free to see the city. They have a beautiful Museum of Asian Art here that we'd love to see, assuming I can still walk by then!

I'm still pretty sore all over -- the kind of tired out feeling when you garden for a whole day after you haven't done it for 6 months. We're driving home on Saturday, and I think I'll take Sunday off to rest before starting my new 18 day program on Monday.

We never know what to get our kids for birthdays and Christmas, so we typically end up giving them cash. This year, this is our son's gift, and he is thrilled to have it. Much better than cash, that's for sure. Although cash is a lot easier, LOL!

Yesterday morning I was at a little shop across the street getting my morning coffee, and there was a poppy seed muffin calling out my name. I figure I'm expending at least a couple thousand calories during the day with all this work, so I treated myself to this 500 calorie bit of sin. I have to say, it sure tasted good!

Tonight we're going out to eat at one of the neighborhood restaurants. And what the hell -- I'm even going to have dessert!

See what a bad influence you are, Steve? :D

I really don't think I've gained any weight this trip, though. I'll find out on Sunday.

occassional treats are good for you and keep you on the right track long term... enjoy the muffin and enjoy dessert tonite... :) you've earned it for the slave labor.

After all that exercise doing carpentry im sure a dessert and a glass of wine wont go a miss!

Hope you have a nice meal :)

Too bad I am not around the corner....

You could swing by my place and do 8 hours carpenterizing, er, I mean have an easy day anytime. Always willing to help a fella exercising! Now thats support!!! :D

Don't suppose you are swinging by Hong Kong anytime soon?? ;)

The museum sounds like a wonderful way to relax and wind down! I say go for dessert, but just share a dessert...that way you can indulge your sweet tooth without a full helping of guilt! :D
